Lost sons return! Thought lost in the fall of Cadia, a lone ship limps homeward, carrying less than 50 Marines of a lesser known successor chapter to the Dark Angels, the Redeemers. For their heroics, the survivors are granted the opportunity to ascend and become Primaris. None refuse, though only 20 endure. These few reform much of the inner circle and command chain, and their dire losses are beginning to fill with Primaris replacements. While their numbers are still low, they are eager to rejoin the hunt.

Ah, the Brothers Penitent, they are aptly named. They have much to be penitent of. Anyways, the Redeemers happen to be an actual chapter that has no information recorded about them save their name and allegiance to the imperium. As such, my fellow blogger and brother "brushcommando" encouraged me to join him in bringing to life two derelict chapters. I started with Dark angels, but never really got into painting the greenwing because I never found a scheme I was satisfied with. I recently revisited the issue and found an unorthodox paint-job that I immediately had my heart set on. When I showed brushcommando, he told me about his idea to make up his own fluff about the Brothers Penitent, and that I might be interested in taking up the Redeemers as well. I liked the idea, but I couldn't bring myself to change the sword and wings icon that I painstakingly perfected a method for. So, I decided to still be a Dark angel...sorta. From there, we weaved together a general idea of where our chapters came from, and just so it's clear our chapters don't really like each other. As to why, well, you'll just have to wait and possibly find out. Here's a picture of my painting station and the bulk of what I plan to paint.

Almost finished with the Primaris ancient. Also have a chaplain about done. I'll upload it soon.

Company heroes! Chaplains still on his way, though. I've been busy. With the Captain I experimented a little. I went with Dark angels green contrast paint over iron warriors base. gave a nice metallic look. finished it off with a touch of gloss varnish. Let me know what you think!

Here's the chaplain. Initially I thought about having the faceplate be all red, but it didn't quite look right, so I went over it with a bone color, but it seemed too plain, so then I painted it half red, half bone and that turned out just right.

Looking excellent mate - Im worried about the "thing with wings" lurking behind these staunch loyalists on your paint station though. Don't let him whisper bad things to them.

Whats up next in the plan?

Currently I'm on vacation and can't paint, but I'm getting an itch to paint plasma... As for the "thing with wings", that is a direct result of losing too many deathwing to smite. A particular eldar psycher was giving me trouble, so I got mad and bought a new army. My hive tyrant smote the smiter(in one go) and then proceeded to eat the rest of his eldar. Revenge was delicious.

Until then, I pose a question. Do you think there will be a primaris iteration of terminator armor? I'm uncertain of how to proceed with the first company.

Progress is looking good. As far as Primaris Terminators go, I’m convinced that Gravis plate will be the Primaris equivalent. I’d be pretty surprised if they released yet another variant of the Mk X any time soon.

Thanks for the input. That's the way I'm leaning. For the third company I'll fill the close support slots with reivers and hopefully those new assault intercessors, and hellblasters for heavy support. The first company equivalent will then be inceptors and aggressors. However I'm still wondering what to do for 1st company tactical squads.

Edit: I looked again at the new units and I'll include eradicators to the 1st company heavy support.

So, I have a confession to make...I'm a dakkanoob. I just got back from a long, masked, socially-distanced road trip where I had plenty of time to browse Dakkadakka and see what's out there. In that time I put together a plan for what to do when I got home, so...here it is. I looked at my old photos and decided they were garbage, so I ordered a proper light box. Brushcommando also gave me some pointers about altering the exposure and making the photos more true to form. That being said, I've uploaded some better pics to give them a little more love. As for the project, I plan to paint some hellblasters and I'll be updating the blog with WIP pics here soon. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Quick update- working on the main base colors. I'm also working on a librarian on the side but don't have pics yet. Experimenting with something and want it to be a surprise

Note: one's missing because he's been primed and isn't quite ready. Shouldn't take long to catch him up.

Also note: when I put on base coats, I'm only slightly more careful than a toddler with crayons.

I’m pretty sure DA plasma is usually blue. These guys are really coming along.

Progress report- got more of the bulk work done, almost ready for cleaning and detailing. Also nailed down a scheme for plasma. Went through several iterations, but I've found one I like.

What is the scheme? Just Aethermatic over Fenrisian?

@Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll- Oops! Sorry yes that is the scheme, forgot to clarify that. And yes, it's nothing particularly fancy. I might put gloss varnish on it, though. I find that contrast paints and washes become a little more dull when they dry, but when you go back with varnish you can make the color pop like it's fresh and it stays that way. I've done some experiments with metallic greens and blues and reds this way.

@416_SpaceWolves- Thanks, initially it was the aethermatic over white, but it didn't quite get the right contrast. Was kinda too much.

Hell yeah! Obviously he’s automatically a badass.

Sooo...I tend to flip back and forth working on multiple things at a time. While I was working on the hellblasters, I had some inspiration to paint my librarian. I am not particularly fond of psykers, so I got a librarian solely for the purpose of targeting enemy psykers. This model embodies my hatred.

Yeah, he's a little... different. Otherwise, I'm having a good time with these hellblasters. Working on cleaning them up so they'll be ready to wash.

Looking cool. I like the fluff piece. As I think about it, It suits the self-loathing attitude of the Unforgiven. I could easily see it becoming focused around psykery in one of thier offshoot chapters. Hellblasters are coming along nicely. I like the shaver stubble on the helmetless guy.

Hellblasters look quite cool. Can never have enough plasma. I like the choice of green for the Librarian's robes.

Thank you all for the support . The hellblasters are almost done. I'm painting their squad, company, and chapter markings. As of late though I have been a bit distracted.
