I agree with Nevelon. Unless you’ve got loads of practice, they never look as good up close. But the point of edge highlighting is to bring out the detail at a tabletop distance anyways. So another congratulations at a job well done for a first try. My first edge highlights were as thick as a shoulder pad rim. Bring on the army shot!

Thanks for the support as always!

I've been a bit distracted by my other hobby lately (videogames) but I got around to getting the army shot together. Should be more impressive once I get paint on more of them. I also was working on the redemptor, but it's been slow, because this is the first dreadnought I've painted and when I do another there will be a few things I will do differently, mainly subassemblies. As long as you don't look into the deepest crevasses then it should be fine.

Solid looking force you have there.

I’m a paint in subasembly guy. Just how I roll. The paint it solid crowd has its own sizable following. “If I can’t get a brush there, you can’t see it” is a pretty compelling argument.

But the Emperor sees. He knows.

Indeed he does. Here's where I'm at on the redemptor.

@viterbi- thanks for the tip. Picking out the "nubbins" worked nice on the gun and even better on the dreadnought.

Happy to have been of help. Nice WIP of the Dread and I always switch between putting everything together or doing subassemblies. With the Dreads I didn't glue the arms so I was able to paint them separately, but everything else was in one piece. As long as you're happy with the result that counts as the having been done the right way

On this one the arms aren't glued fortunately. The biggest issue I had was around the hips where it connects to the torso.

I have some old marines and this is giving me the inspiration to paint them up as DA! (I am also thinking of imperial fists so I just need to make my mind up)
