Hello friends!

In this thread, I'll be showing off my new collection of Grey Knights for 40k. Now I know, collecting Grey Knights atm might be a bit of a questionable idea, as they are due for an overhaul at some point. However, the plan started with a cool conversion idea I wanted to replicate off of youtube for a Dreadknight. While that didn't end up happening, I still bought a full Combat Patrol for the Grey Knights. It sat, mostly unused, for quite a few months. Then, the 2026 "1 Million Miniatures" challenge came along, and in my struggle to find more models to paint, I once again came across the box with the unassembled models. One thing led to another, and after finishing 56 minis for the challenge, I now find myself in the possession a small, but growing, force of Grey Knights. In this thread, I want to share all the images of my models with you. Let's start with some older stuff. Here's my first squad of 6 Purifiers:

Next, I moved on to a squad of Terminators, with an accompanying Terminator Librarian. Spoiler tag contains detailed images.

Spoiler:

I later added this Terminator Apothecary to the squad:

At about that time, I found out that a new version of the Combat Patrol had come out (I was very late, mind you) and that I would need a Dreadnought, some more Purifiers and Castellan Crowe to build it. Here's a Dreadnought I ordered off of ebay and converted a little:

I also ordered a second Dreadnought off of ebay which I'm super happy I managed to snag. It is a very cool Forge World model that the original owner converted quite a bit with a Multimelta and a Force Hammer. I have already modified it and taken apart most of it, but before I show you that, I want you to see in the original form I received it in, because it is just too awesome:

Just such a cool model, and I want to have it immortalized here before I do my own thing with it.

Anyway, that's all I have for today. Stay tuned as there is more to come soon!

Very nice work! The effect on the nemesis weapons is especially good. What else have you got planned for this army?

Are those Arc Reactors from Iron Man on the backs of those first 6 Purifiers? The blue for the blades and eyes is spectacular I have to say.

Those are some lovely models! I agree with others who said effect on the Nemesis weapons is outstanding. Really impressive work! And the “before and after” pix is a great idea! Great stuff. Keep it coming!

And don’t worry about the Grey Knights being due for a new Codex. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my 30+ years of wargaming is to build what you like. The rules will come and go. You’ll be OP one edition and nerfed the next. But if you like the models and the lore, then you have an army you can love regardless!

Thank you so much Max! Next up is another Strike/Purifier Squad, the Forge World Dread plus weapon options, and a Dreadknight. I'll also eventually need to buy/kitbash a Castellan Crowe for this collection to be able to play the newer Combat Patrol list, but that may take a while. I have more than enough grey plastic as is

Haha, good point! I wasn't aware of that til now, will have to check it out! The thing is, I simply used the personal teleporter backpacks of the Inceptor squad as I wanted to save the regular ones for conversions, so I simply snipped off the antenna things and painted them as usual, but with the glowing generator. Thank you very much for your kind words, Adamski!

Thanks a lot JohnS for the nice comment! Glad you all seem to like my Nemesis weapon paintjob
Also, you raise a good point about collecting what you like. Initially, I was going to try and replicate Pete the wargamer's fantastic Saturnine Dreadknight conversion, but with the price tag for that, I became a little reluctant to chop up 2 expensive kits. However, the regular Grey Knight models have really started to grow on me during the challenge, so that's good. Besides, I rarely play, if ever, so visual appeal is of the utmost importance to me! Thanks again for your encouragement and insight!

Hey Jordy, lovely seeing you again in one of my threads! Thank you so much for the compliment, it means a lot coming from such an accomplished painter as yourself!
Glad you asked, here's my recipe:
Basecoat with the good old Citadel Ice Blue (I still heve some left over, but I'm sure you can find a suitable replacement)
Next, stipple on some highlights in a splotchy, irregular manner of a 1:1 mix of Ice Blue and Skull White/White Scar.
Finally, stipple on another layer of an almost pure Mix of White with a tiny bit ofblue, taking care to stay mostly within the previous highlight layer.

It may take a while to get the technique right. For this particular case, an old, messed up and frayed (dry)brush might be the best option to get the desied look. Youmay also want to add a light layer of a darker shade of blue spilling over the blade to create a OSL effect, but that's optional.
Thanks once again for the kind words, and good luck trying out the recipe!

Thanks you all so much for your input and praise, I'm very humbled by the great feedback friends! Stay tuned for more soon!
