Hey why not? GW is always looking to speed up the game, that would do the trick don't you think.

It would make orks better...

I like the idea, but maybe instead of total rending, maybe some sort of critical hit where they are wounded automatically OR don't get an armor save, but only one or the other, not both

The clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy's will to be imposed on him.

Better than vs. gauss weapons! With a shotgun you would have to roll a 6 on AP, then a 5 to glance. Gauss weapons just glance on a 6... lame :p

Would make for an interesting game. Tyranid horde armies would rule. Ditto for LatD Beast Mutant hordes.

With a suggestion out of "The Rules with No Name"/Street Violence:

Every weapon has rending, but every model also has Will Be Back (or Bionics). Now that's unpredictability!

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

You forget that the average groundpounder doesn't have a points value. They already live up to not being worth anything.

While it would speed up the game, it would also soundly unbalance it. Maybe give Rending to every army in a commonly-used weapon, such as the Burst Cannon for Tau (don't tell me it's not used, look at Stealthsuits), the Heavy Bolter for the Imperium in addition to the AC (and maybe the Hurricane Bolter), etc. Although I don't think the Necrons should get it, since all their weapons are semi-Rending already.

That, and I don't like Necrons.

You're right their value is negligible except for meatshields, but I'm not getting where you're saying they don't have a points value.

I for one find this post hilarious!

Might as well remove armour saves and make the whole profile 3-3-3-3-1-3-1-10, too!

Playable in just 20 minutes!

Good stuff.

Individual guardsmen don't cost anything - their cost is per unit, not per model.

60 points for 10 right? So.... a guard is worth 6 points

Vets get a points value per model. Remnants have a base cots plus a point cost per model increase. So additional remnant squad members have a points value, but basic troops don't

A single Guardsman is not worth 6 points; a single Guardsman is worthless. Only in a squad, as a bullet-catcher for a heavy or special weapon, is a Guardsman worth anything.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Utah (Oh god)

You know what would REALLY make the game short, making rending ordinance blasts as well, then when you roll one six it rends everyone in the blast!

Then all that matters is if you get first turn!

Okay then, lets see.:
768pts gets me ninety-six Gaunts with two rending shots each at 18". Then take thirty BS2 warriors with twin devourers (if they're BS2 they get 50% more re-rolls, thus meaning they get even more rends!)

That's over three hundred rending shots. Ignoring the re-rolls, that's already enough to take out fifty space marines in one volley...

i am somewhere...up there...

Better idea- Set up forces, both sides roll 1D6 (SM get a +1 to their roll(GW rule)) whoever rolls higher wins the game...no more issues, modeling won't matter, cheap tacics would be quashed, and if you can't afford an army just empy your garbage can onto the table and say you play the Ork SM chapter (gotta get that +1).

we could even make the rule book fit on a card you could keep in your wallet

oh yeah...the Tau can throw their die at the opponent (longer range, you see?)

that wasn't directed at anyone btw...but, i feel better

good gaming everybody
