So it's close, you might be right though. I'd point out that having more and cheaper hulls would be an advantage in a battle of attrition though, as would longer range and greater ability to get cover saves.

This one's a tad pricey, but its something I've actually used and had alot of fun with.

Sarge gets a free lightning claw
5 more lightning claws
4 thunder hammers
10 storm shields

Totals up to 920 points. With infiltrate and Fleet from shrike its a turn one charge almost every game re-rolling everything on the first turn and almost all wounds on the rest of them. Most of the squad with a 3+ invul save makes them hard to get rid of, but if they are'nt supported well they die to shooting due to volume of fire cause people really don't like these guys.

Edit: You assault and wipe one squad and then get shot to hell by the rest.

This thread has gone on long enough, and really was a bit silly to start with. It's less about tactics than it is about designing a unit in a vacuum.
