On the topic of fanfic...

It bugs me to no end when writers use font sizes, weights, or styles to convey manner of speaking.

I get it. It's an emotional scene. So the shout/whisper/monotone makes sense. What doesn't make sense, however, is increasing the size and bolding your character's shouts, shinking and italicizing their whispers, or typing their BSODd, muttered words in small caps.

You are not making a flier, I shouldn't have to zoom in to read your work, and you are not Terry Pratchett, though I dearly wish you were.

If you've written the scene in a way that I can imagine the emotions of the characters, then seeing the dialogue is enough for me. You're trying too hard, Mister or Misses Fanfic Writer.

i actually understand using this to convey a whisper,or thought. what bugs me is when they use it for both. if your gonna use it, dont use it for both. make it one,or the other!

Arg...we pirates believe in da "401k" plan. After 401 kilometers sailing (that's 206 nautical miles to landlubbers) wit me, you get keelhauled. If ya survive, you get yer own hook fer a hand, an eye patch, an a peg leg.

As fer ole One Eyed Williams, thar be no help from da crew that gave him 47 punches to his head for his birthday, assumin' he wasn't fibbin 'bout his age. We gave him an extra 10 just to be sure we got it right.

It sounds to me like your business has an unacceptably high turnover rate.

Have you considered that by rotating your employees out so quickly, they never master the skills you need for your enterprise to be effective?

Arg. Cannot trust da thievin' lot o' dogs. One Fingered Billy over 'ere tried to steel me boots nine times. Arg. Hasn't tried since he's now down to one ol' pinky finger.

I'se reckon I could keep one over 401k and not give 'im an eye patch, a peg leg, and a hook fer a hand. I'se thinkin' I'd give his arse a rudder and his belly a cannonball instead.

Okay...so now I need to know if there is any possiblity that we can have an expansion to Dreadfleet that just came out with MLP themed ships?

Does anyone know if there is tiny little models we can use for the game that would signify this?

I'd prefer it to be Fluttershy or Twilight, but even with Dash I estimate my heart exploding the second I open the box.

On the other hand, I will kill anyone who stands in my way to have this.

No doubt. I think though, that Twilight is the pony it'd be easiest for me to get along with. We are both quite strict about writing and such.
