I am currently helping a friend convert his ork army into a feral ork tribe. However, I found a few oddities in the feral ork list that I was wondering about.

Firstly, the Feral ork Warbosss is not limited to 1, as it is in the normal Ork list. Has this been FAQed or is it legal to take two?

My second question is about the Warboss bodyguard. The entry states that if a pigdok is in the bodyguard then all modles must have a mount. Does that mean that if grots are taken they can take boars as well, or that they may not be taken at all?

1. No FAQ exists. Feral Orks follow exactly what is in their list, not what is in the Ork codex.

2. You are misreading the rule.

The rule AFTER Pigdok states that if the Warboss is mounted then everyone else in the bodyguard must be mounted as well. This has nothing to do with the Pigdok itself. In fact, a Pigdok is not mounted unless you buy it a mount.

The mounted rule goes for all bodyguard configurations, with or without a Pigdok.

Requiring all members of the bodyguard to be mounted does not necessarily grant all members of the bodyguard the right to purchase a mount.
Follow?

So either the retinue cannot buy mounts if some memebers dont have access, or they can and move at the slowest speed anyway.

The Warboss is 0-1 by intent only (I hopeso anyway) and probably played that way by 90% of the ork players.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...

The pigdok can dope any unit to which that rule applies... like Mad Boyz and Boar Boyz. It works out well.

blue loki: we must be reading different versions of the rules. The current codex specifically states:

If the Warbosses retinue contains a Pigdok then all models (including the Warboss) may be mounted. If there is no pigdok, then no model may be mounted.

So, being mounted definately depends on having a pigdok.

Wow! My bad cuda, you're correct.

The pdf I downloaded on 9/6/06 appears to have been replaced already!

Changed from:
"If the Warboss is mounted then his Bodyguards must also be mounted on Boars or Cyboars. If the
Warboss is riding a Super Cyboar then all Nobz in the unit must be equipped with Cyboars. Cyboars
can only be selected if there is at least one Pigdok in the Bodyguard."

to:
"If a Warboss?s retinue contains a Pigdok then all models (including the Warboss) may be mounted. If
there is no Pigdok then no model may be mounted. If the Warboss is mounted on a super cyboar, then
all members of the retinue must be mounted on cyboars."

in the last couple weeks.

Hmmm... must digest this new info...

I was really hoping that I could have a loan wrboss on a super cyboar. Looks like the only way you can do that now is to play the snakebites list ( which if you do will also allow you to take bionic bonce. got to love 2+ save cavalry warbosses)

oh well, I guess i could take a foot-sloggin warboss and join him to a junka squad

I dont see the problem here, this restriction only applies to the retinue.

P1: If the retinue has a dok the members may be mounted.
P2: No dok in the retinue means no models mounted.
C : If the Warboss is alone there is no retinue, and he can choose whatever mount you want.
