Not only does it look like it's from the 90s cartoon 'ahhh real monsters' but it's got weird design elements, like the anchor/ plow its pulling to 'slow' the slug down.
It's too whimsical and cirquedusoleil.
Nice PG grim dark universe they are setting up.
Only redeeming piece is the shell, which has a ton of garbage on it.

I'm not a fan either, but I don't like Nurgle stuff in general. Doesn't make it bad though, looks like a Nurgle thing with the "jolly grandfather" element actually represented .
Some people will like it and that is who GW needs to care about. Just like with the KO.

Wow.. highly detailed model that is also absolutely terrible on design. Can't believe they'd make such a cartoony thing.

You can change your opinion, but its just that, an opinion. I wouldnt say its a terrible design, just quite different from the usual, and if you dont like the aesthetic, so be it

That snail thing is adorable, I'm actually tempted to pick it up. Entirely not the terrifying plague monster it's meant to be, but I like it. It could well be the first AoS model I pay money for, via a bit seller on ebay mind you.

As demonstrated with Mortarion its the gakky studio Nurgle pastel paint scheme.
Can someone with greater skills than I photoshop it to a grimier colour tone and have the eyes without pupils so they're one solid colour. Both will go a long way to show there's a great mini under there.

Boxed set looks great!
I'm definitely in for the snail rider, and I hope he's a 40k character as well. I had wanted the mounted sigmarines as well, which is great! I only have one set of plague drones, so this is great to get more, and I can always use extra nurglings & plague bearers for various nurglification of vehicles & bases. I don't have the crossbow sigmarines, but with them I'm going to have quite the sigmarine army when I combine them with the stuff I got in the original AoS boxed set.
All in all, it works for me! Glad to see Papa Nurgle squishing his way into AoS more.

It's essentially two start collecting sets mashed together, but the stormcast side looks way better than many of the sets that include stormcast since those are presumably full kits. Those stormcast that don't have special weapons that keep showing up in box sets are kind of annoying.

I do like the snail, but not sure on how they painted the eyes.
All gonna be in the description for me though. Given the sheer rotting horror of Nurgle, it's easy to forget he's a happy, jolly fellow - and stuff like Beasts of Nurgles are essentially his take on a playful puppy. All jumpy and slobbering, eager to share their gifts and get a fuss.
So if the background of the snail matches the slightly cartoonish look (which as others have pointed out, may well just be the paint job accentuating), much less of a problem. If it's meant to be some kind of rabid killer - different entirely.

Yes. It's part of many facets of NPD. Narcissists can't distinguish between their subjective opinion and objective fact - so when something comes at odds with their subjective worldview, it generates anger, confusion, and resentment.

I love this model so much. I think I may have to buy three of these slugs just to paint them up in different schemes. GW has really been outdoing themselves with how much character they are injecting into their newest models.
I don't even play AOS.

So I just got a look at the Freeguild preview, good news is that freeguild infantry is included in the new horde meta and the allegiance ability is appropriately strong to compensate for the restrictiveness of going just freeguild. It's a shame they only have one command trait though (the other five are apparently just there to have pretty words on the page, given how inferior they are).

Eh, it depends, really. Depending on how triumphs work in the new GHB, I can see a point being made for that one trait too.

Roll a d3 at the start of the game to determine which you get one phase of: reroll hits for one unit, reroll wounds for one unit, or reroll saves for one unit.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/08/25/new-and-updated-faqs-forge-world-warscrolls-and-compendium-pdfsgw-homepage-post-1/
The General’s Handbook 2017 is on shelves tomorrow, and however you play Warhammer Age of Sigmar, there’s something new for you. To coincide with this game changing new book, we’re releasing loads of new updates to help with your games. The first of these is a set of FAQs designed to clarify your games; the second is a series of updated Warscrolls and matched play points values for your Forge World models, and the third, refreshed Compendium Warscrolls for a range of classic models from a variety of factions.
The release of the new General’s Handbook was a great time for us to take a look at the game and address a few common questions. These FAQs have been written based on feedback given by you, the community, as well as from observations from Warhammer Age of Sigmar Tournaments, and should help make your games run more smoothly than ever.
enjoy !

Ouch, the hits keep coming on the Overlords. Guess they're done till 2018's GHB when it drops prices for a bunch of units. Also a bit annoyed they couldn't be bothered to update the key words for the older lizardmen units they kept or the beastmen units.

Actually, they did update them - to remove the existing factions!
So you won't get your allegiance abilities if you include legacy units now.
