I was recently told by someone that I could be refused play as my Ork battlefortress was not WYSIWYG enough. Basically, my scratch-built battlefortress uses a battle cannon as a cannon and lascannons as zap guns.

I know he was technically correct, but isn't this a tad anal?

It is not just a tad, it is very anal.

I think a battle cannon with a change in ammo would be a prime Ork target to make a Kannon, and a lasscannon tweaked by a mek probably makes a great Zzap Gun. To me its %100 WYSIWYG.

I agree. No problem at all with WYSIWYG. Orks used to use lascannons anyway for Gork's sake!

The guy that wouldn't let you use it had his head up his anal.

Utah (Oh god)

I'd give the guy that was talking to you the finger, and the work from there

Honestly you made a good faith effort to represent the models properly, you probably told people what they were, I'd simply tell him to buzz off. And only the dumbest of tournament workers would reject an army with cutsom WYSIWYG models.

You're cool by my everyone elses mind so don't worry about the one fly in everyone's ointment

Its kind of funny how some of us try to represent everything as close as possible, in the event we play against the gamer who is that anal.

And now that you found him, it still isnt good enough somehow...

Seems like a life lesson to me.

Dont sweat it. That guy is not only blowing smmoke up your bum, but he isnt worth playing either. Fruitbats like that shouldnt be playing this game.
Next time you see him, tell him he could be refused participation in the human race as the list he made on the short bus on his way to the game shop isnt represented enough by proper grammar.

I bet he was just scared.

"Your Orks are not green enough!"

"You cannot tell me that Orks loot items from the battlefield and use the chassis of guns to build thier own custom guns!"

What a turd.  Just the other day I played against a guy that was using chainswords as power swords.  He told me before hand and reminded me in game.  He was still modelling his army so my friend and I caught him off guard. Maybe Im too relaxed.  I wish I had more Ork players around here with special custom vehicles to spice up the game a bit.

ANAL. How much more zappy can you get then a lascannon?

Anyway, Trooper, your chainsword experience reminded me that one time the chainsword teeth blue to represent a power weapon.

Seriously as long as the person makes an effort to show stuff and reminds you what everything is, I don't see a problem.

It's not a matter of WYSIWYG as much as COUNTAS as in the battle cannon counts as a cannon and lascannons counts as zap guns particularly if you make the substitution throughout the army. Further, if you state before the game begins what substitution is what, he can't really complain.

Theyt did not put it in the main rulebook but all the codexes I have read have WYSIWYG as a rule for wargear and weapons from the armory.

So ask them what a ZZap gun looks like. Orks use anything they can get their mitts on and tinker with them enough to change what they do.
The only cause for caution was if you used the lascannons for other weapons, such as lascannons for loota boys or such. If all lascannons represented Zzzap guns for your army, then just throw one at him and yell "ZZZAAAPP!"

He's both an idiot and anal. Its best if you obliterate him in a game. Once that has been achieved, never ever play him again. Someone that moroonic/anal can't be fun to play against.

The rest of us will "ooh" and "ah" over your conversion.
