True, it's kind of what makes sci-fi work though, is having some familiar reference really, some real or familiar thing that is explainable or believable. Take my Steampunk Civil War troops with the Kepi hats..it looked funny to you, but now that Dystopian Legions is doing the same thing, it'll be seen more often.

Actually I forgot you did them, however I was putting stuff together a few months back (well working parts out ) and included in that was the Kepi heads I had, however I had to wait for Maxmini to release the great coat torsos which I am waiting on my order now

didn´t look funny for me one minute... it was a strong and successful concept back then... only because a major league company produces something it dosn´t suddenly get not wrong looking or something... if it works then it works...

Yeah, but the exposure the company will give the look means something Vik. Not you, but some others just didn't "get it"

Been Around the Block

Orlando, FL

I'm curious to know how the finger skate board terrain worked out. I picked some up cheap, and it's great, but the most common ramp the sets come with is way too steep for minis. I tried attaching rubber to the ramp so the minis wouldn't slip off, but it's still too vertical to get Necromunda minis to hold their ground!

Yes I have checked these out pre order box sets are available but I want to wait for the tanks

It was a good concept worked well, plus the steamwalker was brilliant and it all tied together

I haven't worked with it much, I just figured I would cover up the ramps with treadplate and other bitz or rivets to give the mini bases something to grip. The plywood texture on them is great, but not what I want for the Underhive, so I'll probably skin most of them with some plastic.

LDD I sort of envisioned the tophat guys being a different faction(The rich Capitalist Railroad Barons) than the Federal Army. It seems like Dystopian Wars has written it a bit differently with the whole Federated States fluff-line. I'll be excited to read the fluff, the tanks are very cool, but the price point of the tanks will be what ultimately decides whether I scratchbuild or buy them.

..Also, the Greatcoats (or even a long dress uniform) are kind of important to the Steampunk look. For Some reason, in this Golden Age of Miniature gaming we live in, there still isn't a good, generic plastic greatcoat available that looks different than the Archetypical German Greatcoat.

Good stuff Vik, but "wool Frock coat" is the name I was looking for rather than greatcoat. 19th Century American Frocks were a more practical version of the 18th Century tails of European uniforms

The buttons make the look, although I'm not sure historically when double-breasted/double row of buttons gave way to the single row look, Double would still look cool IMHO

It might be an Enlisted vs. Officer thing too, or more likely they did it as a way to make it cheaper to produce, I'm not sure.

A double line of buttons I was under the assumption was an officer thing... but I don't know where I got the idea from...

It looks like a bit of an oversized Thompson, but I've never seen one with such an elongated barrel and bayonet though. Still cool.

www.iplasticsupply.com cam through for me again!
