OK, no rivets on the head of the mace. Good, that would have looked odd.
I did get most of the mace done over the weekend! We'll get to that. I also made a cola bottle for dsteingass, in case you missed it on his thread, he has made/is making a Nuka-Cola vending machine terrain piece for his Necromunda stuff, and I wanted to make some bottles to go along with it. Right now, it's just gray, but I will be casting a bunch of them in clear resin. Here is what I have so far.
I couldn't seem to get an angle that gave a good sense of what it looked like, so I decided to put together a mini to model it! (GW figure shown for scale purposes only)
I started out with this:
And ended up with this!
And then I made this:
I also got some work done on the Female Military Leader #2.
Head:
And the body so-far: (I removed her breasts, and I re-did them. They just didn't look right before, but I think they look much better now. I still need to re-do the lapels and collar of the coat.)
The model will be separated at the waist, neck and arms for posability, and to make it easier to cast. But this might make it more difficult to put together in the end, so I may have to think about this a bit.
Here is the mace held by my new "Scowcase Model". (GW figure shown for scale purposes only)
The Nuka-Cola advertising is hilarious And I like the new commissar's cap
As for the mace... The skull on the top looks a bit oversized for my taste. Thus I think that the mace needs a bigger "blades" or a smaller skull... Or some other element instead, like a pike or something... Just my 2c.
Nuka-Cola ONLY comes in Original, Nuka-Cola Quantum, Nuka-Cola Quartz, Nuka-Cola Clear, Nuka-Cola Victory, Nuka-Cola Cherry, Nuka-Cola Yellow, and Nuka-Cola Fusion.
"-and all that time in Paris, when you were wallowing in debauchery with your doxies, tarts and pirates... you were trying to convince me you were a disgusting, swinish, lecherous, drunken sot... Well I want you to know it worked.
Well done."

Nuka Cola Quantum has 2X Calories, 2X Carbs, and 2X Taste! (as well as a mild isotope to make it glow

well...jake... the last greater update was a long time ago... so i knew the next big thing would be a big one...and you delivered it big time no end!
the advertisment reminded me of barney stinson... true story bro! the raised thumb... priceless! but you hit the bottom of the awsome barrel with the nuka cola bottle... man that is so tiny and yet to cool shaped...! in clear resin this will be mind blowing!!! and no doubt about it! could you do a shot with the cap on the bottleneck?
the new female military leader cap looks totally to the point...the peaked point that is! thats the look we were waiting for!
but:
And the body so-far: (I removed her breasts, and I re-did them.
...now do we feel a bit And the body so-far: (I removed her breasts, and I re-did them. or what? when you see this model through... with posable arms...maybe even compatible to other limbs that are out there available that would be something i would want in my ranks too...female leaders... now that is something to put the fear into my chaps for sure too!!!
if i may ad my 2c worth of thoughts regarding the mace... i think i would like to see the mace without some topping so to speak... you earlier mentioned to add batwings as the blades for the mace head... i think spike/skull/ball...they are either not what i would want to see...but the wings for blades...that would be a seller for me!...just saying^^
at dave... in the beginning of that vid...i didn´t get much of that weird southern accent... it is so sing song voice... i dunno how them boys from alabama can manage that^^

Quoted for truth. That's definitely sounds like a great idea!
Maybe not the wings, but the "blades" on the mace with an interesting and fairly exotic form will looks much better, I believe.
Something like that:
Jake, is that bottle just your sculpting material?

Actually, it is Though WoW weapons are not the best example of a good arms design, this one I've posted for the visualisation of my thoughts regarding the winged mace "blades"
hah! i knew two years in wow were not for naught^^...well actually they were totally worthless as i spent too much money on a game that reminded me in the end of a workday clad in fantasy^^
yep...the wingdesign i understood... referrence is good...tho the hint on thousand sons is quite alarmingly^^
Oh, don't you tell me about WoW... I've been playing the damn game since the release, though not constantly... The best and the worst memories of my gaming expirience are linked to this MMO.

I'll make a few different tops for the mace and see what looks better.
I had no idea what flavors Nuka came in, thanks for the list Chemical Cutthroat!
Dave, it sounds like JOLT cola from the 80's! I miss Jolt.
@ El Vic, LOL. True story! I'll tack the cap onto the bottle and get a shot before I make the mold. Thanks on the FML, I finally got my inspiration back! I had a pretty bad case of sculpter's block for a while. I don't follow on the next bit, about re-doing the breasts...but I'll get a pic of the arms on a cadian for scale, and see if they could work. I mean, there is nothing overtly female about the arms, except that they might be on the "thin" side, but the gloved hands are about the same size as a cadian.
@ Ish - I had mentioned the "wings" earlier as a possible staff for Miss Dee's "Naval Psychic Communications and Directional Officer", (I need to think of a better word for Navigator.) I think this one would be too small for that kind of detail. And did you post a pic too? I can't see it. (Dangit! Ninja'd!)
Dave, Yes, it's just ProCreate. I used a sewing needle as structural support during sculpting so I could take it out easier.
Thanks for the support, tips, suggestions and general feed back everyone!

Can you massage the bottle slightly and give it a slight bit more of the Nuka bottle hips? Or is it cured?
That one looks exactly like the dirty water bottle though!! Masking tape label with water written in blue inkpen

Sorry Vic, I usually get puns, but I'm having an off day I guess.
@ Ish - still no go, but if it has to do with WoW, I'm not surprised, it's blocked by my work computer.
Dave, I had been taking a look at pics online of the Nuka-Cola bottles, and yes, I want to give the "hips" more of a curve. I had done the sculpt without any reference, and that never turns out well.
I might make a cast of this shape first though, so I have a variety of shapes to work with.
I might even paint one up to look like the "dirty water" bottle!

Your nuka cola spokesman is absolutely fantastic - really made me laugh. Your skull masks are really impressive! I'd definitely be interested in some clear resin bottles too if you ever happened to make them available - absolutely invaluable for wasteland basing / terrain. Keep up the great work: really inspiring stuff you're doing at the mo!

My internet's been screwed for the past week or so, so I'll try and catch up tomorrow ^^
DS:90-S++G+++M++B++I+Plotr06#+D+++A++++/eWD251R+++T(Ot)DM+ JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles. corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day. greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

Er...Word Nazi time. "Morale" not "moral". /Word Nazi time
The FML hands look large (man-hands) but objects that small must be hard as hell to sculpt. The thumbs up hand is a bit off as well (in shape, not size), but it also must be hard as hell to sculpt that at all so kudos for going after it.
The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.
Thanks JB, I have never been known as a good speller. I try to be carefull, and you won't catch me typing in "text speak" other then "lol", but a good speller? no. But at least it was spelled right! Just the wrong word! I guess the morale of the story is, I need to proof read more than once!
Yes, sculpting at this scale is tricky, but, the thumbs-up hand was just done quickly, for the pose, but I may keep it. I have sanded it down a bit, it looks better, but the wrist angle is all wrong, so I might re-do it.
The FML man-hands, yes they are big, but she is wearing gloves, and much thinner, and the fingers would snap right off, I think. Who knows.
@ Ish - Thanks! I can see that! that would be a good mace for Pre-heresy 1000 sons!
I did get the bottle molded last night, and the first cast this morning came out great! I didn't have my camera at home, or I would have posted a pic. Now I am going to file down the "hips" of the bottle to get that coke-bottle look, and make a mold of that too. Before you know it, I'll have a selection of bottles!
I also made a mold of this guy:
The mold came out OK I think, but the cast did not. I need to make the intake hole in the mold larger, but I didn't have time this morning.
