Sorry, I thought I forgot to inclulde that.

It's a Kinex TitanFall Atlas

They retail for $40 but they didn't sell well and are on clearance in most stores.

I bought mine at A.C,Moore for $20, and Target has it for $19.99, but online only

I coulda sworn that wasn't how you spelled it... but that's what the wiki said and I watched it in the days before subtitles were as readily available. Yay points.

WHat is that some kind of lego monstrosity? I only ask as the guy standing by it vaguely looks like a lego minifig.

Pretty large and interesting look to it. Shame it doesn't play well, that's the main benefit usually

Same price on amazon, too bad I'm on a spending freeze

Yeah those are both pretty neat I can see why you did.

Right now I'm stockpiling just in case our closing costs end up higher than expected, and to start saving for winter. If it turns out I manage to save more than enough for winter ahead of time.. I can always splurge a bit around black friday.

Having seen how articulated the dreamforge leviathan is (at least the 15mm variant, surely the other one is the same as it looks to be just a resized digital sculpt), I pretty much have to get one of those at some point. Would need the capacitor cooler to look more modern though, and then I'd want all of the stupid fancy arms. And a more scifi-friendly head/cockpit.

I could always settle on the k'nex as above but if they tend to fall apart while you're posing them I dunno if that's what I"m after.

The arms and legs pretty much click into place, but there are all these little detail bits that, while looking cool, barely hold on. As a gaming a model I would simply glue all those into place to solve that issue, but as a kids toy, it's pretty crap.

With the new Imperial Knight's codex floating around, I figured it would be a nice source of parts for proxies.

I may have to check and see if they have any of those around here. I'm still technically building a Knight army.

Dayum. That titanfall thing is HEEE-OOOGE. And for 20 bucks... I may just have to get one... just because.

I was considering getting a leviathan or something to fight my bigass bones not-tarrasque but for 20 bucks that guy may just do the trick... Maybe even too big crap...

As usual, thanks for sharing

I was searching around and found out there's a whole set:
http://www.amazon.com/Knex-Titanfall-Ultimate-Campaign-Building/dp/B00IIHN6F8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1432082366&sr=8-2&keywords=k%27nex+titanfall

So if you consider it 20 bucks a robot (and the ogre is usually 25 on amazon) you get 3 large-ish scifi buildings for 20-25 bucks. Kind of impressive. Tall stuff too, to go with the mechs.

May have to wait for my amazon points to turn over one more time... pretty sweet.

You could have your own Pacific Rim battles !!

I had seen the terrain in store. The sprocket like pieces in the corners kill it for me. Other than that it looked pretty good.

I'm kicking myself a bit for not picking up some of the larger models in Bones 2. They look great and the KS prices are as cheap as your ever going to get them.

Yeah, that's the main thing keeping me potentially pledging for bones3... The individuals are cheaper than retail but only so much.. but the big dudes... 25 or 35 dollars during KS turns into 75 or better at retail.

I was thinking that if I did get that scenery, it would be assaulted with plasticard and other scratchbuilding materials, probably with some of those sprocket things clilpped or cut away.

So how well does the Atlas articulate? Could you give it a kneeling or sitting position?

Me too... its spilling out into normal life, if I have to buy anything full price that isn't regular food/groceries I get this weird twitch.

I have to remind myself that the prices are real and that I won't be getting a 20-33% discount if I get that item from Miniature Market lol.

Sooooo, in the interest of finishing my Chaos Daemons, I attached wings to my custom Fateweaver, started building an Ork trukk, and got most of the way through building a 10"x17" bridge. Modelling A.D.D. for the win !

I've seemingly always juggled more modelling prijects than I know what to do with, but lately I've been happy to remain focussed on a single army long enough to see results. The Ork truck struck me as particularly random, since I have no intention of playing Orks any time soon.

A joke about playing against myself, while talking to my friends about gaming this weekend, sparked an idea I'm excited about.
A 2,000 point Battle between my Necron Scarab Farm and my Daemon Factory lists
Even plan on taking a ton of pics for an Epic Batrep.

SCARAB FARM - 1st turn charge, grows by 200 points per turn, 4+ RP, mid range fire power

DAEMON FACTORY - PWNs Psychic Phase, grows by roughly 200 points per turn, MC's that Necrons are crap against in assault, zero ranged firepower

Standard lists, no tailoring, will make this a tough matchup.
The bane of the Daemon Factory list is a strong alpha strike army and the Scarab Farm can deliver both a disruptive first turn charge and a respectable amount of fire power.
Scarab Farms crumble against foes who quickly dispatch Spyders and Scarabs. Greater Daemons are great at both of those tasks, while Screamers can fly over the waves of Scarabs and attack the Spyders directly.

---------------------

Looked into a Tyranid list with 4 Tervigons, spawning 12d6 Termagants a turn. It's the stuff of nightmares. Logistically, it's insane to play. Not only buying, assembling, painting, and moving that many models, but just trying to fit 40ish additional models on the board each turn.

I like termagants, just not enough that I'd want to buy and paint hundreds of them.

They are just the last option for spawning additional models in large numbers that I have yet to explore.

For now at least, I'm sticking with Daemons.

Although I do have some ideas for a Tyrand army with as many Flyrants and Lictors I can fit in it. I own a lot of Lictors for some reason.

Warriors are my Tyranid of choice. I have a more than my fair share of them.

My 2nd Ed Tryanid Force had at least a dozen of the old metal Warriros in it. Sold them and the nightmare that was the metal Hormaguants when the plastics came out. I love the new plastic warrior model, but I've never been crazy about using them, other than for synapse.

I had an amazing 2000 point game last night, Chaos Daemons verses Salamanders. My Screamers were on his side of the board, while his drop pods were on mine, turn 1. It was very intense. He kept pressure on my forces, so I couldn't just sit back and summon, and he had soo many flamers and meltas with re-rolls. We played a Maelstrom mission, and things evidently went as Tzeentch planned. He claimed first blood, wiping out a squad of 8 screamers turn 1, but the other squad of screamers would just not die, reguardless of how much firepower he poured into them. There was action all over the board. I am upset that it didn't occur to me to take pictures until it was over. The pyschic phase was all mine, since he hadn't brought any librarians, but it didn't go as well as I would have liked. I was able to manage 5 possessions over the course of the game, but they were all over the board, so I coudn't get any of them to team up. I used a half dozen psychic Shrieks and only one of them managed any wounds, and that was with using fateweavers -re-roll ablity.

Speaking of Fateweaver... He dropped 2 drop pods full of heavily armed marines within inches of Fateweaver and dumped EVERYTHING into Fateweaver. Something like a Dozen melta shots, and a snap firing lascannon that hit, and Fateweaver managed to fly away with only 2 wounds. He ended the game with only a single wound remaining, and it was only through a ton of amazingly fortunate saves that he didn't give up a Slay the Warlord VP. He did manage a single turn where he took out out 7 of his pursuers with a succesful Psychic Scream/Smite combo.

My All-Star was Medusa. She started the game as a herald on a disc, following the unkillable screamers across the board, and blossomed into a Keeper of Secrets in the opponents deployment zone. She single handedly eliminated a Devastator Squad and Predator Tank, leaving the Screamers nothing to do but fly around around her looking kool and soaking up wounds.

Tried Screamerstar, but could not get both the Grimoire and a Cursed Earth on them at the same time. So they ran around with 3+ saves, re-rolling ones, and managed only 2 casualties after the Grimoire holder was murdered in assault by a Dreadnaught.

He conceded the game turn 4, deciding he couldn't close the 8 to 3 victory point gap, certain I was going to add Slay the Warlord and LIne Breaker to my total.

I don't know why I love Warriors so much but I do. Warriors and Carnifexes are my favorite tyranid models. *shrugs*

They are both damn fine models.

Unrelated, I randomly came across some terrain pics I posted on Heroscapers.com back in 2010

COMIKAZI - Comics and Gaming Shop
Spoiler:

I should mention that if the color looks odd it's because I printed the main building in black and white on yellow cardstock. No color printer was in my possesion at the time. The Color Details were printed on a 4x6 glossy sheet for $.19 at the local 1 hour photo

Comikazi was my favorite local gaming shop from the day it opened till the day they sold it.

I signage is as close to the acutal signs as I could get. The Comic's Fan Parking only sign, was just for fun.

The Iron Man art was just cool looking, and frankly a lot more interesting than a plain brick wall.

Pocket D is an extradimensional Dance Club, from the City Of Heroes MMO. There would be doors in different cities that all lead to the same club that was floating in extradimensional space. You would find Pocket D posters near locations of doorways there.

MC DOOMS- Fast Food Resturaunt
Spoiler:

The Stock Mc Dooms sign is a half Circle. I cut mine down the charecter.

Mc Dooms comes with a hex option, but it's not to scale with heroscape. I printed a blank hex sheet over my roof tile to make it more heroscape friendly.

The stock pole does not come with any base. It's assumed you'll glue it into cardstock, or something similar. I used a blank height 3 single hex and added a concrete texture to it. I then figured out how to cut a space for the pole, leaving the flaps inside, so the glue had something solid to hold onto. Now I have a sturdy base that happens to be Heroscape compatible.

GOLDEN SHIELD - Gas Station
Spoiler:

It may be hard to make out, but the cashier's booth has an actual window. I used transparancy cut down to fit.

The Gas Prices Sign is sandwiched between two layers of clear plastic. It makes it sturdier and more realistic in appearance.

The original poles were square. I used the art, but wrapped it around bic pens to create round poles.

The original roof design is hollow, and flimsy. Mine has 2 layers of foamboard in it making it quite durable and a lot less prone to warping.

The Cola machine is a Heroclix model.

The gas pumps are a hydrid plastic and card model. I liked the head of the streets of mayhem gas pumps, but didn't like the body. I had some plastic gas pumps from a dollar store race car set and figured out a way to jam them together. Then I repainted the plastic bits.

The roof is hexless, but I have a transparency for that.

DRAKES - TV & Radio Repair
Spoiler:

Drakes started out as a free sample from Microtactix for the Twilight Street Terrain line. It was scaled for 1"/25mm gaming, making it too small for Heroscape/Heroclix sized models.

I coverted the PDF to JPGs. Enlarged the building to a proper scale. The orginal model is basically a box, but I decided to make the doorway recessed. I also needed to make custom edging for the roof and doorway to accomodate the foamcore.

I changed some of the colors on the signage and had it printed on a 4x6 Photo at the local 1 hour photo. For $.19 I got glossy signage that was extra durable.

The original file was 25mm scale but I beefed it up and put it back together as a PDF available here

ECKELSON - Electric Supply Co.
Spoiler:
