Only if GW put that much effort into WHF!
I'd play LOTR but it's already played out -- Mordor and Isengard fall, and all that.
I'd consider it if it was focused more "Post War of the Ring" era...I'd like to run a force of Uruk-hai that escaped the fall of Isengard or something.

I much prefer the lotr "Empire" over the Gw "Empire" any day...even though they are a different time and all that, but they just make the humans look like realistic humans. That's a bit missing in Fantasy.

Glad someone could post pics right out of white dwarf. Anyway the Arnor foot soldiers and the rangers are plastic. Others should be metal.

This is Aragorn's Dad? "Fear me for I shall Wave at the enemy" Definately he needs something in that open hand. Sheilds all round I think , or a dagger. And the prize for Hammiest character goes to....

I think you mean to say "if only the Perrys would sculpt for WHFB instead of the less skilled sculpters we are currently subjected to". That, in my opinion, is the greatest problem with LotR, it takes the Perrys away from projects which would make GW more money. I say this as someone who buys a ton of Perry sculpted figures, both 40k and WHFB, as well as Necromunda and LotR.

True, I think you got it on the head there. It seems that some great scuplters are being lost to main GW games, running to the exile of the undying lands. Like Brian Nelson, and the Perrys. The new WHFB Empire stuff is horrible and a travesty compared to the original perry sculpts. The orcs were rather dire too. woe

You can find lots of someones who think the old empire guys look better than the new drek. LotR has a seeming monopoly on GW's best sculpting talent for both metal & plastics. It's also where I point anyone when they say the many poorly sculpted plastic kits were done so out of "necessity", as the LotR plastics have very fine detail (for plastics) and properly scaled & proportioned appendages. Unlike most WHFB & 40k kits... (even taking into consideration WHFB/40k's "heroic" scale).

You can find lots of someones who think the old empire guys look better than the new drek. Like me. The new Empire stuff seems pretty damn OTT to me. The Halberdier/Swordsman box seems salvageable - you could clip off most of the excess. But the most of the rest just seems a wee bit too much for me. But then I just love the Perry brothers' human being sculpts.

I guess I just find it a little hard to believe that GW can not find someone that can do a decent realistic looking human. They would be ok if the feathers werent ten feet tall. I dont know they just do not fill me with the need to replace my old models.... maybe I am getting old. Of course maybe I am just bitter that I started and finished 2500 points of Empire before realizing new models were coming out..... who knows.

But see, GW did find people that can do realistic humans, the Perry Brothers! Just look at all those lovely LotR figs... (yes, they have long needed to shunt resources back to WHFB/ 40k to stem the tide of total destruction to miniatures lines that LotR seems to be causing. Empire, Space Marines, Eldar, O&G, all seem to be getting the big shaft with some of the fugliest OTT figures to come about since 2nd edition 40k....)
