I finished up the scouts. Freehand stuff is hard! I guess I just need practice at it. The should pads look much better from far away haha. Also tried a different technique with the eyes. I usually lay down some white then dot it with black. This time I applied black first and then put two white dabs on either side of the middle... then I tried to clean it up with some tanned flesh so they didn't look too bugged eyed.

I can probably get better results if I slowed down... I don't know what it is... I like have this compulsion to get the stuff done as soon as possible... you'd think I had some weird deadline or something.

Basecoat Straken Green

Applied a bit of Reikland Fleshshade

Layered on a bit more Straken Green to clean up the shading

Edge highlighted the top of the Land Raider Crusader with Ogryn Camo... I still have to do the sides...

It's part of my new approach to how I want to collect/play MEQ armies.

Instead of going for one Chapter as far as play style or collecting, I'll be going for a more generic type of thing. Pretty much I chose a color/scheme that I like and will now paint Space Marines in that color. Then when it comes down to playing I'll pretty much do the 'count as (choose your MEQ)' type of thing. I'm calling my Space Marines the 'Heralds of Rizal' and depending on what type of list I play they are 'counts as' whatever. For example, maybe I want to play Deathwing... I'll build/paint an army in my colors still call them the 'Heralds of Rizal' and say their 'counts as Deathwing'. If I want to play Ravenwing, I'll build/paint a bike army in my colors and they'll be 'counts as Ravenwing'. If I want to play Space Wolfs, I'll build/paint an army based off the codex and they'll 'counts as Space Wolfs'.

Ultimately I want to bring some kind of unity to my collecting while being able to play other MEQ armies which I really like. I already have a series of Deathwing, Ravenwing, and generic Space Marine lists waiting in the wings.

I was going to wait till I finished this Black Templars project for The Independent Characters Hobby Progress Challenge, but I thought, why wait, and decided to dive into my intended paint scheme after I got at least 1K done of the default 'Black Templars' scheme.

I'm really excited about this. Not only am I planning multiple lists for multiple armies but I'm also planning my own versions of certain characters. For example I'm going to build my own version of Sammael on Corvex using a Forgeworld Hover Bike and Vanguard Veterans bits.

Good plan. I've got away from my DA because of the butthurt people got when I used a different codex (due to DA book being bad). No one seems to mind Red Scorpions in different flavors, being an unknown founding chapter, and less known anyways.

Project Blood Angels - 10 June 2014 - Here is the army and the tools that will be involved in a project I’ve been commissioned to do. This will be my first try at a commission type thing; also this will be the first time I’m going to be using my airbrush.

The army:

Yesterday evening and today’s work consisted of drilling holes in barrels, putting some sand on the bases, priming the models, then trying out the airbrush. The Stormraven won’t be part of the army. It was more of a test subject for me trying out the airbrush for the first time.

I'll try to get some more pictures of it posted up. They're all redded up and weapons painted. I tried to do a zenithal lighting thing with them but it didn't work out to well. At least not for the Terminators... for the Land Raider Redeemer I got built it looks like I 'kind of' got it.

I tried it a few times, ended up just starting over and doing my multiple washes with some highlights. I haven't even shaded anything lately, I find I like the washes with a few highlights as it gives a grittier look.

I was thinking about doing that with this army... just wash it all in Nuln Oil and then layer/highlight with Wasdakka Red or something.

Osl is a little heavy for my tastes, but your paint is looking better, less heavy handed. Keep going and improving!

Here are some pics of Cygnar work I'm in the process of finishing up. I just got done with 50pts and tried to seal the army but it got a little foggy. I'm going to have to fix that. Also have tons of other Cygnar pieces to repair/assemble... don't know if I'll paint them though. Probably just sell them.

I also have some pictures of Epic 40000 stuff I started working on. They're my first Epic models... in fact 1st 6mm models (that is the scale right?).
