2k points of demons looks relatively small, I'd expect it from a GK force, but in my head, demons should have lots of smaller demons!

How long do you envisage the full army to take painting wise? a month? 2 months?

Yeah it's smaller than I thought it would be. I think its because I have Skarbrand, a Daemon Prince, and 2 Soul Grinders eating up points.

I'm about finished with the army. I'd say from building it to sealing it this evening it took me something like 2 weeks. I could probably have gotten it done sooner but I took a lot of breaks to get some other stuff done... also some evenings after work I didn't feel like doing anything. I think I probably could have gotten this army done in a week if I really stuck to it.

I may have to put it off for a while... at least maybe till June. I've got stuff coming in but I'm going to have to turn around and sell it to make payment on a bunch of expenses because some eBay listings of mine aren't going as planned.

Bummer to hear. You are definitely getting better at painting while keeping a tremendous pace, so I enjoy seeing you keep moving forward. I'm sure you'll be getting a pm from me though, you know I cant turn down a good deal.

So it probably won't be till June, but next project is just plain... HERESY!

Yes! Heretic fur all around! So much heretic fur you'll need one of them special lint removers.

So no furry heresy yet... not even normal heresy... This month of April... work on a termie chaplain.

And here... we... GO!

Here are the 3 final projects before I go into another hobby hiatus:

1. Space Marine Terminator Chaplain - This is for a sort of unofficial contest here on dakka dakka. Still unsure as to what chapter to represent on the one colored shoulder pad. Probably some chapter found in the generic Space Marine codex; maybe Ultramarines.

2. Space Marine Bike - This is actually part of an attack bike that I got from a sale here on dakka dakka. I just found out a couple bits are missing on the side car sprue so I'm just going to build the bike part and paint it. Not sure what chapter.

3. Ork Slugga boy. I pieced this one from spare parts given to me in a trade.

After these three are done, I'm going to have to put away the hobby stuff again. I'm running out of resources. Trying to do an army like I planned is not financially possible.

So enough whining! Am I right?!

On to the work...

Here is where the magic will happen.

Some new items I attained prior to finding that I can't really afford to be getting stuff like this.

Some of the stuff I have left.

My cutting mat. This thing has been with me since San Luis Obispo, CA.

Just some light work this evening. Going to clean up this guy: Phranq da tank.

Here is how he is now.

And here he is after a teensy bit of work. In the light I had to work with it looked like I caught a lot. However after seeing these upclose pictures with a flash, I can see I missed a lot.

That'll be all for the evening. It's a pain in the butt working with the light that I have in my room. I'm going to have to rob Peter to pay Paul and find something somewhere in the apartment I can use.

EDIT:

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

/cliche

Lo and thus Francissicus explored the far reaches of The Apartment and brought back to The Room the legendary Lamp of Desk! For paint, the search continues...

EDIT 2:

Phranq Vs. Warkittie Titan

Is he going to be holding something in the hand? A skull would give him a funny look. Make it a human skull with an Commisar hat, call it "Alas, por Yarrik".

He's supposed to have a kind of "Come and get me!" or "Bring it!" type pose. But your idea sounds good! haha

Here are tonight's players in the performance.

Citadel Fine Detail Cutters (these will definitely be replaced when I can afford it)

Sprues for the Finecast Space Marine Terminator Chaplain

The pieces cut and (mostly) cleaned of excess/flash/whatever

The only real big blemishes were at the bottom of the torso: air bubbles that I won't bother with since they'll be covered up once the model is complete.

After looking at the pics in the gallery, I'm definitely thinking I need to find my digital camera that I used to use instead of my phone that I have been using lately. Another thing I'm definitely going to need is some bits for my pin vise. The current one on it seems like it's snapped or something; the end on it looks weird. Gotta drill them barrels!

Pictures from this evening's work

The sprues and bits used

I used glue from the Army Painter line of hobby stuff; when I opened the bottle I found that some glue had pooled in the reservoir at the base of the tip; much fun very surprise.

Here is the Terminator Chaplain pieced together; I started with gluing the torso to the base and after that I set it aside while putting the bike together. I then finished the assembly of the Chaplain with the arms. The barrels still need drilling; I still need a pin vise or drill.

Here is the assembly pics for the bike portion of the biker.

Here is the assembly of the biker; The biker parts are glued together but not to the bike; just like with the Chaplain's storm bolter, I need to drill out the barrels of the twin-linked bolters of the bike.

And the finished assembly; next up is more cleaning (clearing any more mold lines or excess and drilling of barrels).

Found a pin vise. Did some barrel drilling. I used a dental tool to mark where the pin vise would be applied then slowly drilled into the barrel.

Found some stuff to use for my hobby work!

Found a box in a corner of the closet and SURPRISE!... basing sand and some pots of paint. I've done this so many times... buy stuff and forget about it.

I picked up some plastic party plates to use as palettes.

Last night I did some basing. Simple stuff. Glue and sand. I let it dry overnight.

I decided to try the citadels Imperial Primer. I've used brush on primers before and they were fine.

After vigorous shaking, I gave it a try. It was terrible. It was coming on like some kind of ink or wash. Not at all like a primer. At first I thought maybe that its some kind of special thing with Citadel's primer.

After giving the model a coat of the stuff I looked at it and was kind of unsatisfied. I looked online about it and turns out you really REALLY have to shake it good. Some folks mention that they had to stir it with something in the pot and still shake it and still the results were sub par. I took a small stir stick and used it on the pot of primer. I then shook it for maybe 2 or 3 minutes. It came on better but still not as good as say Reaper's paint on primer. Very disappointing

First layer of paint on the Chaplain. I am soooo out of practice. Paint probably could have been thinner. Could have been a lot neater too. Next is a wash, then after that picking out the details.
I probably could use a better setup for pictures too.
