In before MLP-fied Razorgor.

Another way to look at this goes out to a freind of mine who liked the Gummy Bears.
He told us to not think of them as Breas, but Gnomes, and it worked.
If you look at it they are Heroic Level Adventures dealing with only the town they are in, they will look alot diferent than you are now.
One of the more amazing things about the show is the amount of rabid hate it generates almost immediately. It's especially amazing the amount of rabid hate it generates from people who have never seen it and have no idea what it actually is / is about.
There's a pretty decent summary image:

..this has been brewing for a while it would seem.

I honestly think the hate is, in and of itself, a reaction to how popular the show got so fast. Since it exploded so rapidly, people lashed out against it. Espescially since, on the surface, it seems like it'd be the same crappy MLP show that was in the 80s.
But once they watch it...well, I've seen a large amount of people converted once they decided to sit down and watch it.

oh feth,i broke my promise to myself time to fall on my katana.
i never fully hated it,i just didnt like it because i dont like rainbows and ponies and colorful happy times. those still hold it back from being on my top 10 list, but even with those its on my top 15 list, which is impressive and deserves a .
i think the reason they hate it is because there guys and they think guys should not like cute, ponies, rainbows, and the like. but the thing is thats not what makes me like the show, its the story and the goofy (if not almost scary at times) characters.

I also find the constant "It's for little girls!" amusing. There are a number of hilarious references that are just about impossible for a child to get. Hell, I'm not even sure most teenagers today would get references to:
1. Blazing Saddles
2. 2001: A Space Odyssey
3. The Troubles with Tribbles
4. Road Runner / Wile E. Coyote (<-- holy smokes I wish I were wrong on this one. )
5. 1984 (the movie, not the year )
for starters.

So, the reason the show is good, is because of Lauren Faust, agreed?
Agreed. The show would be gak without her.
Kasrkai wrote:Then season 2 will suck, because she's stepping down from lead on the show.
She's stepping down as executive producer, but she's said she's not leaving the show entirely. From what several people who have worked /are working on it have said, there shouldn't be any real noticeable change.
I'll give it a shot, at the very least.

Indeed, I'm going to at least watch Season 2. If the show has gone completely down the crapper without Lauren, then I'll stop, but it seems like the new produce is highly aware of the adult male fandom, so hopefully that's a good sign.
Oh and.

And finally, I'll leave this here:
C.S. Lewis wrote:Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.
