Hmmm.. How about anybody convicted of an alcohol related offense is no longer eligible to purchase alcohol?

I'm for it, especially if you've had a DUI, but how do you implement it? Have an Alcohol database? Check everyone's Legal to Buy Alcohol cards? What?

Specially marked ID's and required ID checks for all purchases seems like a clean way to do it.

Edit: Although just for the record, I'm not seriously suggesting it, although honestly the idea is growing on me. Someone who has been convicted of a DUI has shown the state that they can't handle alcohol responsibly.

Edit Edit: Can a fellow gun rights advocate tell me if there's anything conflicting between wanting something like this and being pro-rights?

Start a thread about alcohol and I will post on it. Nor do I particularly consider my posts railing against guns - at least my posts that go beyond "if only X had a gun, then it would have been magically safe from all harm" anyway

Slightly different type of thread there. Just as I dont post on threads talking about enjoying guns to talk about gun control (generally at least... i dont recall having done so), it is also not appropriate to post on a thread about enjoying alcohol to talk about the dangers of alcohol etc...

But it's appropriate to post in this "good" thread, and try to bring it down?

Though you could just make a dangers of alcohol thread and try to keep them next to each other if you wanted to. I'd expect it to die way earlier though.

Do you think it's going to boost their sales by more than $15 million?

Back on topic... Even at those prices they would have to sell allot of a very specialized rifle to make that money back. 3000 odd. If I had the money I would be very interested in one of the HTI's in a 50 BMG (Large caliber, bullpup and not that expensive for what it is. Ticks allot of boxes), but I don't think there is a huge market for any them, and I don't have that much money.

Actualy, forget that about the price... I didn't read the cost properly... I was just looking at the chassis price. It's more than a Steyr 50 cal...

Does broken instruments snagged from customs count as sustainable?

The argument had already started by the time I posted. And I posted to point out an error, not to talk about gun control or indeed anything else.

First they refused to sell guns to Pakistan, and I did nothing.

Then, they refused to sell guns to Iran, and I still did nothing.

Then, they refused to sell guns to North Korea, and I still did nothing.

Now, they will not sell guns to my militia, and there is no one left to help me!

yes, the issuance of licenses, to the law abiding, because the non law abiding are banned through lack of licensing, does not work.

the license can be forged, or you can straw buy around it, not to mention the obligatory red tape and fees the law abiding must now pay for their gun/liquor drinking licence.

here, we have mandatory gun licenses, and people with lifetimes firarm prohibitions STILL get weapons, and STILL somehow slip though and get licenses sometimes.

the REAL thing to do, it have an actual database of people who are banned from owning guns or buying booze, and it has to be tied to a national, if not international ID system (ie drivers license, SS #, pass port)

that way we have the exact same process for the law abiding we have now (ie show valid ID and you are good to go) and the same for the non lawful (show ID, system flags you as prohibited from that item, and you dont get to buy it)

still wont get around straw purchases, but nothing really will.
