I'd back the idea that Scions are selling well enough, having grabbed a box from my local GW I'm now having to wait until next weeks delivery to come in to grab my second box. The store managed said they'd been flying off the shelves since release.

So you can, if you want but an army for $800.

Not a good deal in my eyes. I wouldn't start this army and at that price I doubt too many people would either.

They probably wanted to see how it would do on sales. Since the taurox wasn't a big seller and 5 itty bitty models for $35 wasn't so popular either they decided to stop production.

Nobody is telling you that you have to and based on how fast the book sold out it seems many people do like it.

I wonder where you are getting your information on the Taurox and Scions from, I had to trail around three of my local GWs last week as the Scions sold out. They have been hugely popular and tbh are the only new releases I have seen in a while to be so popular. Sure £21 is pricey for 5 models but if someone is happy to pay that for the 5 awesome models with the ridiculous amount of options and extras then thats great and obviously people are. As for the Taurox I see a lot of positivity towards it, it just so happens the complainers are often a lot louder and more vocal.

People always seem to bitch about everything GW does, hell if they invented a cure for cancer people would complain it was too overpriced or its too cheesy.

At the end of the day I like the new MT codex. I found the fluff interesting, the colour schemes and info on each regiment useful and the rules more than suitable for my purpose. I plan on running them along side the Inquisitor codex for a Inquisitorial regiment. The models themselves are an absolute delight to put together and paint and they look amazing.

I'm not saying their not selling, it's going to look like they're the hot stuff when the store owner brings in 3 boxes. Only thing is that IG players are in abundance. It's a very popular army. I know 4 guys that play IG at our FLGS. I know one thing, those poor Taurox things aren't selling their.

I don't have any problem with the concepts, it's jsut that's it's $50 for what used to be chapter approved in a White Dwarf. And you got a painting guide and other neat stuff.

Fundmanetally, I think no one is really mad that GW is making us more content. Rather, more content that gives the perception of little intent of balance and charging a high premium that is the bad part.

Codex Elysians would be fantastic. I am glad that FW is less strict about their rules in at least how the dole them out. The IA books always feel like they are worth their higher price tag given most could crush small woodlen critters.

Heck, I've got the 2E Chaos codex, which threw in rules for Daemon World, Chaos Cult & Red Corsairs armies as well as the standard CSM list. How much would they set you back these days, do you reckon?

Just adding a confirmation to the mix from Customer Service (I asked about Color Sprays (because I'd heard claims it wasn't being made limited) and the Militarum codex:

Yes to both. When stock sells through, then their gone.

Also wrong "they're". Good job GW Customer Service!

I had a funny thought today. I was in 2 different LGS today and both had several copies on the shelf. How many are there out there in various LGS, collecting dust, while people can't find them on the WWW?

There were a couple at my nearest FLGS yesterday. I'm sure there are plenty out there. Unfortunately, like most limited edition GW things out there, people will buy them up to resell at even more outrageous prices on ebay.

I dunno, that's not always the case. I saw a copy of Dreadfleet in a store the other week

It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Then there's only 1 thing to do, snap it up and dump it on ebay...
If the locals don't want it, and if it's selling well on the internet, then you get to support your FLGS, and get a limited-run game to a willing buyer.

Dreadfleet is pretty fun IMHO, the problem is that once you play through it, its pretty much done. They could have kept interest in that alive had they simply released additional missions (I don't know maybe in WD? What a concept I know....) and/or additional ships.

Again for people too lazy to read the first post before posting:
1.) MT Codex sold out in North America on day 2.
2.) They got a second shipment.
3.) MT Codex sold out everywhere else on day 11 or 12. That's when this topic was started.
4.) GW customer support confirmed that there are no plans to reprint it, so it is indeed limited without advertised as such.
5.) A digital version for iPad only stays available. No ePub or mobi version planned.

Strange that they've went with the no reprint route.

I'm always doubtful of fully believing CS staff with regard to long term implications.

MT rules were basically a full army of Scion anyway, right?

I think they had some extra orders and maybe some other bits and pieces - so now we have a official Codex that only some people can have access to -- sigh............

Isn't all the codexes basically out of print after the first run? It was my understanding that they just print a huge first order/shipment for the demand they think they will have and then will just do another order as needed. For example, I doubt they are currently printing older books like Chaos and instead just shipping stock from their stock warehouse.

I am sure if their projections are off and they sell an insane amount of product in the first week or whatever they can do another run but that usually takes a couple of months to work itself through the printing and shipping process.

Temporarily out of stock. Australia and NZ seem to be exceptions at the moment.

Currently in-stock in USA and Canada.

GW probably prints very small amounts of books to try and save money, they also seem very bad and inept at managing these kinds of things. Has happened multiple times before.

I am not happy that you changed the thread title to something false and inconsistent with the original post and content of this thread.
I have to change some changes again, so that obviously false statements are removed.

On the other side I acknowledge that there seems to be a change of the official GW position.
While a week ago they confirmed to anyone asking that no reprint is planned, they are now not so sure anymore, maybe because of threads like this.

I think they had some extra orders
...which only apply to Tempestus Squads in a MT army. The wording is pretty definitive.

and maybe some other bits and pieces

Two formations, everything else is in the Astra Militarum book.

The only real significant difference is that the MT army cannot take Vendettas and their Valkyries cannot take any vehicle upgrades aside from the "basic" Valkyrie upgrades. So no Augur Arrays, no Relic Plating, etc.

I don't think there is any reason to believe GW suddenly started paying attention to internet forum complaints. From what I understand about this whole snafu, it was a matter of marketing and internal communication problems. I can't comment on the accuracy of reports of GW telling Europeans that C:MT is a limited edition. No one has reported hearing that from GW reps in the States as far as I know.

GW confirmed to several Dakka members, that no reprint is planned. This is a global statement, there is no such thing as a limited European stock and an unlimited US stock. I would appreciate, if noone would call the Dakka members liars who confirmed this. This is also a form of unpoliteness.

And it is no miracle, if say a hundred customers call GW about Codex availablility and GW then reconsiders its position that there is no interest in the Codex. They also changed the US status from "no longer available" to "cuttently in stock" after all.

Our GW rep where I am said the issue was people buying too many C:MTs because they thought it was the new IG dex. He never told anybody it was a limited edition or that no more would be printed.

Lo and behold, the book is back in stock here and listed as temporarily out of stock elsewhere.

Clearly, there was a miscommunication. Propagating that miscommunication has proven confusing to posters here.

So let's set the record straight:

C:MT is actually not a limited edition release. The book is instock on the US and Canadian sites, temporarily out of stock on the European sites, and missing on the Australian and New Zealand sites.
