He is not in a FW 30k book yet. Still waiting on his legion and Thousand sons

At one of the FW open day panels, they said the design team was having a hard time with game balance with Thousand Sons and existing legions. If I recall correctly.

Considering that he's been in the warp for 10,000 years and that the wulfen curse is at least partially a sort of space wolf immunity reaction to the warp, Russ being a giant wulfen is actually one of the more logical things to expect, to the point where it'd almost be complete bull gak if he wasn't a wulfen (then you'd have to ask how he avoided mutating for 10,000 years).

It would also provide a fluff explanation for Magnus' smug proclamation in the old Space Wolf novel that he knew where Russ was (IE, Magnus saying "Haha, Russ literally is a dumb animal now.") although I dunno if GW cares to reference such a thing.

If he gets a model, making him a giant wulfen also ensures he'll be significantly different from his 30k Forge World version, and that's pretty important, I think. If GW ever does introduce primarchs to 40k, I'm sure "Don't overlap with Forgeworld" is going to be one of their primary considerations.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

And people wonder why I prefer a static setting model for Warhammer fluff...

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Russ comes back and explains to people:

“I AM ALPHARIUS!”

(More seriously, could Leman Russ come back as a demon prince? Maybe Khornate? Who would think it is cool? I think I would!)

"Our fantasy settings are grim and dark, but that is not a reflection of who we are or how we feel the real world should be. That's why you have the stormsurge, just stomp on them. And xenos aren't "supposed" to win games anyway.

I will laugh my ass off if he really does get a model and he's just a giant, goofy-looking wulfen. God, 40k is getting so stupid.

Right. Is this why most of the time the Imperium loses in the story? Because It feels like the Imperium's major victories have been costly at best. The latest Tau campaign book was a shining example of this.
Currently, the major power players in 40K are Xenos armies. Necrons, Tau Eldar.... Or are those all imperial armies?

Yes, and it pisses people off, doesn't it? Hence why I said xenos aren't "supposed" to win...because when they do, people bitch. When xenos armies can hold their own on the tabletop and be competitive, as opposed to the NPC/comedic relief pushover races like Tyranids and Orks, who just die like they're "supposed" to and barely even put up a fight, people bitch. In the fluff, if the Imperium doesn't outright stamp out a xenos race and wipe them from the setting, and with regards to Tau at least is what a lot of people seem to desperately want, people bitch.

And when the Imperium "loses" it doesn't really feel like a loss to me. The Imperium is so massive that losing a planet here or there hardly seems to matter. Their recent "loss" to the Tau probably hurt their ego more than anything else. I can safely say the result of War Zone Damocles didn't mean a fething thing to me and the only reason I was at all interested in it were the updated FSE rules, which came out on their own later anyway. I kinda wish the Imperium did win in the end because it would have made Imperial fanboys feel better, without affecting anything else, really. They'd still keep producing Tau models, I'd still get to keep playing my army, and that's all I give a gak about in the end.

Well, the death of the Raven Guard Chapter Master effected me, if only because it made me sad that Captain, Now Chapter Master, Shrike's rules are so terribly crap.

Tau lost Aun'va, too, who was a pretty important character with a model that's been around for about 10 years. And even that isn't really a big deal because he was replaced with a hologram.

Nothing was really "lost", though. The Raven Guard still have a chapter master (and this one actually has a model), the Tau still kinda have Aun'va, and we can both keep playing with our toys. Well, theoretically we could, since I play Tau I'm effectively not "allowed" to play 40k anymore as no one in their right mind would agree to a game with me as long as I'm bringing them. Isn't being a "power player" in 40k great?!

Hey, I don't even play 40k that much anymore. 30k is waaaay better balanced, and the marines have actual flavour instead of just being super-friends and Gladius. Also, hey, if you don't bring a Riptide wing and two stormsurges, Id be happy to play you. Won't even bring a LoW if you don't want me to

As much as there are whiners of the Tau there is an equally large fanbase. I've heard the Riptide sold insane amounts and made mad cash for them. The Tau are sneaky like that. We started off small and even small fanbase but as the years go by we're progressing further than any of the other factions. Look at our last update. All the new models and great rules we got. The Tau haters can go suck it. The Ta'unar Supremacy Armor sold out at FW and they demand was unprecedented. It won't be long until we have Warzone Ultramar: Kauyon & Mont'ka. We'll probably lose, but hey imagine how awesome big our faction would have to be to pull that ballsey move. Our day is coming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj3-VkbRSKQ

I wish all the Xenos got such love and attention maybe more people would play them then.

I like the post/theory by Mr. Triszin

Spoiler:

"The Warp

They would have made him their master. Beastlord. Wolfheart. The Wild King. They would have crowned him with savagery and robed him with hunger. He refused. He was not like them. Not yet.

That truth pained him, he could not deny it. There was something inside, something in all of them, that refused to ever be tamed. While the hearth-fires burned low it would rather be hunting in the snow, while weapons lay at rest it would rather sink fang and claw deep into preyflesh. Even some of those he had known the longest had succumbed to it. Scarpelt and Harok, Haghmund and Olfar. Long-fangs and grey-pelts all, given over to the Beast Within. They said the same thing, each one of them. The Wolftime was coming. Leadership was needed. Would he join them?

That was not his way, he reminded himself over and over. There was savagery, yes, but it was cold, calculated, unleashed only when the moment was right. The savagery the others now possessed burned bright, was blind to reason. It was the hungry rage that flung the wolf into the huntsman’s trap.

They were late. The warp was playing its usual tricks, seeking to confound and infuriate them. Fury made the Beast stronger. It made more of his warriors turn. They had been bound for the Fenris System for what felt like a lifetime. The other Great Companies were already there, already fighting, already dying, already writing their sagas on Midgardia, Svellgard and Frostheim. The thought pushed him even closer to the edge. He took a long, shuddering breath, trying to clear his head.

Soon they would be home. Whether it would be as beasts or as men, he did not know. There was only one certainty. He would make all those who defiled Fenris pay."

the way it's worded. I don't think this is Bran, ragnar or any other wolf lord.

Am I naive to believe this to be a Wulfen lord?

----------------------------------------------------------------

It's Bran Redmaw.

Did some cross referencing:
Scarpelt: "Frostclaws" Brothe Scarpelt, 9th Pack, Pack "Frostclaw"
Harok: Wolf Guard Harok, Honoured 3rd Pack
Haghmund: Wolf Guard Haghmund, Honoured 3rd Pack
Olfar: Wolf Guard Olfar, Honoured 3rd Pack

THese are all named members of Bran Redmaws chapter.

SO I'm guessing this "might" lead into a forgeworld release of Bran Redmaw in conjuction with the spacewolf upgrade kits releasing from forgeworld?

I'm not sure he's correct about FW releasing a model for the person he names, but seeing as we do know that HH SW stuff is coming wouldn't perhaps be too surprising if there was some "compatibility" between whats released.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I would love for the Redmaw to be released, even though I already made both versions...

I am hoping he has wulfen in the core formation. I only really want one pack to be totally honest. I have enough for the murderpack, but had to drop a bunch of bloodclaws, a wolf priest terminator, and a bastion to fit them into my 2000 point list...
