Nice start on the Outriders. How easy is it to reach everything for painting? I still have them on sprue and am not sure if subassemblies are needed.

Thanks Graven.

gobert wrote:Ooh, nice! Those outriders are cool minis, and they look good in your ultramarine blue. Does the Sgt have a helmeted option?
I agree the outriders are a cool model and thanks for compliment on the blue. As for the Sarge see Nevs response, I actually started to put him together with the thought of changing out the head to helm but I am not that good of a modeler to remove the belt and sculpt.

He has his helmet sculpted hanging off his belt. You could carve it off, but it might take some sculpting to rebuild. Or a pouch and some purity seals.

Outriders are looking very nice. I’ve been enjoying the contrast paints for skin. Huge time saver for pretty decent results.
Totally agree on the contrast paints for faces, a plus is that if you make a mistake just paint white over it and use the contrast again.

Thanks Viterbi, yes some of the parts are hard to reach, the lights in the cowling and around the wheels could be an issue too. Looking forward to seeing how yours turn out.

Great expression on the Sgt. Going to be a good looking unit.

After seeing Gravens offspring painting and modeling I thought I would share a pic of the youngest member of the Yorkright households first painted Space Marine. At 5 I think he has promise.

Nice start into the hobby for the little Yorkright!
I tried drybrushing terrain with my oldest (also 5), but he is not that keen on painting or drawing in general, so he wasn't thrilled

Hey thanks all for the kind words, he definitely likes GWs minis and getting to paint with me is a treat for us both. There is a pretty good supply of marines I should put together a few more and let him go town.
Decided to paint up the Skorpeth Destroyer Lord and enter him in the dakka challenge. Here is a few early WIP pics.

Your lad has done a good job! Marine looks like he’d fit right in with some of Papas finest.

Good start on the Lord, he’s a big ol’ boy

Lord's gonna turn some heads with those green blades. Will the claws get the same treatment?

Turn heads? His plan is decapatation , as for his claws I am not sure yet. So far just dry brushing them with metallics.

Gitsplitta wrote:Great start Yorkright. Wow, that's a pretty awesome model.

Thanks Gitz, he is an impressive model.

Here is a couple of pics with some more paint slathered on.

Destroyer lord is looking great so far. I'd leave the claws metal, but then I plaster every melee weapon I paint with Blood for the Blood God, so I might be partial to a metal base

One green one metal, I won’t be working on it till later today so go ahead and chime in.

The blade is off to a great start. For the claws, maybe a little of both? Metallic with green coming in at the tips?

Thanks for the input guys, after mulling it over I am not going to go with the green. Instead going to add a few washes of purple and blue to the claws. Not sure how it shows up in the pictures but here is a few.

Claw looks great with the washes, fitting choice. By the look of them he probably only has to cut you a bit and you will die of the resulting infection

Thanks Viterbi, maybe I can ally him up with my Death Guard.

Calling him finished, tried a few different things but needed to match up with the rest of the army. Only have ten more Warriors to go from Indomitus. Back to the Outriders next.

Looks good! I like the tonal range on the blade. Could just be my phone, but I would advise people to click and see the pics at high resolution. Lots of cool detail, especially the face.
