Sorry, not too familiar with the SM rules. Still, if 5 hit and 2 penetrate, that's not a fantastic chance, especially if the Serpent has Stones. See where I'm coming from?

An aforementioned speeder squadron would be 3x AV 10 10 10 fast skimmers each having a heavy bolter and a typhoon missile launcher (heavy 2 str 8 or can fire frags, with a range of 48").

It doesn't have to wreck it to hurt it. Even a 1 on the damage table will still stop it from firing BL. And it can easily keep it at 48" where the fire dragon's can't hurt them. All they would have to do is keep plinking it with missiles until its gone, and the fire dragons are a non-issue. Even if the wave serpent gets a lucky shot and takes one out, there is still 2 more left.

Ya know, I honestly doubt the monolith would win.

Not 100%, the monolith was reflex, I'm not all that familiar with the Eldar Dex (don't have it on hand secondly)

I'll stick with the monolith......or faced wtih option 2, i'll opt for three hydra flak tanks at 225 points

0.664 Penetrating hits on the Monolith if it moved (so you're hiting on 4s). If it didn't move, it's still only 1.328 penetrating hits before you get whacked by a flux arc or particle whip...

1.328 penetrating hits... then they assault. 2 attacks per Seer, that's 8 attacks that all hit if the Monolith hasn't moved.

My calculations were based on combat. You get 1.328 penetrating hits in combat if the Lith hasn't moved.

Thrown, they'll score 0.332 Penetrating hits if they're still S9

So that rounds to 2 penetrating hits. Sort of. That makes a WD or destroyed result quite likely. Agreed?

Adding throwing and charging a non-moving Monolith nets you 1.66 penetrating hits, and comes up with a 0.55278 chance of scoring a Wrecked result or better. Rounding to 2, we get 0.666 chance of getting wrecked or better. Obviously, they both round up to 1, but it's a pretty big round that's needed.
