And I'm not sure where to ask, but will RRG have Lupa for sale at Gencon?
At Adepticon, they mentioned planning on having her available at cons and special events, but I know Gencon was a little unexpected for them so I don't know if you can rely on that info.

That looks really great, but I couldn't find any dimensions listed on their website. Their other mats about the same price point are 36x36, but it would be nice to know...
Also, am I right in inferring that it's made from the same material as those vinyl banners? If so, I haven't seen anything like this application of it before.

Valen, previously revealed at Adepticon, will be available as a pre-release at GenCon. We'll make sure we have some every day. As a teaser, here is his game card smile emoticon
And now, the spectacular Valen mini sculpted by Benoit Caucies and painted by Benjamin Williams. I hope we brought enough.

Solid model, if unspectacular - though the alt head is a nice touch. I think his vitality bar is the shortest I've seen, which is probably due to his two skills being so powerful. With the coordinated nature of Legio XIII, Fade is especially strong - makes him almost untouchable if you support him right.
Rumor is that there's also a mounted Legio model to be unveiled at Gen Con - the RRG guys mentioned a knight/warhorse combo a while ago, which makes sense with their theme. Interested to see how it turns out...
There's also this for anyone who will actually be there...
Also, Hroka and Hroka + Caho-Ta officially go on sale August 15 (finally). Here's the 360 vid RRG posted for them...

Should've posted this earlier, but if it's like their Adepticon sale it'll be extended through the rest of this week...
New Legio XIII gladiator: Valen.
Looks like a fantastic set of skills. Fade in particular looks like it could be a gigantic pain in the ass since Legio is all about assisting and supporting each other.
Another new Legio XIII gladiator: Ywain.
And another amazing skill set. Rebuff will make you think twice about attacking him without adding Favor dice to the mix, and then Redoubt makes him nigh invincible for a turn. Also, word on the street is that as a "proto-knight" he will get a mounted version later on (the rumored Legio warhorse?).
BoW interview with Walker from RRG. Mentions next Ludus will be Greek themed - but is still approximately two years out (so be patient).

So while this miniature line definitely could be called boutique, that comes with a downside. For miniatures meant for a game, they make way too many parts far too flimsy for actual gameplay by even the most careful of players.
From the perpetually bending of Iason's soft resin 1mm thick spear, to the single skinny ankles that most female models are posed on, to Hermes' pointlessly thin helmet feathers.
I noticed they at least switched to metal for spears and such in later models.
These miniatures are beautiful, but these overly thin parts are not something that helps. Instead, it just serves to highlight the impracticality of the sculpts for gaming, and how ugly they get when after 1-2 game sessions things start breaking and bending uncontrollably.
The game is good though, fast and fun.
It does need some better objectives though. Perhaps a set of objective cards that give favor if they're completed. I'm thinking a Golden Fleece objective on the field that if grabbed, grants extra favor every clear turn while it's possessed. But, also put dueling circles or a restorative fountain on the other side of the arena. This gives a reason for players to split up, otherwise everything becomes a scrum in the center.
You'll definitely want some kind of beast to use as a living hazard since it's a big part of the rules to have them, otherwise you'll be missing out on 1/3 of the rules of clear turns. A plus side is that most beasts are a mount for one character or another, or can be used in the beast ludus.

I haven't had the same issue. I needed to do a lot of straightening of resin parts when I built the models, and there were a few poses that need to either be pinned to the base or needed some green stuff to be secure, but once it was built my minis have been fine. I did wreck Hermes' feathers during a game, but that was the result of fat fingers after several beers. Are you familiar with resetting resin? After you get those spears and things properly straightened, they should start bending again unless they are getting hot, like being left in a car or something.

Those sound like fun ideas! Definitely implement them in your games, and let us know how it goes if you do! The rule set is loose enough that you can fit stuff like this in without disrupting the balance of the game.

You can play satisfying games without living hazards, but I agree that it is more fun with them included. You can also use a beast in your squad without Anum.
Glad you found the game, and glad you're having fun!

I had hoped for a Greek Ludi in a post on AR's subreddit, so I'm super-excited to see them confirmed as an upcoming faction.
Added: Also, cards for Hroka and Caho-Ta (not sure if they've been shown already):
It's nice to see the game getting more fleshed out. The list building mechanics allow for a lot of factional cross play, but it's been a little Ludus Magnus heavy until now. With the Gen-Con pre-releases included, the factions now stand at:
Ludus Magnus: 9 gladiators, 1 mount (10 gladiators if you include Lupa)
Legio XIII: 8 gladiators
Morituri: 7 gladiators, 1 mount
Zephyri: 6 gladiators, 1 mount
Of course, that's not including Noxius, the 3 Gorgons, and the 4 unaligned beasts/titans.
It'd be good to see the other factions catch up to Ludus Magnus' numbers by the time the Greeks come out.

A prize-winning draft and show animal, Dextarius was a gift to Ywain; a luxe reminder that the man himself was at best a display piece or burden in Imperial politics. While the massive creature lacks the agile hooves and speed preferred by legionary riders, his agile mind and sheer brawn make him a terror in the arena. With a great weight of armor added to so much horse, any charge is certain to be decisive.

Secondly, I really do not like the off the shoulder breast plate. Regardless of how much sense it makes as armor (super uncomfortable), on the model it really just looks like the painter screwed up, and painted one side of the body in armor, and forgot that the body on the other side of the sash was supposed to be armor too. Or vice versa. It just makes no sense that the line of the armor would follow the sash perfectly (unless it is attached to the armor), and that is exacerbated by the lorica musculata being so close to what you expect his body to look like. My brain keeps telling me that the painter made a mistake, and he should be topless.
It seems like a minor thing, but it really bugs me. A bad concept flawlessly executed. :(
It's upon us again, the Ides of March. This is the day Arena Rex was launched in 2013; we couldn't be happier about how much the game and its following has grown.
We'd like to tease the next gladiator to be released, Leika. Coming to Adepticon? You may have a chance to check her out.
Tonight we'll be posting our first FAQ and Errata doc, keep an eye out.
Beware the Ides.

The Ides is upon us! Arena Rex is 4 years old today -- and boy has each of those years had a different flavor. In addition to this morning’s preview of Leika, we have a latest revision of our rulebook to share. A couple of small, but impactful changes have lead us to version this 1.10. We have also collected an Official FAQ with the changelog for those who want to skip straight to what’s new.
Great thanks to the fans of the game who collected the unofficial FAQ on the wiki – many of the responses are lifted wholesale or lightly modified from that document, and are now official. Further thanks to our forum and subreddit communities (some of whom overlap with the above) for some great discussion around the finer points of the rules interactions and also for the translations that we have available.
Mostly, thanks to everyone for making this such a rewarding project, whether it’s through discussion, showing off your modeling and painting, playing the game out and about or in your own home with the shades drawn, or even just visiting the website or picking up the odd model or handful of dice. We continue looking forward to the growth of Red Republic Games, and Arena Rex in particular, with shining eyes thanks to you all.

Yes to both, I believe - definitely Zephyri (posted on /r/ArenaRex/), almost certainly retiarius, what with the trident and net. Really intrigued by the art - here's hoping it's another cracker of a sculpt!

Any UK based players got an online retailer they know is carrying this? Or are y'all just sucking up the postage charges and import fees?

Yeah, I found Common Ground, and there were relatively recent comments on the FB page suggesting they're working towards an online store.
It seems reallly odd that a game with such great minis and an interesting rule set hasn't been picked up in the U.K. by one of the bigger retailers, but I've got plenty going on for the time being, if I wait for CG or someone's else to get their online act together that might mean I can actually buy some stuff and paint it rather than toss it on the pile of shame!

Man, if they managed plastic boxes around the price of Malifaux's stuff, I'd be all over their line. Their minis are gorgeous, but pricey enough that I really think about it before buying anything...
