Maybe some toothpicks used as spikes, or little boxes to look like claymore. Or the smoke launchers from marine vehicles to use as defensive grenade launchers. Nothing says keep back lick grenades.

why on earth did you learn german again? there are times when i wish i wouldn´t have had to learn german.... it is a harsh and rather offensive sounding langauge... and i fully justified say this as a german... about those defensive measures....hmmm.... i need to flex some brain cells in that direction it seems^^

had to look up fixtures... but yeah... some more detailing is soon to happen... it needs to have a certain lived in feeling... some amo crates? oilbarrels? and some fixed to the walls shelves full of guns... *check*


well mates.... i have been away some time due to my PC that didn´t want to talk to me anymore ... fixed that...!

and meanwhile... i made the floor and the walkways....see for yourself...
also... do you think the walls should be made looking like concrete or look like steel plated walls? with rivets... as if i didn´t knew the answer to that one

Very riveting walkways now look ace. Scattered crates, boxes and other general furniture (fire extinguishers, jerry cans, maybe a vending machine?) would be neat.

What did you make the floor plates out of? Card I guess.

Going back to the gun emplacements, I think they looked best on the top of the buttresses, from the options available.

Although If you wanted a tower you could build it over the corner either with just beams etc... (potential for many rivets ) or with solid outer walls and archways over the inner sides (or doors to be easier) and don't forget a ladder up to the top.

Or just build a separate watchtower or two...

as for the tower issue.... i think i have to make a mockup of one tomwer, eh?... to see if this is doable and still playable...(if then it looks good, it needs to be four then...)

Black Cat Bases (http://blackcatbases.com/) make excellent fire extinguishers, amongst other accessories.
For example:

I have some of their suitcases, cowboy hats, assorted animals, cans...

Stairway is great, but I meant a ladder for the tower as a stairway for that would block access from one direction.

Wire ladders would be interesting.
Sprue is also useful for ladders in some cases.

i wanted to try that recessed look... you think i should glue smaller rivets inside these holes then or leave it as is?...

If you do a rivet within a recessed rivet hole, anything less than dead center every time will be noticeable methinks.

good point...and lets face it... on that scale you have to be an member of the bomb squad to be that precise...

well you do know the article why stromtroopers don´t hit that often rebels? but rebels seem to not miss? because the stromtroopers are masked and look nonhuman... it is easier to hit them than a human looking target...

but after you saw han shoot with his lazy hand and kill each time... a comment from obi wan about the precisness of shooting abilities of stormtooper is ridicilous

Floors look excellent Vik. I like the recessed rivet look, will definitely pop (pun intended) when painted. I'd go for the concrete walls to offset all the metals.

Oh and I learned German in middle school and high school. Five years all together, two years of French too. I was supposed to go for the summer to Germany and stay with a host family in Bonn, but the first gulf war happened and our school backed out of the trade.

My wife has travelled all over Europe, and we want to do a anniversary trip some year.

I'm German, Irish and French by genetics, but all German by heart. No-nazi here, just proud of an ancestry that goes back a few hundred years. Great inventors and by your blog, great craftsmen.

The Walls on the outside should be as planned concrete, but maybe some metal plating for th inside? Plus some panles for banners and slogans - you know we Imperials can't do without our daily dose of Propaganda to keep our spitits up.
This combined with crates, fire extingushers, fuel cans and all that stuff....oh, so many option, so little room - you need to add a basement me thinks *lol*
And yes, a mockup for the tower seems to be in order

whoa... that is quite some interest for languages you have there... i´ve learned french in school back then too... tho i can hardly swaer in that tongue...(for me swearing in any language is the proof to be able to speak the language and not be in need for pitty by the natives)...
funny thing is dave here is related in way back times to germany too... the states it seems have assimilated lots of germans through the ages...
oh and one onther thing... which is kinda sad/funny mix ... my true english skills developed during the first war in the gulf... watched cnn all the time back then... and read marvel comics too ... and MTV ray cokes most wanted... all that built the foundation of what you all are now able to enjoy... me writen english skille^^

well actually i am as far away from being a craftsman as you can be... never had any teaching (nop...not fishing for compliments here) but i learned more business and other writing related skills...which makes me sad... as my sister by the way had quite good skills learned in her school with bandsaw and suchlike... but...i am still able to learn a trick or two^^

and thanks for the answer to the walls design... i think i will do them in concrete... if klaus too says it... we are heading for win here^^

i will start to make concrete actions (sorry for that lame pun ) on the walls... a sand PVA mix? i think this will lead to the most sturdy results, don´t you think?
banners...flags... oh... i haven´t even thought about that! that needs to be fixed... i think i need to see how you do all these banners... they always looks so perfect...
maybe you could point me to a how to of your own work there?
the best part for making the sunken rivets look is... you get extra rivtes for cheap^^... tow for the price of one... but i tell you... after i did all there in one day... my arm was quite sore from all that wholepunching
a basement...nawww..... not this time... but my sons already demanded that my next project into terrain will have to be multistorey...

Yes, I love languages. Even tried to teach myself Russian in high school, didn't do to good. Funny you should mention swear words, I can tell people to in eleven languages. It was a hobby of mine back in my rebellious teens. now it just helps when I drop something heavy on my foot and my kids are around. I just have to change it up so they don't learn any of it and say it at the wrong time.

ach... they will learn everything eventually... so no point in pampering them^^...

i tried to teach me greek... didn´t work out too well too

update time later on... some good looking concrete maybe?...
