Personally, I'd give your officers a 2handed weapon like a bolter rather than the CCW/LP combo. I'm also not nuts about your vet squads. My IG vets are almost exclusively shooty and do rather well with BS4.

With the DH allies, I'd make them more assault-oriented. Your army is extremely lacking in assault capability. As such, take out the Vindicare as someone mentioned on the other list and exchange with Eversor or Callidus.

I wouldn't mind adding more vets to the unit. Right now though, they're suicide drop troops.. they drop in, blow up a tank, then die. But they almost always earn back twice the points I spent on em. If I had the points to spare, I'd give em extra guns and try and have em infiltrated in some cover though.

I wanted to keep the platoons as cheap as possible becuase I wanted more tanks. It's like an armored company with some troops backing em up And, tanks are just more fun to build and paint and I didn't want to have to paint up 500 guys.

As far as close combat defense goes, the best defense is a good round of templates hitting everything Really though, I fealt that 1 unit, even the Inquisitors unit would just be too easy to avoid and the other guy will send his CC stuff to hit my troops where my CC defense can't get there in time to help. One thing I learned with 'nids playing big slow bugs, if you can only move 6", no one will go near you. The rhino may help, but really I thought it would be best to just keep them shooty like the rest. I have an eversor model but like I said, I think it might be too easy to keep away from him most of the time.. I don't like having just 1 close combat unit, I'd rather take 2-3 and in a guard army there just isn't a lot of close combat options. I was going to include rough riders instead of that Chimera, but as far as looks go, I don't think horses fit. I had a good idea to convert them using marine scout bikes, but I don't want to spend $90-$100 for just 6 of em...

I could retool the Inquistor unit and add an eversor and have 2 CC options, but I think I wanna try a more shooty army instead.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

The Vindicare is junk. Possibly the worst Assassin in the Codex. Find 10 points and take a Calludis instead. I'll look at the rest of the list when I'm at work.

I could find the pts for a Calludis if I need to.. I have been thinking more and maybe I could do the Inquisitor's unit as more CC oriented, but I just kinda feel like most other enemy CC units will probably be better at it than me in most cases, just seems they'd be better off shooting...

Keep in mind, since =I= are independent characters ONLY when their retinue isn't around, you can afford to give yours a powerfist and bolt pistol if you like, though were you to do that I'd have to suggest making the retinue as large as possible. An alternative arrangement for the =I= - at a net +32 points - could be to give him three Mystics and a Land Raider. This'd give you a fourth heavy tank, albeit one more specialized in terms of its firepower than the ever-trusty Russ battle cannon.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Well I did have the unit bigger with acolytes and mystics but I shaved it down to save some points. I didn't want it to be so expensive that the other guy goes right for it for lots of extra points. It's even too many now as it is.

I was thinking about a land raider too, that'd be a nice addition to the army with all the other tanks.. and of course I'd have to invest in FW bitz to make it cooler.. might be an option for when I go above 2000 pts. I like playing in the 3000 pt range most of all, even if it takes a whole day. For now though, i'm gonna stick with the rhino. It's a tricked-out FW bitz razorback I had for my marine command squad, which is why it's got the dozer blade and all that other stuff.. it's WYSIWYG I made the razorback cannon removable so I could just stick a rhino top door on there just in case, glad I finally get to use it since I haven't played my marines in like 2-3 years Just didn't feel like updating the army to the new rules when I had so many other projects in mind...

for 3K games I'd probably fill up the retinue, add 1 more platoon, another chimera or 2, and possibly add some grey knights that I got and never got to ever use.. same color scheme too

But I'm gonna play a few games with this list and see how I like it. I'm already thinking I might want to ditch the assassin and save him for 3K also, and in his place try and fill up my vet squads. For drop troops I wanna keep them cheap but if I can infiltrate into cover they'd prolly do good with regular shooting...
