I remember giving you a reason to be able to, should you want to, but you didn't post anything, and I think everyone assumed he had. But I still think it's up to you really..

Ah ok, thank you kindly sir, I shall get more involved right away, as said previously, if Bonzo survives he'll be getting a morning call with a shock baton. ^^

I'm basically going to re ignite the character as I get more involved in the RP, I also can only apologize for my absence and lack of involvement in the RP, and hope to remedy this in days and weeks to come!

Was JK.

Also, there are quite a few other people on Dakka with these kind of avatars./Faunt and others (Luna, naturally for one)

I've already forgotten what your last avatar looked like . Not sure how an avatar can be "unflattering" but oh well. You sure he didn't say "your picture is rather uninteresting?" cause that'd probably have made more sense. If that was the case, then yes, you definitely fixed it, d'int you?

I'm guessing Silver's working right now, so depending on how his wife's feeling today, we could be getting our event tonight or tomorrow, which works out perfectly for me as I'll be home after the crappest holiday I've ever had (probably anyway..) in an hour (or hopefully less!).
*looks up from laptop*
Oh crap the traffic's just got bad.

I'm currently at work. My wife has gone to stay with her parents so I will try and get it written when I get home.

Think I will have to just force myself to write for a couple of hours and get it done

Hooray for event! Oh-no for Shadow!

I speak for everyone when I say I look forward to it! And if you do spend a few hours on it, then it should turn out really well written - and judging from the two fictional shorts you wrote and posted on Dakka (albeit awhile ago), it should be a great read!

About 1/3 to half way though the event and it has taken about an hour so far (have about 2 pages ~1,000 words if you are interested)

Although now the poo is really about to hit the high speed rotating blades, so this next bit should be exciting to write

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

EVENT CONCLUSION PART 1

The rockets roared towards the horde of staggering corpses that seemed to fill the whole Earth. The first, Tombstone’s, impacted on the first rank of fell creatures, blasting a swathe through them and knocking the densely packed zombies into one another like so many rotting pinballs. The other rockets flew through the rain of limbs, blood and gore. A second rocket clipped a zombie as it reared up, blasting its head to nothing and creating another gore soaked mass of limbs which was quickly filled with more writhing zombies as their numbers pressed in from all sides.

The one remaining rocket sped over the mass of closely packed zombies straight towards the hulking form of the mega-zombie. Somehow seeing the threat with its pus filled eyes it grabbed the zombies milling in front of it and threw them into the air, bare moments before the rocket reached it. The rocket detonated scant yards from the beast, showering it in the remains of the mindless creatures it had used to defend itself with, but also with several red hot shards of shrapnel which cut deep into its flesh. Enraged, it bellowed and charged through the ranks of the lesser undead, directly towards the convoy of survivors, and the stream of bullets now being fired by Halon and Bonzo as they opened up with the machine guns mounted on the vehicles, attempting to thin out the press of zombies which was now threatening to overwhelm their position. As it advanced, it crushed anything that got in its way, seeming not to notice anything in its desire to kill that which had hurt it.

Jennifer gently squeezed the trigger on the grenade launcher, a loud “pop” announcing a new addition to the fight as the grenade arced gracefully into the throng, impacting just behind the mega-zombie as it ran forwards, blasting several zombies to oblivion, and causing the great beast to stagger forwards before resuming its charge.

Tombstone, Daisy and Saunders all reloaded their rocket launchers and fired again. As before, their nerves, illness and lack of training made Tombstone’s rocket impact into the heaving crowd, while Daisy’s rocket sailed off, impacting into a nearby building. Saunders took careful aim and fired, the heavily padded stock slamming into his shoulder as a dark stream of smoke erupted from the rear of the rocket, tracking its progress as it raced over the zombies, closing with every moment on the behemoth charging towards them.

The rocket exploded in a brilliant flash and with a noise like thunder and smoke obscured the target. After a few seconds the wind had cleared the smoke enough to show that the mega-zombie had disappeared, apparently felled by a direct hit from Saunders’ rocket.

The group cheered as the dark form failed to materialise, and continued to pour fire into the ever closing horde. Tombstone glanced at the vehicles, realising the time was close where they would have to get the frack out of there or risk being seriously eaten.

He was just about to call out to everyone to jump aboard and invite the Big Man to join them or go the hell away when the sound of gunfire behind them caused them to turn. Shadow was running crouched, occasionally stopping to open fire on the convoy above and behind them. When he got closer it could be heard that he was yelling for Halon to give him some covering fire.

“Feth” muttered Tombstone. He turned back to face the zombies – mixed in with the normal zombies he could see the disfigured forms of several of the mutated strains. Time to go. “Everyone, get in the trucks, time to get this freak show outa here!” he shouted over the gunfire, explosions, and bowel loosening moans and calls of the zombie horde.

Bonzo glanced down through the hatch he was shooting the machine gun out of at the sprawled forms of K and Vicky and then at the kneeling form of Kiera, still slumped motionless just outside of the truck. He quickly pulled the mounting pin out of the machine gun and pulled himself up through the hatch. Laughing manically and perhaps screaming in equal measure he clambered up through the hatch, spraying bullets at the wall of zombies as he shot from the hip. He jumped down besides Kiera and hauled her into the open cab of the truck by the collar of her shirt, firing the machine gun single-handedly at almost point blank range now.

Halon had swivelled his mini-gun to target the convoy behind them and was raking the line of vehicles with fire as he swept it back and forth.

Tombstone, Daisy and Jennifer quickly jumped aboard, with Jennifer sliding into the drivers seat. Almost simultaneously Daisy and Jennifer shouted for Shadow to run to the other truck where Bonzo was furiously trying to fight off the clutching hands of dozens of zombies, punching, kicking, shooting and barely evading the teeth and grasping fingers as he desperately tried to defend the helpless forms inside the truck.

Daisy grabbed Jennifer’s rifle and began to fire out of the window, trying to help Bonzo in his desperate fight. Tombstone too grabbed a rifle from where it lay in the truck and opened fire, trying to give the clown room to get away.

Shadow heard the cries from the truck and sprinted towards the lead truck. From where he was he couldn’t see Bonzo desperately fighting off the horde, nor the bulky form of several heavily muscled zombies as they pushed through the crowd surrounding him. Rounding the side of the truck he almost ran head first into the zombies and quickly raised his rifle, firing on full automatic, cutting the first zombie almost in half, and swearing profusely.

The immediate threat dealt with, he quickly assessed the situation: “Bonzo! Get in the truck, time to get the feth out of here! I’ll cover you!” He snapped of shots at the heads and grabbing limbs of the zombies closest to Bonzo before turning his attention to the roid-zombies tearing a path towards him. He stepped back, onto the tailgate of the truck and swung himself onto the roof, reaching a hand down to Bonzo and helping him aboard. “ZomBies WaNNA plaY!” he said as he clambered back into the firing hatch, his recent sanity appearing to slip again under pressure.

“Yeah” Shadow muttered as he jumped down on the drivers side of the cab and climbed in, slamming the door on the fingers of an unlucky zombie. He shot it in the face through the open window and started the truck.

Seeing the lead truck fire up its engine, Jennifer gunned the rear truck, ploughing down several zombies who had tried to surround them, the truck lurching as they were crushed under the heavy duty wheels. They watched as Bonzo once again began firing haphazardly from the top hatch, blasting ragged holes in anything which crossed the path of his bullets and watched when Shadow pulled off the road and gunned straight for the convoy of the Big Man. So unexpected was this action that Jennifer failed to follow the other truck and carried on through the crowded mass of undead, crushing a number of them before Halon turned the mini-gun on them, clearing a path through the shuffling horde intent on reaching them.

In the other truck Bonzo laughed as the uneven ground caused him to almost loose his hold on the machine gun and watched as his shots stitched a line of holes across some parked cars outside a diner before tracing a line across the façade. Shadow was counting on the fact that there would be few survivors of the Big Man’s convoy left to stop them as he raced away from the zombies. Unfortunately, as punishing as Halon’s fire had been, several still remained. As the truck drew near, they opened fire, splintering the windshield and popping one of the tyres. A grenade exploded to one side, rocking the truck and causing it to tip. Slowly the truck began to roll.

“OH FE…” Shadow shouted as he slid from his seat to hit the roof of the cab.

“WEEEEEEE!” laughed Bonzo as he jumped back down inside the truck, pulling the machine gun after him.

Watching from the other truck, Tombstone shouted to Jennifer “Quick! We need to circle round and pick them up!”

Jennifer glanced in the cracked and dirty mirrors and saw the truck rolling as it slid through the line of humvees. She picked the next junction and slid round in a tight arc, attempting to drive around behind the Big Man’s convoy.

The waves of zombies continued to advance towards the now stationary truck, and the Big Man’s men opened fire on them. It was a loosing battle, for every zombie they killed; another 3 took its place. Slowly they washed over the line of humvees and devoured the men still hiding there. Others, less brave perhaps but certainly more sensible, had already started running away, attempting to put as much distance between the horde and themselves as possible.

From amid the mass of zombies, a deep and powerful moan erupted; the mega-zombie staggered to its feet. A huge gash marred its putrid torso and most of its left arm was missing, along with half of what was left of its face. Brains and gore dripped down its oddly bulging and twisted muscles and bones. If it could be said to feel anything, it was rage. A rage so powerful that it could blot out the sun and crack the Earth open to the core. Screaming a dreadful scream, it charged towards the crashed truck, and the handful of survivors it contained…

… Out of sight of the horde, the other survivors heard the scream even over the sounds of the labouring engine and looked at one another in horror. Jennifer tried to put her foot down on the accelerator, but her boot was already on the floor…

Part 2 coming soon!

Um.. that was slightly confusing as you kept on referring to two trucks.

There's one pickup and the "battle bus" which is a heavily armored police riot vehicle.. and the battle bus was closer to the Mercenaries, and Shadow was going for the battle bus. But you said he got in the truck that had Bonzo in it, which is the pickup that is closer to the zombies (or was). So who's in what truck and which one just died? The one with the bullet-proof windscreen or the other truck that Shadow's supposedly in?

Hmm.. sorry if I sound like I'm complaining a lot, but these are things that could make quite a big difference.. and also for details sake. I can understand that all the different PMs you've been reading and whatnot, that you'd miss some things - don't get me wrong, you've done a great job, and I can't wait for the next part - I'm just pointing these things out as I think they're important and can make a big difference to what happens (now I'm repeating myself!).

@ Ninja - Whoops!

Fixed

@ Darkvoid - when I have finished the second part I will go back and edit the first to make it a bit clearer what I am talking about.

Either way, I know what I am talking about, so that is all that matters

I also had to try and fit what everyone wanted me to do together with what I broadly wanted to happen, which means that I either had to ignore some of what people wanted their characters to do, or liberally interpret it. If you feel I have done something that you really disagree with, please let me know and I will see if I can change it (though please be aware that I've almost (hopefully) finished part 2, so I can't change too much).

Also remember that I randomly determine what happens, so even if you wanted to do something, there is a chance your character would not be able to do it, or it would all go horribly wrong

Silver, I understand what being a GM is about (I am one, after all - and I must say, most of what I do is based off, or is, what you do) and I too randomly (sort of) determine things with dice, although I fudge it sometimes in the players' favor, as ya do.

I just think that as it is the nearest vehicle, Tombstone and all the others fighting the zombies would've gone for the truck, with Shadow jumping in the closer vehicle to him - the battle bus - with Halon in it.

Of course you have to ignore contradictions and decide on things based on what you want to happen as well, I'm just saying that if Shadow and Tombstone (and co) were in the opposite vehicles than I would've thought they'd get in, it wouldn't make much sense. Otherwise they're going further to get in vehicles (and essentially Tombstone and co would've been abandoning the pickup, bonzo and all the supplies).

I will wait until you are finished before you edit, as you said, but I just think that depending on the vehicle everyone's in, it could seriously change what happens (well, not really, you're God and what you want to happen happens/ even the random stuff is what you want, because you want it to be randomly determined!).

Re-reading the end-half of the first part of the event, I've got a better understanding (I didn't read it correctly, it seems ) - and I can see what happened with the Battle bus (as I believe it should be) as possible (except the screen breaking.. but oh well). It depends whether you decide to change it so that Shadow's in the ex-police riot vehicle (with Halon in the turret) or not. If you don't, I'll be a bit miffed as it'd mean our characters would have little common sense.

I may have mixed up the vehicles initially, which is my mistake. Halon is in the pick up truck with Tomb, Jennifer, Saunders and Daisy.

Shadow is in the armoured car with Bonzo, Kiera, K and Vicky.

The second part is almost finished, so I will post it and then go and try and correct things where they need changing.

Ah but dark, he saw Bonzo's plight (of which i loved by the by) And raced over tor escue. At this point, he would surely have been closer to that vehicle as opposed to your battle bus.

Loved it so far.

Ah.. but that'd mean Bonzo and Halon magically switched places . Halon was always in the battle bus, and Bonzo in the pickup .

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

EVENT CONCLUSION PART 2

In the crashed armoured car, Shadow heard the scream even through the intense pain he felt in his head where it had struck the roof. Blood streamed down his face and his fingers felt a sharp and jagged crack through his split scalp where his skull had been fractured. He tried to move but could only throw up, unfortunately this was all over himself and Kiera, who was laying half on top of him and gently crying to herself. In the back of the truck things were hardly better. Luckily K and Vicky had been strapped in, so although they now hung from the ceiling, they were relatively unharmed. Bonzo however cradled his shin, which had already swollen and turned a deep purple as the blood pooled around what was probably a serious break. He laughed to himself through clenched teeth as he pulled himself upright and tied a couple of arm rests around the break with a seatbelt.

Outside the truck, the zombies had finished with the humvees and began to turn their attention to the fleeing members of the convoy and the crashed truck, shuffling towards the dented metal box, before being thrown aside by the hulking, raging form of the mega-zombie, which sprinted straight for the truck, slamming into the rear doors, buckling them severely and attempting to rip them from their brackets with its one remaining arm – razor sharp talons gashing the thick metal as it tore at the doors. Inside Bonzo stood ready to protect K and Vicky. Leaning on the wall to steady himself, he fed a new belt into the machine gun and waited for the door to be opened.

In the cab Kiera seemed more agitated, her cries and moans almost cut through the blinding pain that was incapacitating Shadow. He slowly inched his hand along his leg to an equipment pouch and managed to find a morphine serrette and stabbed it into his leg. The pain eased but not enough. He fumbled another out and stabbed that through the thick material of his trousers. The black throbbing abated, giving way to the lighter euphoria of the morphine. A slam from the rear of the truck jolted him and for a moment the pain threatened to come back, but was kept in check by the powerful pain killers now coursing through his veins. He levered himself up as a crashing and groaning of metal began to come from the back of the truck. Bracing himself against the buckled door frame he pushed…

The machine gun bucked in Bonzo’s hands as he held the trigger down as soon as the monster came into view through the rent it had made in the doors. He screamed incoherently as the gunfire echoed in the enclosed space, deafening him even to his own shouting. With a final heave, the doors were ripped free and the hulking form of the mega-zombie blocked the ragged hole. The machine gun clattered as the last of the bullets fed through the mechanism, the firing pin hitting nothing but air. Bonzo still screamed defiantly, determined to protect the unconscious children. Besides him the side door was pulled open and Shadow grabbed the back of his shirt and yanked him outside. Bonzo stumbled and flailed as Shadow pointed to Kiera, urging Bonzo to help her out of the cab before stepping into the cramped interior once more.

He opened fire on the creature blindly, watching as his bullets did little to add to the carnage of Bonzo’s machine gun fire and Saunders’ rocket. Cursing, he reached for a grenade but just as he was pulling it from his belt the monster smashed into him, throwing him from the open side door to the ground. He passed out as his head hit the ground, broken plates sliding over one another. The last thing he saw before the blackness claimed him was what looked like a big fat man hooker dressed in a thong and nipple tassels staggering towards him…

Inside the rear of the truck, the monster sniffed at K and Vicky he could sense something different about K, and could taste the dreams of both of them. Somewhere in its mutated mind it knew it was connected to them in some way but now only rage remained. It savagely ripped Vicky from her restraints, breaking her spine as it did so. Somehow her hand remained in K’s, which seemed to enrage the beast even more, for it immediately plunged its fist into K’s ribcage, shattering his ribs and pulping his lungs and heart.

In that instant, K awoke from his nightmare, knowing exactly what he had to do to redeem himself. His mutated arm whipped round and grabbed the monster’s wrist, gripping it tight. With the last of his strength he brought his mouth down and bit deeply into the flesh.

With a scream more terrible than anything it had ever uttered before the monster tried to pull away. Its skin seemed to blister and burn around the bite mark and a thick and stinking smoke began to spill from the wound. The monster thrashed around, penned inside the armoured vehicle it could not escape. The burning and blistering spread throughout its body and the smoke filled the interior completely. With a final roar the monster collapsed, its body smouldering on the floor.

Looking down on Vicky’s face, K shed a final tear before he went to join her on the other side.

Bonzo was pulling Kiera from the cab while trying to fend off the zombies which were gradually surrounding him when the creature died. Kiera awoke with a start, grabbing her pistol from her belt when she saw the zombies surrounding her and Bonzo, opening fire as Bonzo dragged her from the wreckage. Lying a short distance away she could see Shadow, his face exceptionally pale beneath the drying blood which plastered his face, a huge gash slashed through his hair, slick bone glinting beneath. She shouted wordlessly as she fired repeatedly, hustling Bonzo back to help guard Shadow, half supporting one another as they staggered back under the press of zombies, Bonzo weak from the prolonged fight and probably broken leg, and Kiera from the waking nightmare she had been living through.

Her pistol clicked empty.

At that moment the pick up truck with the survivors in crested the rise and the people within opened fire, shredding the advanced contingent of zombies who were harassing the survivors of the armoured car, and slewing to a halt besides them. Tombstone and Daisy jumped down and gently but quickly lifted Shadow into the back of the pickup while Halon covered them with the mini-gun.

“Get in the truck!” Tombstone shouted at Kiera as she stood at the open side door of the armoured car, staring into the interior, dumbstruck. Tombstone grabbed her by the arm and almost threw her into the back of the pickup, glancing into the armoured car he suppressed a shudder at the carnage within and the two small and shattered bodies that lay inside.

Daisy helped Bonzo into the pickup before climbing in herself. “Tombstone! Time to go!” she called, holding out her hand to him. With a last glance back at the monstrous zombie and the corpses of K and Vicky he turned and climbed aboard.

Jennifer gunned the engine and brought the truck around, putting as much distance between them and the still significant zombie army as she could.

At the end of the event, you have lost the battle bus and most of your heavy weapons that were stored within. You have also lost K and Vicky, who are now dead.

Shadow and Bonzo are both injured. Shadow seriously so (head trauma, fractured skull) and Bonzo has a probable fractured leg.

Amazing! Poor Shadow.. although I knew that writing in all of the supplies, weapons and DVDs would result in them getting destroyed at some point or another. Well, I guess it's up to Ghosty to patch Shadow up again. Oh crap.

I really enjoyed the second part, Silver, and I've learned my lesson: Don't make my character have everything that everyone needs to survive because he'll lose it and get f*cked in the process.
