Haven't come across one yet. Hopefully it won't take as long as when I hunted for the Squids.

Yeah, it took me a little while, and I was able to tame 2 of them. Expect to use around 2-6 bones each, I needed 2 for one and 5 for another, but I guess some may need more.
Also, they both died, sadly. They are awesome when they fight, but don't expect them to kill tons of zombies and stuff, they will die fairly quickly, so be careful.

Wolves are pretty cool and respawns have been fixed

Update it. they even work on multi.

I love my 3 wolves. Fenrir,Geki and Freki.
They make animal hunting so much fun.

It was crazy,I go out and find 5 on my door,I get a ton of bones,and then can't find them,now when ever I have no bones they are everywhere.

The thing they need to fix about the new spawning is compasses: they still point to the original spawn point no matter what.

I had 5 wolves:
one fell off a cliff.
one fell into lava.
I accidentally left-clicked while trying to tame one and it attacked me so I killed it.
the other two annoy me by pushing me and blocking doorways so I leave them at home while I farm and build.
I just found a zombie spawner, killed about 10, got bored and blew it up.

I had a wolf pet but he annoyed me so I pushed him into a 4x60x4 pit with lava at the bottom.

Hahaha I can see where minecraft will be heading for some people, new and interesting ways to kill your pet wolves

I keep mine at home in their pen keeps them out of trouble.

Meh, I don't like dogs anyway.

I had a pet slime but it recently jumped off the top of my tree house and took it's own life. Next time I'll have to remember to keep that door closed.

BTW: If I put flowing water all in a monster spawner, will they spawn in it? I know they don't in the actual water blocks, but do they in flowing water?

Aaaaand now I'm annoyed.
I made a mob trap just outside a spawner...
they spawn in a small 4x4x2 gap, the only way is forward, and they fall into a waterfall and drown. Thing is, they just stand there, staring at me. I'm beyond the waterfall, and they don't run at me or make any movement. Help?

I had the same thing happen when i was going up a ladder in a new cave system i found. The area i had a ladder was strange and my slime got to the top of the ladder and jumped backwards towards me. I realized what happened after a sudden *splat* sound. And I found it only 3 minutes earlier...

They're rare and will spawn in any light in any area large enough to spawn them in the lowest 16 blocks of the map. They can't swim so will die if they become submerged (Slimey III). They always jump towards you so they can come into trouble if they follow you of off a ledge (Slimey II) as the small ones you can use as pets have very very low health. In fact that's now Slimey IV died, I accidentally punched him while opening a door...

You have to kill the larger ones to make the small ones though and there is a limit on what weapon you can use, if it's too strong they won't split. So I just punch the big ones into smaller ones and trap them in minecarts so I can come back for them if the one I take with me dies.

Not sure about the flowing water thing, I've found a few in it before. Yet I've also come across some in areas without the water.

The slime needs a bit more patience than the wolves though. But the slimes mess with my minecart rollercoaster less than that damn teleporting wolf.

This is how my first died. Having a treehouse means they need to take a ladder up. So I build a temporary structure around it so they cannot go anywhere but on the ladder, and I go up the ladder first so they don't jump down anymore.

Is it just me or does anyone really use minecarts?

It's just I have nothing to use them for,and I don't want a big roller coaster.

I was going to make a train route but my stuff is really not that far away.

Also, did you know you can tame wolves to become dogs? You just need to feed them lots if bones!

On a more light hearted topic, I feel my Minecraft world has reached the point that I feel I could post pictures. Incidently, I'm completely in love with the natural beauty of my world, it's so mountain canyon-ey it's not true!

But I've got lost in exploration about three times so far, and have had to die to refind my house.

how do you put up pics? I'd like to put up a few of my mob traps...

I think F2 to remove the UI and then F3 to screenshot?

Or maybe it was F1 then F2.

Afterwards you upload them to a place like photobucket.

BTW my powered minecart always wants to go left- can I make it go right or do I have to build a circle track and wait for it to go round?

I think you can use levers for that purpose.

Put the lever next to a T intersection and it SHOULD operate as a switch for which direction you go.

Wow, this supposedly simple track from A to B has turned into a multi-level system, with at least 3 T-junctions, multiple switches, lots of booster carts, a few powered carts and a storage cart.
I've used around 120 Iron for two carts and a load of tracks, and I've covered about 1/4 of the way to point B.

Nice. That's why for now I'm digging huge canals for boat transport and docks at each place I would need to stop at. It still takes a lot of time, but all you need is enough iron for buckets, other than that just stone shovels and picks, but for now I'm using iron because it's simply faster. And I only need wood for the boats, instead of more iron for carts.

Build a transport through the nether. It cuts the distance by 1/8. Plus, fireballs!
