Let me know if that one actually lets you fly, Shrike. The ones I found just make the boat look like an airship.

So been going at it a while now, didnt like my first world so I started on a second. Much better layout.

I found a cave in the side of a mountain that I turned into my first shelter of sorts. I started digging it out and made a nice little well lit area, then managed to dig a tunnel to the ocean where I made an underwater glass dome with a bed and what not.

Then I started digging a mine, when all of a sudden I dug on from under me and fell to my death. Come to find out under my mountain was a HUGE cave network, still havent finished exploring it yet, been trying to make it safe with ladders and what torches. (already found two creepers in there that made the cave that much bigger).


Also learned a valuable lesson, stayed out to late to far from my cave one night so I dug myself a quick hole and made a make shift shelter to stay through the night in. Head back to my cave and realise the door had been left open. Sure enough I hear that all to familiar sizzling sound and my entryway got a whole lot bigger.

Fun as hell game, I was skeptical but having a blast.

It'll have the chapel with stairs going down each level, and continue like this, and have all the three 'special entrances' for a quick path to special areas

And the rest of the buildings and the fountain in the center

My canal completely failed. I thought digging it at a diagonal instead of just having an L-shaped bend in between 2 straight sections would help, but now I learn a boat will only point N-S or E-W. Thats a waste of a few hours...

Here's my castle. I'm doing some landscaping and terraforming later. There's a nether portal on top of it, which is in a garden with NO grass. Luckily, I threw down some dirt in a way that will eventually get grass on it. Good for me.

Needs a Deckard Cain statue, a plaque reading "Greetings friend, stay a while and listen.".

So are underground cave systems normal? I have been exploring one for a few hours. Found a dungeon in it, tons of stone and other or, but its crazy, sometimes it just drops off into a deep chasm. There are also tons of mobs in there, found a few creepers, zombies, and other evil critters. Its taking forever cause im having to put cobblestone stair systems into the deep dropoffs, tons of torches, mining out a few things... Not to mention a few deaths from random creepers that are down there.

Few questions I have about the game tho.

If you die and all your stuff drops, does it decay after so long? Think I lost a ton of stuff when I was exploring (and learned the importance of caching things first).

Can you change your respawn?

Yeh the items will vanish after a little while. I'm not sure if you can change your spawn point. I think one of the recent changes was using a bed would do that, but I haven't noticed it work yet.

Caves seem to be pretty common, usually they'll have better resources than if you just went strip mining. I usually have the fun of building right on top of them and finding them as I start making basement levels.

Yeah thats how I discovered the cave....

I was digging out a room under a mountain when all off a sudden i fell to my death into a HUGE cave system... Been over 3-4 hours and Istill think i have explored less than half of it.

It's how I managed to lose my first house. It's night so I dig a little, fall down and left on one heart. So I think I had a wooden pickaxe, some stone, tiny bit of coal and some dirt, and spent the rest of the night running from everything trying to find my way out. I finally emerge, it's daytime and have no idea where I am.

Never found the house again and had to build a new one. Good thing it was only day two so it wasn't much of a loss.

Haha sounds like me, after spending like an hour finding my camp after my first death I marked the beach, the entrance, and the top of the mountain I lived on with plenty of torches.

A way to find everything again might be to mark where you are with torches, then download something like cartographer, look for your old base, look for the torches you just marked your position with and use that as a rough map.

It helps if you build a bigass tower first thing.

These days my bases are up off the ground and well lit up including the area around it. Even though I get lost pretty often when exploring they're fairly easy to find now. That map is also not compatible with the Beta (mods I had) so I'm guessing I'll never find it now.

Sounds awesome. You should take some pics.

Also, you could always set fire to the forest and watch it burn down...

Sometimes if you're lucky it just burns itself down.

I had a similar problem day 1- My spawning island had no coal or caves on, so I swam to another. I built a base there, died, couldn't find my way back, and ended up building a bridge from one island to another in the dark, fending off zombies and creepers. When day broke I finished building the bridge, built a base at the other end and I still live there to this day.

What's the seed?

I play on hard just for kicks, but I wound up chopping down half of the rainforest (amounting to 384 wood blocks) and proceeded to build 64 ladders and a house on the top of the mountain where my pet wolf sits at the bedside. There is a secret tunnel under my front door which is a chasm to the base of the mountain where it leads out to the rainforest. I also managed to create a pig spawner (by getting grass next to a monster spawner), and now harvest pigs to feed by pets.

I just typed in DAKKA for the seed...

What's your coordinates? I want to find that place and set it on fire.

My computer can't run minecraft :(

I say we should make a Dakka server to all play on. Having such good minecrafters would surely make the place lively!
