I really love the stained bottom edge of Mortarion's cloak. You did a great job on him.

Many thx folks. Morty'll get his studio photos at the weekend. Next week I'll start on the next commission - 40k guirlyman..... with a twist
In the interim, here's a little tickle of what I've started on for my own collection. 54mm brother Artemis from the old Inquisitor range. He'll be my third of this range and I just love the scale. Worked on his left arm yesterday. Not finished but getting there. Hope you like

off to a good start on Artemis, that blade is already looking beautiful.

Is that the same Artemis from the 40k Death Masque set? Same character, I mean; it's obviously a different model if it's 54mm after all. If so, that'll be a cool thing to see! If not, I'm sure it'll still be cool.

Cheers folks. @zergsmasher. It's the same character as from the Dark Masque set - Brother Captain Artemis of the Mortifactors but seconded to the DW. The 54mm sculpt is a beauty though. Started on the black armour last night. It's gonna take an age. The joys of black battle plate

Cheers everyone. Artemis will be taking a bit of a backseat now as I start on another commission - 40K Rawbutt Girlyman!
However - did finally get photos taken of the finished Mortarion

Individual images in the spolier as per usual - hope you like. He was a great model to paint. Really had a blast. Packing him up now to send of to his new forever home

Great work on Morty here. The individually weathered and corroded armour plates give the model a level of care and detail that it deserves. I've seen a few too many of these that just look drybrushed with silver and hit with a wash to represent worn armour.

Nice strong start to Artemis as well. I do like the effect you have on his blade.

Morty is great! not too over the top weathering and he looks cold and dirty like a good lord of death should! the armour is indeed really nicely done too!

Gorgeous Morty Jan another spectacular piece from your desk. The style you did him in reminds me of Paradigms painting style, darker and grittier with a muted palette. Every new piece you do man just keeps getting better and better, can't wait to see more.

Stunning, just beautiful work. Looking forward to see what you do with Girlyman, but that 54mm has so much win already, really can't wait.

Thank you so much everyone. Really happy how Mortarion came out. He was a long project but so worth it. The brass trim on some of the armour panels was a pain!! Had a lot of fun with this one. He needed to be grubby and battleworn but still identifable both as a primarch and also of his legion's colours. Fine balance to strike so that he doesnt just look like some dirty ol angry warrior. The sculpt is gorgeous, probably my favourte of the FW primarachs, even though his character is an utter arse, they really did a great job! Artemis is coming along - been working on his black battle plate but he'll be taking a bit of a backseat now as I start on Guilly. Updates soon~ish

Fantastic work on that armored plating Jan. The weathering came out beautifully (or disgustingly?) and as always your metals are coming out on point.

Your work is stunning as always, the colour scheme on that bloated thingy is truly disgusting. That looks amazing, disgusting but amazing.

Mortarion looks great. I love the desaturated feel of the color scheme, it really makes the metals pop in both the figure as well as the base.

Many many thanks everyone. Mortarion is now with his new owner whose well happy with him. The bloat drone is such a fun icky bugger to paint. Really enjoying him. Trying a few new things out on him too. And work continues on Deathwatch Guilly too. And in other (awesome) news - my twitch channel has another new sponsor - Darkstar Miniatures, who sent me a huge box of their product lines to try out and review!!! Their range of metallics are gorgeous. Having much fun testing them out on stream.
