Brotherhood of Blood

Thinking of doing a gaunt horde army and need some ideas on color schemes and the quickest and fastest way to mass paint these guys.  I still want them to look decent though.  i was thinking possibly of doing the behemoth theme (Red with black carapace) as this looked easier than some of the other paint options.

Necros is the "alienid" master. Here's a link to his website:

He uses a pale metallic blue drybrush over black, but as StarGate mentioned greys could work, as would dark browns.

Amongst the Stars, In the Night

I've always wanted to do a cockroach 'nid army. Some gs/resin castings of the "alien queen" extended carapace head thingy fitted to all/most bugs (even the 'gaunts), skaven tail antennae (or gs/resin antennae), and then painted as follows:
Primer (black)
Charred + Beastie Brown bodies
Bone claws/teeth
Olive Green eyes
Other details in khaki/browns
Black/brown Magic wash.

Viola! Roaches!

Another brilliant thing is the "Phil Kelly" theme.

Paint them all black and do the prominent features in bone, i.e. the teeth, talons, middle ridges on the

 carapace.

That way you have the menacing blac alien with the "killy parts" instantly recognisable on the tabletop.

Phil wanted to get a little more involved an painted a Rorschach pattern on the carapace, but that is not needed.

Yeah, Phil's scheme is one of my favorites too. Beautiful in its simplicity.

And blue tongues! Don't forget the blue tongues!
