well your tank is obiously big but still rightz in scale! i think mine is a bit off the scale (^^) the thing i like about your perun is the form of it...he is a bit more realistic in terms of profile...he is longer and this makes him look way lower than the steamtank of mine...seeing yours and mine tanks i think i will definatly do another tank in the nearer future...i am also now in the planning phase for something walker like...tho the form and how to of the legs gives me the willies....

Well, Vik, keep in mind that your machgine was built using steam power principles, so that does require more room for the workings and gears and water and fuel hoppers. Mine is still very Russian inspired to be low slung.

As for making a walker, well, there are pics out there showing leg of the mechanical type out there on the web.

yeah did quite some research already^^ is a long term project, often abondoned by me...

i just saw that the spnsons are quite big...much bigger than any vanilla GW sponsons, this is too a good reason why the perun looks so much better than the stubby LR...also two way sponsons are double win... it is clear that the leman russ is with such a weapon layout planned for frontal attacks and not to stay its ground...the perun is a fortress and thus needs the multi directional systems. i think in battle the perun will last many times longer than the standard leman russ...not only through it´s extra equip but mainly through multidirectional firepower... it will be pretty nasty to get into an angle to get close enough to tackle the perun...

Hence it's nickname, the Dikobraz(Porcupine). I did not like that the sponsons on the Leman Russ are limited to the 90degrees either. so many FW big tank sponsons, though single weapons, have a 120 degree arc at least.

So the Perun, from sponson to sponson edgemeasures 6" or 15.2cm, and is 9.5"long or 22.8cms long

I think making the simplest legs works for steam punk

funny i measured the steamtan too today...he is 30cm long, and about 20cm give ot take wide...height i currently forgott^^

i think i should wait a bit with making a steampunk walker...what my army really needs is a transport...this would also make me able to make something not that big and a bit more true to actual size...tho still rather truescale^^

also i feel very honored that you stick to the nickname^^

Well, it is a good nickname, and biohazardcake went to the effort of letting us know the word for it.

definatly apocalyptic scale...as in when its barrels roar the apocalypse is at least for some starting already^^

Also, it is a superheavy clkass like the Perun, so both tanks would be good for massive point valued battles of over 3000pts or more

The backside of the Perun, I am still needing to work on the weathering of rivets. The Heavy Bolter barbette is all set to protect the engine areas from those pesky assaulters!

Anyway, I do promise pics of exposed metal on rivets, and plates, as i figure the sponsons will get scratched when they push in for storage, as well as oiled on the sponsons, I will find something to be rust and or just dirt streaking down.

Snogrot is one of Tek' S;la's collaborators,m a mechanical oriented Big Mek where Tek' Sla does energy things!

Okay, time for some wear and tear on that mighty old Perun, many years of scraping with tools and such on the boltys and other bits sticking out, boot scrapes and such, now where is exposed "metal" will also get Tin bitzed and other colors to make it look like areas neglected, and rusting. Oh the horrors!

despite the mostly blurred or badly lighted pics the weathering looks very good...will you tone down the shiny effect of the scratched metal? at first it really made my heart ache to see the perun be that scratched all over^^ but then perspective tuned in and i have to say this will make him doubly cool^^

Well, the next step was the tin bitz added tot he silvery bits, a good dirty wash should help as well, and i do have somne salt to mix into a material to make that very pitty/corroded sensation. But for now:

one thing so, now the treads look a shade too dark... a bit of lightening up i think with some very dry drybrushing of a fairer metalic could do then wonders...

the new bomma thread i already commented on and subscribed to already too^^ looks very promising... when will you start the actual modeling?

Next I will dry brush more clean metal, and add "mud" to the treads. I will glue patches of salt, and then paint bits of color on them. Oh this tank is shaping up sweetly!
