This looks also a good way for me to go, with my washes and such

the washes technique is something i wanted to do too to my tank...i need to find me a vid for that tho...mere pics can´t explain it sufficiently...
and in referrence to the first pic...don´t ruin your nice paintjob by going all rusty...tho while the perun is an artefact probably it is still one that is kept working and cared for i guess with the utmost willpower to keep archeotech alive and kicking... so the imperials would not allow to get such a big fighting engine in such a bad state...that would be an instant act of heresy...

go for the total wash job and a tad rust and some salt only...

That's actually one of those things that's a bit counter-intuitive, rust on vehicles.

Often times, the most extreme looking rust is the least damaging surface rust. It's the stuff you can't see, the little spot rust, and the rust that's under the paint, that does the most damage.

Yeah, I do like the wash appraoch for accumulated grime better myself.

the bubble effect could be done with just paint over salt...or snad for that matter... as i recall there is a special kind of san out there... wasn´t it beach sand that has round grains?


yep, grime is much better than open rust for the perun... he can be dirty all the way, provided he gets the job he is assigned to done... rust as said before would mean heresy by the crew...*cogs boltpistol*

Well, I g\have the salt ready to get glued on and worked through, then rub it off or something like that, or leave it as part of the grime effects.

i guess both ways would do a great effect... some bubbles and some wear and tear...

LOL!, I do happen to have Fallout-3 as well as Fallout: New Vegas, great shooty games and such.

one day when i don´t spend to much on ebay i will try to get fallout 3 too...played all the other pc games from that line but the current ones i miss out on ....for now...

I just wish they would let me grab a tank or something on the X-box version!

well...in the second game you could team up with 3 npc´s iirc...you`d need at least such a team setup to be not only meat in a can^^

Of course you already know that the "factory finish" will not be long once I reach a certain point and get those girls dirtied up with mud and grime and such.


Oh yes, Perun's rusty tracks with streaks of bared metal to give that "scraped clean" look.

That effect was inspired by seeing hosed off tractor treads that had rust, but also had that look with exposed bare metal as the rocks and sand scraped the rust off the metal shoes.

you just have to love these scratches on the sponsons...cool work matey! the tracks look now very good, the reason behind the current look is very sound! a true ancient warbeast...

Those scratches are to show she scratched the paint as they slid the sponsons into the hull for transport in tighter areas!

Muddying up the Perun now.
