how did it come to that effect with the salt? will you peel it off then later on or is it to be staying there? looks interresting...

I am debating the leaving it as it looks like dirt I have seen before on vehicular cases where the mud had yet to be hosed off, and it seems to have made me think that this was brilliant!

i too think it is suitable as a very thick layer of spalttered mud that reached higher ground and now clings to the face of the tank for the sheer hell of it^^

that marauder is a sight for sore eyes^^ i think the design has definatly something to say for itself! the shape is something much more realistic and modern than the Leman Russ in a hundred years^^

A nice light tank, nothing heavier than the auto-cannon, and Heavy bolters and stormbolter

Wow very nicely done marauder! I like the look ofit a lot. As said it has a more "modern" look then 40k tanks. Plus the turret just looks menacing on the tank!

That weathering is top notch!!! It looks great! Now I am sure you guys have explained it at some point durin this thread but I couldn't find it. How do exactly do the salt method? I like the results and would love to try it out!

I used the shield shaped citadel palette, poured some salt into one of the round paint mix areas, and then with a lot fo paint on the brush began mixing paint to the salt crystals, and then brushed it all on, as if I were smearing real mud almost!

is this supposed to work that way? i thougt you first used something like hairspry on tank, then add salt and then when dried aply paint... later have salt peeled off and reveal paint underneath...the pattern the slatcrystals make then is something the eye would take for scratches and so on...

I was using this for mud, can't afford the hairspray method.

hairspry got banned in the U.S??? or why? do you use it all up each morning for your own head?^^

i read somehwre that a guy did it with something called marmide and another did it with syrup and nutella...same technique after painting rinse the stuff off and you get the layer underneath...

Ah, here I used a modification of the GW rust technique as they love to do it all with paint.

You know looking at it now, that does look a bit odd the way that post came out.

Mostly worked on the Ork Fighta-Bomma, may have some other work done soon if there are still lights as painting does need more light than the scrapyard construction!
