Ah, it gets better. Sony has 'turned down' a 'request' to appear before the US Congress to explain themselves.

Sheesh this is brutal. It really sucks that we may have lost credit card info and our personel information, but I would really hate to be the C.E.O. of SONY right now. I mean, first off they had the earthquake, then the tsunami, now this. Not a good year for Japan...

I'm still taking a look around for info stating anything about a 'reimbursment' for PSN users, but nothing yet.

They said that they're toying with the idea of a free 30 day PSN plus membership.

Is it too much to hope for a price drop on PS3 because of this? I think so, but I'll do it anyways.

I wonder what long term effect this will have on the playstation brand.

Actually there was a rumor about dropping the price a month or so before the hack.

It will probably be about $50 only. The rumor started after that GeoHotz guy found the rootkey for the PS3 and SONY said that they make a newer model that will be unhackable(mind you it took a little over 5 years to finally hack the system that way), the PSP dropped in price recently so maybe during the summer or right before fall.

Still with that price drop, the PS3 would be a 250 GB system with a Blu-Ray player for $299.99.

Even fifty dollars is pretty good to me, it's that much less money that I have to pay! It was seeming like a pretty sweet deal even without the price drop, there are quite a few games that I'm dying to get, not to mention that it would be nice for me to have my own blu-ray player for when I move out.

You could also wait for a nice sale, my store was giving away a $50 gift card for the store and a $20 PSN card if you bought a PS3. We had a similar deal for the 360's as well, $50 store card and a $19.99 Marketplace card.

Oh man, that would be sweet! I hope one arises soon, as if I need more things keeping me from painting, but I do love me some video games. My wallet is going to get seriously hit once I get a PS3, though.

God of War 1-3, Killzone 3 (can't decide if I should get 2 or not), Little Big Planet 1 and 2, Mortal Kombat, Resistance, Uncharted, Demon's Souls... Yeah. It's going to be a fun summer to stay indoors.

PSN should be up by the end of the week(hopefully).
30 days of free PSN Plus membership.
30 days of free Music Unlimited from Qriocity.
Free content(hasn't been specified yet).

Nice little package with more to come, I mean I like getting free stuff. But the other cool thing is that PSN users will be getting free content from SONY and then getting PSN Plus which reduces the price on content and makes some things free.

Looks like another hack might be inc this weekend.

I thought It was only 1 hacker.(A 17 year old boy.)

These hackers are just a bunch of asshats they have effectivly made the network go down for just short of a month so far.

Actually it wasn't that they were hacked again, as I understand it, it was that Sony decided to not bring the network up if it was going to be attacked again right away, meaning they aren't actually sure their fixes work.

I wonder how many of these hackers have Xbox Live?

I heard that it was hacked again, but if the network got hacked again right after installing new security measures then it most likely is an inside job because there's no way it could happen that fast.

@Hazzer, no it wasn't just one 17 yeard old boy. All of that is just a myth because people want to rag on SONY for having bad security(mainly 360 fanboys who forgot the 2 week shutdown of Xbox live in christmas of 2007).

Personally, I'd like to see the internet itself fail for a month or two and watch what happens.

The world would collapse.

And it wouldn't be because the lack of the Internet either.

Granted, it was originally designed to survive World War 3, but it'd be interesting to see people forced to interact in person again....
