I feel I preferred the original swarm master head.

And the size of some of the miniatures - wow!

However previous kickstarter's mean that I'll not go past Host level on this.

As an aside, if we keep hitting stretch goals and i receive the ever pleasant gift of cash this birthday then i'm going to have to add some funds to get the garage kits i think!

As it hasn't been posted yet here's the current Wyrm WIP - both Swarm and Queen level currently get this as part of their pledge - Host level will get it as well @$27k

So is Queen a "complete" functional and reasonable Tyranid Army? I have only played a really small amount of 'nids in a Combat Patrol force, about 8 years ago, so I'm not at all familiar with the newest codex.

If you post the list along with what you want to proxy each model as then i can tell you how functional it is as a whole. I can give you suggestions about swapping stuff around too if you would like.

Heh, thanks for the offer, but I don't have the current codex. The old one I have is both out of date and has been packed away somewhere since I moved last and will be staying somewhere until I move again at the end of the year. Then I need to find it, this out-of-date codex. I also have NFI what new or exciting units Tyranids use or do these days. If you can draw up a reasonable list as Alph suggests then that would be great.

No problem guys. It's bed time here and it's my birthday tomorrow but i'll factor in some time in the morning to do that.

Assuming we hit 36K, Queen has:
Overlord = Hive Tyrant w/ wings
Drone = Tervigon
43 Grubs = Unit of 20 gaunts and 23 more to spawn from Tervigon
15 Hosts = Trade-in, see below
15 Adults = Trade-in, see below
15 Swarm Warriors = Use up to 9 as Hive Guard
5 Hounds = Ymgarl Genestealers
5 Stealth Swarm = Same as above, whichever you like better
5 Larvae Swarm = Rippers
1 Limited Edition larger Grub = Zoanthrope
1 Limited Edition Host = Trade for another Zoanthrope
Wyrm = Doom of Malanti? Or trade for another Trygon (see below)
Fiend = Trygon
Queen = Depending on size, may be a more appropriate Tyrant than the Overlord
Swarm Master = See above . Your HQ models!
3 Sky Hunters = See above

Trading in hosts and adults he told me he would give me grubs in a 2 to 1 ratio. So 30 Host/Adult models nets 60 more grubs.

Then I'd trade in enough unused models for another Tervigon. I'd probably use the extra swarm warriors ($2 apiece, so $10 for trading in 5) and the stealth swarm ($4 apiece so $20 for trading in 5) for a total of $30.

This gives you:

Various HQ figures
2 Tervigons
103 Gaunts
5 Genestealers
Up to 9 Hive Guard
2 Zoanthropes
2 Trygons

Depending on the HQs (a pair of flying tyrants runs over 500 points) that can easily be 2K, I believe.

He has said trades are fine . I am going to swap adults/hosts for grubs, but most posters seem to be going the other way. You can work it out later but whether you want a swarm (me) or Nidzilla, Queen is sweet.

Overlord may be too big for a Tyrant, so may need to be used as a Trygon instead of using the Fiend for that... we'll know when more sculpts are out but 6-8" tall sounds too big for even a huge tyrant

Also I am DONE with my pledge... Queen x 2 with $35 add-on for resin bases for all of the models each, and an extra Drone. Expensive, but wayyyyyy less than a comparably-sized tyranid army from GW.

I'm rather confused. If I go for Host pledge now, what do I get then?

From the website it says 10 grubs, 5 adults, and 3 hosts.

But, from the pictures, it shows 13 grubs, 6 hosts, 1 limited edition host, 1 hound, 1 limited edition grub, 1 queen, 8 adults, and 1 sky hunter.

Now obviously, you can see the latter is so much more desirable. So which is it? is the original list what I'd get, or is it the second?

The first lot is what the actual pledge was for, the second list is what you'll actually get including the stretch goals that have been reached so far - there may be more added before the KS closes.

It is the latter - IF all the stretch goals were hit (?) and with more to come IF more stretch goals are hit!

Oh, that's totally awesome. I'm at Uni at the moment, and I'm currently tossing up between Host, or Swarm level. Depends on whether or not I want to eat I guess.

Which'd be a wiser choice d'you think?

I started at Host level but upped to Swarm level. I will be using the trade in option to get some of the add ons I want that are outside the pledge levels like the Dreadnought. I have no need of 30 Grubs so 15 are getting traded for $15 credit and I'll trade the Fiend once Swarm level gets it for $20 credit - I'm using these minis as alternatives for Sedition Wars so anything that doesn't fit on a 50mm base is out (the Wyrm just about qualifies and I like the sculpt so it stays). The $35 will help to pay for the Dreadnought a second flyer and some "Alien" alien hunters (not Predators!). I've also added the $30 to upgrade all the Swarm level miniatures bases as I want a load of tiled bases for another project and this is an inexpensive way of getting the bases.

I'm trying hard to stay with just Host after a rash of KS funding (no doubt I'm not the only one in that particular boat ), but do want some of the add-ons, so it's getting tricky not to go the same route as DaveC.

Anyone have a link to all the 'trade in' language?

I need to figure out my pledge level!

Thanks for that link. Should make it a little easier to figure out what to pledge, although it looks like I'm still probably better off going full a la carte since I'm mainly interested in the big stuff. Hosts might be nice for some Nurgle conversions though. Time to go play with Excel.
