I Know. The barrels are always my downfall. I plan to fix that after this project. Going to relearn how to do everything.

In the meantime,

GW is arguably the most imaginative and technical model company in the world. They produce beautiful and terrible models by the dozens. And yet they market to 12 year olds. And here is the result. Why.....why? Its enough to make me cry.

@panda- That Russ is even worse than I thought. It may be a total loss. Still plan to enter your competition. Just trying to figure something out worth doing.

On to the Rifles. The 2nd Russ is coming along nicely, should be done in a day or two. A little more than half way done with the 3rd veteran squad. Nothing too special there, just melta vets. The gunners for the AC squad will be up next. Im really looking forward to finishing that squad. Those guys on the right are the stormtroopers. I decided the cadians were out of place so I broke it all down and rebuilt them as Genswick guys.

Really like the rebuild on the Stormtroopers. Somehow they just mesh better with the entire army now IMO.

Give the Russ the Skalk Bloodaxe treatment: hit it with a hammer.

@xeno99- Yeah, you are totally right on that one. No matter how you dress them up, Cadians are Cadians.

@inmygravenimage- Im about to. I had to remove the treads. Oh well, cant complain too much over $15. At least I was able to salvage the turret.

awe it looked like it could live.

It may live if I can get new tracks. But I am not optimistic. I think a half gallon of glue was used on this guy. Hard to file it all off in some key places. The good news is the Demolisher is all finished as is the vet squad. I think Ill build the Valkyrie next.

Hmm i am interested how you will paint the Valkyrie to fit in your scheme.

@Dinamarth- Thanks man, glad you like what you see.

@panda- I decided to paint it the same as the rest of the army. The question is how to paint the defense line.

On that note, just some WIP shots. Stormtroopers and Baneblade.

I like that the stormtroopers get big hats! How are you going to genswick-ise the bb? Also, I saw WWI style rough riders down with those heads and they looked stunning, so would really like to see your take on that.

simply fascinated by the bucket helmet storm troopers. Well done. Baneblade could get bigger side skirts and front armor to
genswick-ise it.

Thanks gents! Those buckets show up in the oddest places. As for the Baneblade, I think I will ad a Genswick tank commander. I didnt alter the other tanks so I dont think I will this one. We shall see.

I like the idea of just the tank commander to denote Genswickism, it makes sense.

I recommend something more on the side of the Russ though, maybe some panels or trim the same color as the infantry's shoulder pads?

Any way, keep up the good work... And love all the plasma on the storm troopers!

sounds very simple, but very effective.

So I managed to churn out the Stormtroopers and finally finish the AC squad. Think they turned out well.

Good grief these pics stink.

Wonderfully refreshing army, the only thing I would suggest is to drill out the barrels. Especially on Grenade Launchers and Autocannons etc.

I just love your gun carriages, they're so perfect. Now you just need tractors!

@Phantommaster- Thanks man. Its nice to paint a guard army that isnt Cadian or Catachan. Those guys rock and all, but they are what they are.

@inmygravenimage- That may be an idea if I have time. About to start the Valkyrie and the Baneblade just got its first colors.

@panda- Thanks man. By the way, have an idea finally for the competition. I have till the end of April right?

@panda- Yeah, Ive been watching it. Lots of great stuff. Was going to try a SM squad, but am now moving towards Catachan snipers.

In the meantime I have the Baneblade under construction and the Valkyrie put together. Actaully it will be a Vendetta. The lascanons are SM Predator sponsons. Worked pretty well.

very nice again! and the lascannon sponsons are a nice touch. Most players also pay for the heavy bolter upgrades, are you going to add them or leave as is? Both are fine. Excited to see some paint.

Made in us
Stubborn Dark Angels Veteran Sergeant

@panda- Nah, not heavy bolters. I already glued the doors shut. Oh well, there is always the next army.

Just for kicks I decided to take a group shot of the infantry platoon. I've mentioned several times I have never played, but I read all the battle report and tactics threads. I read a lot about blob infantry platoons being "blobbed" and sitting on an objective. I have armed these guys up quite a bit. I think they can handle all comers. If not, they will look cool getting smashed.

Your army is very nice and very well executed.

Just as a suggestion if you later choose to add some Chimeras, I did a conversion that would probably suit your army's aesthetic quite well.

It's the Chimera tank tracks combined with the central part of Ironclad's Steam Tank 5 (http://www.ironcladminiatures.co.uk/shop/article_steam05/Steam-5.html?sessid=v7PYnWu4GOqcCBpSDJofwcA7t7t0sXxmG16TKYpCZg59ymNldKwxgvIFYkcsIRRt&shop_param=cid%3D10%26aid%3Dsteam05%26).

That website has a load of viable options for the Genswicks.

@panda- Thanks man, Ill post a shot of the whole thing pretty soon. Does look pretty cool!

@Maxim C. Gatling- Yeah, I probably bought enough Cadian bits to build a Cadian army. I was lucky how everything seemed to match up to the Brets and fit.

@Ketara- Thank you, I appreciate that. I was considering Chimeras but, honestly, have about reached the end of this project. I checked out that store, pretty cool stuff. Maybe for the future. My next IG army will feature Victoria Miniatures, maybe these too. And I noticed the Preatorians in your pic. They are my all time favorite, well done.

@Dinamarth- Glad to see you are still here!

As for the rest, Lord Commissar is done. Stupid lighting stinks. And the last of the vets, flamer squad. I built a Astropath/Fleet guy and a Master of Ordinance. Also finished the sniper squad.
