This is one that I've not yet built as I'm not keen on the overly sexualised elements. You've done a fantastic job removing these and that glow... wow!

Yeah that's a much better take on the Lion God (as much as I like the chubby little face of the original).

Thanks, yeah, it really felt like, i dunno, not even suggestive, just openly sexual organs for no other sake than having them. aku, yeah, I actually liked the old face decently as a concept and if it looked more like the one on the rules' inside cover I might have kept it, but it looked too much to me like someone had practiced sculpting will farrell's face and then didn't bother to give it an expression.

The changes, or the monster itself? Either way, thanks.

While I liked most of the original KD content, more and more I've found that the designs are hit or miss for me. I think the closer to survival and a Dark Souls vibe, the more it resonates; the more towards body horror (a genre I love if done well) or sex the less I like it, largely because I don't think they get much nuance...

The changes. And let me second that. To me KD ends where it stops being about survival. Best horrors born with a darkness and a lantern are always in ones own head... IMHO.

First new post in a while, my interpretation of the KD Ringtail Vixen (a few notes: https://spiralingcadaver.blogspot.com/2021/01/kingdom-death-ringtail-vixen-kitsune.html)

Thanks! Yeah, I really tried to give this a richer sense of place and character than the original/stock version's sort of flat ahistorical pinup sensibility that mainly seemed concerned with attitude.

So, trying for a more fantasy/historical feel:

Loving all of these. The green on the shielded warrior really pops, the use of red throughout that first piece is really well done and I am absolutely in love with the metals on the last guy. How did you achieve that effect?

Thanks! The short version is that it's a combination of more traditional NMM and blending, and rejecting those skills. If you paint it pretty normal if a bit dark but then really don't hold back with black shading or white highlights without intervening steps esp. lighter greys, it can get that intense pop. It doesn't look amazingly realistic, but as slightly stylized, I really enjoy the effect.

Thanks for the info spiralingcadaver. I'm really loving the looks of those blades and agree it's less realistic more stylistic and I feel that's exactly why they're speaking to me. Will definitely be giving it a shot on my current project. Thanks again!

Got to say, the bright white highlights really hit me too, really well done and a cool style to see. Love the green shield on one of the survivors and the molten look to the Butcher.
