I actually really dig that they point out how the "Collector's Edition" book, will have the entirety of all of the campaign scenarios, in order, to be one as a massive campaign. Stuff like that has me very excited, and I feel like if my group and I run through that, even once, it will have well paid for the value of the entire Kickstarter.

This KS definitely has genuine value, rather than gamed perceptions of value that won't hold up later at retail. If someone can buy the $149 Dark Legion pledge later at retail for less than $149, I'll chronicle a mutant.
I stuck to $1 at the end, though, as my most important question - variant sculpts - still awaits a full answer, and I don't really need any more $150 deluxe miniature boardgames. I'm sure Modiphius will get plenty of money from paypal and lots more from $1 pledges upping to Dark Legion and Dark Legion pledgers adding things on in the PM, so I'm sure they could do variant sculpts if they wanted. As to whether or not they will, who knows. FFG doesn't bother with variant enemy poses as a general rule, but variant sculpts are an expected standard for boardgames with higher quality miniatures, like the ones CMON and Mantic produce.

One thing I appreciate about the "real" value, is that you can really see the future release model, and know the prices aren't fudged for KS-sake.
Clearly the 3-4 expansions that include tiles, new heroes, new enemies, etc... will be boxed for sale, and then stuff like Illian and the like are clearly smaller, end-cap style blisters of one new "boss", maybe a paper pamphlet with a couple new scenarios, and so on.
There are, no doubt, a whole line's worth of releases which I suspect FFG will drip-feed out for some time, keeping the game visible, and supported. As such, KS backers get a hell of a deal, but a whole rich line of products will eventually help FLGS's have an excuse to keep the game played.

Is there any "between missions" events, ala the travel/towns of Warhammer Quest of old?
Yes we'll actually present all the missions as a narrative letting you follow various critical events in the siege and the battles that led up to it. Characters currently progres I believe up to 10 or 12 levels, and we are looking at scope beyond that with unique abilities limited to what your archetype is (melee, ranged, tech)
With the Luna Expansion there's a 'between missions' deck that is a bit of a risk - it can provide cool stuff but also bad events.
Vermonter wrote:Gasmasked Mook wrote:I am probably going to buy in anyway (both for the boardgame and for use in the excellent rpg) but do we know about any variant sculpts for the Dark Legion models? One sort works fine for a boardgame or rpg but I would be more hesitant building a tabletop army out of a pledge with 20 identical sculpts
Unfortunately, it's one of the few evident weaknesses of this campaign: there aren't any variant sculpts whatsoever. So yes, all 20 undead legionaires will indeed look like an identical chorus line. This is in keeping with the original Siege of the Citadel, in which there was one pose per enemy type.
That would ordinarily be a deal-killer for me, but on the other hand, they're unlocking so many different character and enemy types that you still end up with a lot of unique miniatures.
Yes we are looking at it - we wanted to breakdown the final production and see where the possibility would be to unlock extra poses based on likely moulds, that might be a new stretch goal added in for the pledge manager (yes we keep unlocking goals after)
NewTruthNeomaxim wrote:
If the KS creators are watching this space... here's a quick request. Any chance of expanding on/adding a "between games" expansion? Something which lets events or such happen between game sessions with rammifications on the next game?
Yes see above there is a deck in the Luna expansion and rules to cover this. We may expand on this next.. . (watch this space).

Extra poses for necromutants and undead legioniars would be great.

Thanks Modiphius. It feels wonderful to be "heard" as a consumer. You've already got my $150, but come Pledge Manager I expect I will be adding much, much more. Certainly that $100 game-add-on bundle, but probably some of the print RPG books as well!
Keep us up on the "advanced progression" and expanded between-game phase stuff! I would absolutely love to see that further developed to finally give us that game that outright usurps classic Warhammer Quest, mechanically.

Especially because it's actually Modiphius and Cabinet, and I'm unclear how things are divided up. Modiphius is mostly a book publisher, Thunderbirds was a good game but not nearly as complex in terms of components (and the models were...not the most detailed). Cabinet is... vague, but seems to be focused around licensing their IP (which includes Mutant Chronicles) rather than anything production related. Which is odd, given that they cite the experience of Fred Malmberg (who is also the CEO of Paradox Interactive, the videogames publisher) of Cabinet as helping them to produce a miniatures boardgame - that doesn't seem to be his role here, although he did found the publisher of the original Siege of the Citadel.
And of course, while FFG are involved, it's to handle retail distribution & localisation only, emphatically nothing to do with what happens with the backers:
Cabinet and Modiphius are running the kickstarter and are in charge of the development, design and production of the game. They will also be handling the fulfilment to Kickstarter backers. The awesome team at FFG are going to be handling the retail sales and translations of the game.
I'm sure it's all going to be fine, but if it does blows up I feel it will do so impressively!

Perente is been named a few times iirc so the factory he works for has been involved in miniatures production, I am sure that unlike dust though he will deliver without shenanigans because he is not part of this project he is a contractor.

I guess you must ask Modiphius about that. Write here (they usually reply quickly) http://www.modiphius.com/contact.html

Hey, thanks a lot! I figured I should somehow show it to the serious remake crowd before letting it go. It's made to fit the original SotC so it is obviously not relevant now, but maybe an expansion for the original would be cool after the release.
Cheers
