It's fairly unlikely I'll get to take part (again).
I've been laid low with a sinus infection for over 10 days, and can now walk unassisted.

The musicians are something I've wanted to do for a while, so I'm not going to rush them for the end, sadly.

Well, I've finished my entry now, so here are the final pics of my Blood Ravens Centurion Devastator Squad:

I really enjoyed painting these guys. It was nice to paint some loyalist Space Marine models that weren't Dark Angels for a change. Many people don't like the Centurion models, but I think they are cool. They definitely qualify as Heavy Metal, as the suits look very sturdy and strong.

As I said earlier, I'm liking everyone's entries so far, so as usual it should be hard to decide who to vote for! Feel free to vote for my pics in the Dakka Gallery even if you don't vote for them in the challenge voting thread.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Right! After about 2 years of it sitting on my shelf staring at me accusingly, my stompa is finally painted!

My laptop's dead, so I had to settle for taking, editing and uploading these pics from my phone, hopefully they aren't too bad ...anyway, here's my 5 final pics, there's also a closeup of the belly design in my gallery if anyone wants to have a look

NICE! You got me hyped up to paint my own stompa who's been collecting dust for about 5 years.

5 string base Midget? Or is he missing a string on a regular guitar?

Lol I was wondering when someone would pick up on that, it could be a base (it was almost a 4 string one but managed to squeeze an string in) or I'll just calm Ork waagh power and because Tony Orkommi and the crowd believes it should sound like a regular string guitar it does

Great work KD, the flames look really good, I like the mud in the tyres too, a proper Orky machine

I'm impressed with your Green lens on the arm Zerg, I like you that our adding things like this into your painting repertoire, keep going and trying different things.

Zobo thats pretty epic, hope you got a large amount of satisfaction for finally finishing the beast. The artwork on the belly is damn impressive.

and lloks like some really nice blending on the sword KB

Keep going everyone, a few days left. I'm still waiting on a base for my guy, not sure its going to turn up in time >_<

My finished pics.

I entered this guy into the monthly painting competition at my local Games Workshop, and didn't do very well. I think I came last with zero votes, actually. A partial reason for this could be that the store staff accidentally put it on a different shelf to all the other entries, so no-one knew it was in the competition!

Finished!

Tried a few new things this time. This is the first time I'd used an airbrush. Only used it for the initial basecoat - need to practice more! I also tried weathering pigments for the first time. Man those things are messy. And apparently are never really fixed/set, regardless of what you do. So that'll be fun when using it in a game!

I was also dealing with the crappy assembly job I made of this 25 years ago - but it was too secure to take apart.

So that's all the excuses out of the way, here it is:

There are loads of great entries this month - great work everyone! Looking forward to final voting.

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts

My Blog - mostly 40k, some HeroQuest

Thanks!

Spoiler:
It's not chaos, it's from the Dark Angels Deathwing. I guess it looks battered enough to be a chaos dread. Some would consider the Dark Angels to be traitors actually...

Thanks, MG! It's hardly the first time I've painted lenses, but I feel like I'm starting to get better at them. I do like to try new things, and these painting contests give me the inspiration and drive to do just that.

I know last year it was an open category. Given the fact that everyone’s December is normally a hot mess of scheduling conflicts and events, the idea that a “paint whatever” approach would make it a lot easier to actually get people to enter.

Not sure if Para is going to continue that this year though...

' Open cat' would suit me beautfully as I've got something special planned to paint for Decemeber.

Blood Bowl!

I tell you what, don't those orks fit together exceptionally well? I put together my whole team in about an hour and a half, including sorting the mould lines (of which there were very few.)

As for next month, whatever the theme, I doubt I'll be able to do anything particularly big or spectacular, looking at how much painting time I'm going to have.

Edit - thanks for the kind comment, Elbows.

Really good paint job there feltmonkey, the battle damage/scratches look brilliant.

Tackeling projects from the past is always a good way to see how far you have come, nice work Whittlesey40k the repair you did blends in seamlessly

Those Bloodbowl Ork look very interesting, I wonder if I could convert them into........ /drifts off in thought.

I'm hoping for an open category in Dec, prob wont be to do as grand as entry I would have liked but still have a few interesting ideas I would do

They do go together very nicely.
