Hey Folks , Just a little update a bout a new project ..

Some folks may remember I wrote a short story a while back about a Mutant born on Praxus who was subsequently hunted by the female chief judge Lyons and the noble 9th cavalry regiment . Well I thought I would revisit this story for my latest project . Over the prevailing years the mutant Seith has become a very powerful cult leader in the wilds of Praxus . Now Known as the Dark lord and his cult of the creeping shadow His reign of terror on the itinerant Praxian nomads the "Unknown" is at its end Finally found by the chief Judge Lyons , She has informed her superiors within the Dalthan Capital Arbitratory .. Who have Ordered a Arbite Purgation squad be formed under the remit of the Ordo Hereticus to cleanse the Foul Beast Once and for all.

The inspiration came from the artwork of Dave Gallagher from the Inquisitor rulebook . which was one of the Character cards Vendrake won at the June Inqvitational .

Wow! What is the base model for that!? Looks like Rackham? Either way that model oozes badassery, and you really managed to transfer the feel of the artwork into the mini. Nice!

Hey vit , its the forge world sorcerer sayle . its a great model I picked it up for the chaos beast that came with it for the ygg board illium. But I think it's perfect for the dark lord . still lots to add not sure if I should add the hands inside the fists ?

I'm not sure about the hands tbh. It certainly doesn't need it at the moment, and i think power fists work just fine. The hands inside the fists take away from his 'power' imo, makes him seem more human and less threatening.

Using Sayle as the base model works perfectly. The horns round his head are such a good match to the picture.

I think the right power fist arms needs to be bent at the elbow. Currently it makes me think of John Travvolta. I think adding two bolt pistols along the edges of the power fists is necessary too. But rather than use those power fists I think the claws from one of these would look better

I disagree with Vit. Having his arms within the power fist would make him look more human which in this case I think emphasises the point...that he is only human with excellent equipment. He would still be threatening. I imagine it would be difficult to get the hands into the power fist and show them off.

Have you started painting/finished the Admiral yet?

Glad to see a new conversion up here, I'd noticed that forgeworld model before, nice parts. I think the head might be too high up judging from where the shoulders are but can't tell exactly, and he looks like quite a narrow guy anyway.

Two powerfists looks great, of course it suffers from the same problem as my guys with two chainsaws for hands - the occasionally fatal itchy nose conundrum.

@Bruticus Yeah the head is tricksy , its quite small and disparagers nearly completely into that hollow , , will see what i can do about that.

I think you have the head seated perfectly now, maybe it was just the angle of the shot before but it looked too high up.

So these new things look interesting but we're really going to need better photos. I simply have to demand a few more photos of that flying thing with the feathered wings (spent a while there trying to think how to describe it). The fat one with something hanging from it's head. It looks amazing. (E: ah it's a cockatrice torso and wings, finally figured it out)

Those are the feet from fiends of slaanesh right? I noticed that those would make for some interesting conversions.

Personally I am not keen on anyone riding giant wolves, it's just not an idea I am into. Although I suppose it works in Princess Mononoke. Mainly I think it looks ridiculous when space marines do it.

Terrific work, Neil! You've got so much going on, man, that's great.
Peter's comments on the chaos guy were spot-on and it looks so much better with the new claws.
Also kudos for translating that artwork into miniature reality, it's one of the really iconic ones.

Hmm I'm spotting a pattern here...I have a break from Dakka and neil starts showing cool work again...I'm off for a year neil - anything on my threads will just be the grots keeping it alive

@ bruticus glad you like the harpies , but sorry to hear you don't like my wolf rider I saw this painting a while back when I was writing the story of Che - Valrick ( whose head I have now lost to the old gaptoothed floorboard monster )

@ Baiyuan Hey big B , hope your well mate , yeah Pete is always right , when it comes to converting isn't he , ( don't tell him i said that though ) not sure on the dark lord any more tbh , i might give it a miss and use him for something else, I ha d kinda envisioned him on a old corrupted stag , but i couldn't find the right model tbh. also i seemed to be trying for a near copy but really i would need to start that form scratch for that to work wouldn't I ? not that i was scared of buggering up such a classic image no not that at all

i made a bit of scenery for the game , which was built and painted in one evening .. so the basing is a bit meh, but I did the job. I painted the Harpie family in blue as tribute to the late great great Ray Harryhausen harpies in the Jason and the Argonauts flick., the metal rods are a bit of genius if i say so myself , I couldn't find anything slim and string enough to hold the bigger harpies up. but then i grabbed a spare bit of railway track , it was light and strong and didn't bend easily perfect ! quick and dirty paint job later an the game was on ..

Been a while Neil, stuff is looking great! what a monster maker you are!

Those Harpies look fantastic! Are you playing 40K with them? Or Inquisitor 28mm?

@ Aye up Izanagi , good question , but neither actually , Pete and tim sorted out the skirmish rules, with panache, they included mordehiem 40k and probably loads of other rules books , you should really ask Pete , he is far better at that stuff than I , It was a pleasure to see it actually , darting back and forth in-between books to get something that fitted. I recall Pete using necromunda at one point for the falling rule as it did more damage , when i dropped a dodderman on his clan. explosions and guffaws followed.

I rarely log in... but i thought those harpies are some of the most original things i've seen in a while just had to say something. Cool beans!

I really like the contrast of the harpy skin tone with the bright red/orange hair. Not gonna lie, they sort of creep me out though.

Neil! I have not been here in a while, and I apologize. I've already been singing your praises on Peter's Yggdrasillium thread, but your freaking gang is wicked good!

The subdued colors on the gang look subtly... mouldy... and that Curator (is he the leader?) floating is just plain nasty looking. The flowing scrolls/cloth/parchments look great - really has a feeling of Inquisitor straight out of a Blanche illustration. Kudos!

spider hunting for the Raytur.. he knows things .. treasured things .. he gives the savvy with the bone witch , so we stays for now. The Arkkmene came with at globe glow.. he dint spake.. so we dint tell.
The brute bashed the spook .. got off his chain it did , killed a yearling it did.. we dint see fresh. Jus black time was all messy. One eye open at black time.. we still stays for now...

Bone witch gives us the savvy.. none spider caught for much black time.. says its the touts , they got new tek from the dorikal.. at last grim trail..

the fat ones laughs .. he ate most .. fat one dint spake tho , jus laughs..he ates the most though..jus laughing and choking as spider legs crunch in his fat cakeoile.

The Raytur gave the savvy too.. we lefting at black time to the grim trail.. off to see the Dorikal.. arkkmene jus wants new tek..

and the fat one laughed agin so I kicks him, and he cried.
