I've just gotten a bunch of nice scenic resin bases from a guy making them interstate, and am planning to build a couple of new smallish Combat Patrol forces using them. I haven't really done a lot with this sort of thing before, so I have a couple of questions for the more experienced modellers out there:
Ok, with Metal models, it's a no-brainer - superglue.
What about gluing down Plastic figures to resin bases? Plastic cement, or stick with the superglue?
Is it worth pinning figures to their bases, or will the glue work well enough by itself? I ask as the bases are variously detailed, some are flat-surfaced, so it'll be a standard glue bond, but some are less flat and more rough/rocky/etc.
Any advice welcomed.
cheers,
scipio

Stick with the superglue.  Metal models you'll want to pin, but plastic models won't need it.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair.

Meh, I'd pin it for durability. Plastic and resin should be a breeze to drill compared to metal. As for the glue, stick with the superglue.

Depends on the resin. I've broken drill bits on hard resin before.  Personally, while I like the soft resin that FW uses, I despise the harder, heavier stuff that most other companies use.  Sure it's sturdy and will last when dropped to the floor, but it's a real pain in the ass to work with sometimes.  This is why I don't buy resin bases even though some of them look really sweet.

a couple of quick notes. If you use model glue for plastic models, i find the bond is a little better. The feet of your guys will melt a bit and it'll work. I would definitely pin metal models, and use decent sized pins as well.

I found with the scenic bases, a lot of the time i had to shave enough surface area to get a good contact with the feet.

Oh, and drill / sand resin only in a well ventilated area! that stuff is quite toxic.

You should mount plastic models onto resin bases just as you would with metal models.

Pin the damn things. its not that much extra work and it increases the durability. Then use cyanoacrylate.

If it is a model used to game, you have to do it right the first time. otherwise you will have a model who eeventually has superglue dripping out from every surface because it had to be fixed so many times.
