Subject: Crusade of Fury. (insert your forces into the crusade, for or against)
Captain Julius of the Ultramarines 3rd Company reporting,
Welcome to the Crusade Inquisitor, your assistance in this endeavor is greatly appreciated, and I would recommend meeting with all of the Imperial leaders here so you can get an understanding of what we face here. My brothers and I are going to remain on station near Gailor Prime for a little while longer if you wish to meet with me soon. I look forward to informing you of what is occurring in the Crusade.
Regards,
Captain Julius

My Lord Inquisitor I am glad such a noble agent of the Emperor has joined us in our righteous crusade for the liberation of these worlds from the filth and swine that is chaos and xenos. When we met at the Lord General’s summit I could tell you were truly wise. I would be honored to call you an ally and would gladly assist you in any capacity you may require to purge any threats you may find to our crusade, from threats both exterior and interior.
May you speak forever true for our most holy God Emperor

Lord Captain Fairfax stood again in the meeting room, this morning it was filled with his various personal staff, Edward, the Histans, and a smaller group of representatives from the Reforged Sovereign's own regiment.
Fairfax looked faintly irritated at the buzzing and fussing of his attendants, and Edward recognised the ticking of a mind about to let loose with something less than respectable.
Coughing quietly, the Seneschal gestured to the various seats around the table, "Please."
Captain Dekkal sat down beside the black cloud that was the already-seated Commissar Selka, and smiling, gestured for the Histan troops to sit alongside them.
The Commissar muttered, his lips barely moving, and Dekkal turned his head, visibly irked, "Then leave, you miserable f-"
"Gentlemen. Please." with a snap of his fingers, Fairfax dismissed the aides, bar one augmented scribe, and fixed a polite but piercing stare at both Dekkal and Selka.
The Captain lowered his eyes sheepishly, a younger man, he didn't yet have the experience to hold his own against the Lord Captain, despite knowing that the man would always listen and take his opinion on board. Beside him, Selka remained silent, but nodded in concession.
"I am Lord Captain Reynard Fairfax, this is Seneschal Edward Fairfax, Captain Dekkal and Comissar Selka. The Reforged Sovereign welcomes you, Histan guardsmen. Do you have a representative?" Fairfax turned to the section of the table that housed the Histans, "All are welcome to speak here, but often it is easier to coordinate your thoughts if you have a single mouth, or so." he smiled warmly.
Two men from the group stood up, exchanging glances. The first spoke, a neatly dressed man with a distinguishing scar across one cheek, "I am Corporal Falkon," he gestured to the young man beside him, a contrast with his pale hair and neat beard, "Trooper Lars here, and I will represent as well. He's the most used to speaking concisely."
"Then we recognise you, Trooper Lars and Corporal Falkon," Fairfax nodded, "I trust you found your overnight stay reasonable."
"Better digs than we're afforded usually," Lars grinned, "and breakfast! We were made to feel most welcome, Lord Captain."
Fairfax concealed the fact he was taken aback, and turned backward to look at Edward, who was taking great interest in his dataslate. He coughed, causing the seneschal to look up, finally.
I said to keep them in the airlock. he mouthed.
I know. Edward mouthed back.
You're a terrible seneschal. Fairfax raised one gloved hand to his face in frustration at his brother.
I know. But their Imperial IDs checked out. Fairfax grit his teeth. Where did you actually put them- "Is there a problem, Lord Captain?" Lars asked with slight concern.
Fairfax's annoyance was shed lightly, and he turned back, "It seems you have our considerate Seneschal to thank for your overnight hospitality, I had incorrectly assessed you as a security threat."
"...It is my understanding that a Seneschal's knowledge of the security of his vessel, is second only to those who built it, Lord Captain." Corporal Falkon replied diplomatically.
"Fairfax will suffice, Corporal. You are after all, my guests here." the Lord Captain was suitably mollified. He had very little personal pride, but understood the importance of a good front, "Now tell me, what is it that we can assist you with most immediately?"
"Ideally we wish to be reunited with our regiment, though a planetary drop off near enough to secure transport over would be more than we could ask for." Lars cast a look over his group, and they nodded in agreement.
"If the rough coordinates we collected from the remains of your ship, and the details you provided are true indication of your original destination, either option would be entirely within our capabilities," Edward spoke clearly from behind Fairfax, "however it is worth considering that Rogue Traders such as Lord Captain Fairfax are not a part of the Astra Militarum, and stand to incur personal loss or penalty from getting involved with military campaigns- Commissar Salka, you will leave, or you will close your mouth whilst I am speaking. Your opportunity to speak will be given as equal respect as anyone here, but mutter one more time and you will be denied it entirely. Is that understood?" Edward had not turned his gaze away from Corporal Falkon.
The commissar lowered his eyes beneath his peaked cap, grit his teeth, and gave the smallest of nods. The dog was muzzled, and forbidden even to growl.
Choosing not to look sideways, the corporal swallowed, ignoring the white hot indignation radiating from nearby, and spoke to both Fairfax and Edward, "We are aware, sirs. It's not impossible that your contribution would be rewarded, and most certainly appreciated. It would not go unnoticed by the right people, we would be sure of it."
Fairfax nodded, "Understood, Corporal. Do not think us mercenary, it is simply that if we suffer loss, we are not funded or repaired by any greater organisation. Plus," he raised a hand, indicating the wider ship, "posturing aside, this ship houses our family, much like your regiment is considered your own."
Lars ventured, "The command of the crusade could likely provide you with some financial security, were you to aid against the Xenos threat-"
"Xenos?"
"Commissar Selka-" Edward fixed the man with a glare that would have silenced near anyone else.
"You rough-edge flotsam never mentioned the fething xenos," the commissar's full attention was now fixed on the standing pair of Histans, before turning to Fairfax and Edward, "and you lace-collared dandies never mentioned it either. Of course we're on board, Corporal, and anything we can offer by way of assistance-"
Fairfax snapped his fingers again, and the commissar fell silent, his ice blue eyes alive with intrigue for the first time since the meeting began.
"I believe our seneschal requested you keep your tongue in check, Commissar. Do not expect me to repeat the request." Fairfax, like his brother addressed Selka without looking at him. It was the only way to avoid being dragged into an argument; To argue with Selka was to lose before you began. Turning to fully face the Histans once more, Fairfax concealed his cat-like grin beneath a calm exterior. He'd known the miserable bastard couldn't resist a good fight, but leading him to it himself would never have worked. "We will return you to your regiment, and the weapons and supplies we recovered alongside. We would usually see keeping those as fair recompense, but clearly this would be a disadvantage to your men, and hinder ongoing goodwill between us all."
Falkon raised an eyebrow, if this was good will, he wondered how the commissar acted toward people he actively disliked.
Fairfax smiled, catching the slight movement, "Please, Corporal, tell us what you are able and permitted to, concerning what we may face upon arrival." he sat, offering the floor fully to the pair.
Nagana's voice could have physically dropped with venom, as she sneered at the Necron sculpture. Mathematically, it was a perfect design: encapsulating the myriad icons of Chaos, and the spiked skull emblem of The Flayed Legion itself. Worlds would have quaked to see it, and armies would have fled at the sight of its cruel metal.
A'khel paced around it slowly, his shining third eye assessing every angle. “It is hollow. Shapes without meaning. There is no power within it.”
Medraut, clad in his bladed armor, spat acidic bile at the deck, and gestured rudely towards the metal statue. “It should never have been allowed into our sight! The stick-men send us this, and then ask to be blessed with our presence! Bring in the Cataclysm, that will serve as our response!”
”There will be no need.” Nagan's voice snapped from vitriol to soothing in a heartbeat, in a simple move to gain control of the errant champion. ”A stern envoy will suffice, with armed guard. I should-”
“I will speak with the machines.” The voice boomed from the dark corner behind the sculpture, and reverberated through the deck. Tyre, favored champion of the Flayed Lord, stepped forward. The bone-white helm of his Terminator armor obscured his face, but all eyes went to the red gash painted over his helmet's left eye. It was a symbol of his loyalty, his dedication, and to some, his insanity.”Four of the Bloodborn will accompany me.”
None of them spoke against him. One day one of them would challenge him for his position, but for today his strength and loyalty would suffice for authority. Nagana nodded first, ever the snake, and drifted back into the shadows. At her relenting, the others lowered their heads, even fractionally, before the towering Terminator. Medraut sneered, turning towards the hatch, and cast a disparaging look back at the sculpture. “And what of this...icon?”
Nagana sneered, casting the twisted metal a scalding glare. “It is an insult. We should melt it down, cast a torpedo from it.”
Tyre's voice boomed out from within his helmet, drowning out dissension and crushing any argument. “Return it. They are machines. No souls to understand.”
A'khel shook his head as he swept his three eyes over the metal of sculpture, before resting his hand on the ancient tome at his belt.
“We will defile it. Properly. Then we will return it.”
* * * *
The twisted Thunderhawk rolled lazily through space, leaving the Legion fleet behind, and cutting a path through the stars towards the world below. On board, five Terminators stood in perfect stillness, anchored in place by the sheer weight of their armor and their absolute dedication to their Lord. They were chosen well: the strongest of the Bloodborn in will as well as body. The Legion seldom dealt in diplomacy, and to do so now would require the utmost restraint.
Behind them, filling the back of the Thunderhawk, was the Necron sculpture: covered in arcane writing, the blood and bile of a dozen cultists, and perforated with gunfire from unholy bolters.
Spoiler:
Merry Christmas from The Flayed Legion!

War Kitten- Nothing evens the odds like a reaper chainsword to the naughty bits
Sgt. Vanden- And now I'm a whale with panties. Can't see how this day can get any better.
In Hennards 200+ years of service to the Emperor he had seen many great and terrible things. It took almost a miracle to move him, yet his first visitor from the crusade gave him some ever slight excitement. The Black Templars were first to welcome him as an envoy and they knew exactly who to send for a Puritan Inquisitor. Hennard wore his usual artificer armor, none living had seen him outside of it bear a few medical personal. Most of his body was slowly being replaced with arguments through the years. Though he refused to have any augments of the brain, for to lose the brain was to lose yourself to the emperor. His robe across his shoulders was a dark blue trimmed in bright gold. His left shoulder a pauldron of deep black with silver trim and the inquisitorial I marked in red. His right shoulder guard a dark red outlined in bright blue. His own personal heraldry. His chest was intricate with the two headed Aquila. He carried no weapons but brought his two aides. Irmo the large bald headed priest and Sandhill the small skinny human scribe. Each wore a robe of dark blue and carried no weapons.
Chaplain Vargos entered the meeting room, shining perfect black power armor glistened against the dull ship lights. His greatsword strapped his back, instead of the usual croxius. Odd for a chaplain indeed. His right hip carried his bolt pistol. Hennard crossed his arms of the Aquila and Vargos returned the same.
"Welcome Inquisition, I am Chaplain Vargos of the Black Templars. The High Marshal sends his regards"
"Well met Templar, it is an honor to be in the presence of a holy man and a true decedent of the Emperor"Hennards replied. To him space marines were grandsons of the Emperor through his true sons the Primarchs. "I know your brothers well and will not waste your time. I am but a servant of The Holy. Reviewing your records you have shown to stay true to your roots. You've denounced all Xenos and psykers while purging the land of orks. How may I help progress this crusade with your forces?"
"Thank you Inqusitor for the kind words, but we will not take on debt or favors to the Inqusition. While I do not doubt your intentions, those who have become before you have soured our taste for the Inqusition. We will not be your lap dog" Vargos did his best to keep his voice friendly and not threatening.
"Ah I wondered why you came to a simple meeting armed for battle. This makes sense, but you misread my actions Astartes. I am not hear to lead unless asked or my forces go in alone. I am the Emperors eyes, ears and voice when needed."
"So you are sent to baby sit and tattle back to Terra human? We Black Templars adhere to all of Dorns teaching and have shown through history to be the Emperors greatest champion. You will find nothing here Inqusition. Vargos sneered. He was getting annoyed.
"Haha fear not. Your record so far is impressive and clean upon surface inspection. Your petty squabbles with the Ultramarines and guard seem to be diverting more attention than the true enemy though, but that is not why I was sent. But please Templar let us not pretend you follow all of Dorn's teachings, even you bend the rules to your own need."
"How dare you, what would you question? I can recite all of his teachings. Which do you speak of?" Vargos rubbed his hands together. Ready to dive into the argument.
Hennard laughed. "I mean no offense, I only speak of your higher than normal amount of Astartes you have. Please, we know the Templars keep more than one thousand Marines. You may be spread out but we have eyes everywhere. In time we shall address this but not today. If you ever need help in this crusade though. Please only ask, I wish to help those who follow the Emperor as closely as I do"
Vargos sighed " I will let the Lord Karak know Inquisition"
"Thank you Chaplain, would you mind leading me in prayer before we depart?"
Vargos was taken aback. No one on this crusade had truly seemed to care about their souls until now. He could not turn down the man. "As you wish human, let us kneel....."

Julius strode through the corridors like a man on a mission and, in a way, he was. He and his brothers had volunteered to aid the Histans after the misfortune they had suffered in the opening stages of their involvement in the Crusade. The Histans had fought with courage and honor, they did not deserve to have their pleas for aid ignored, so Julius and his brothers had unanimously decided to offer the Guardsmen their aid. The Ultramarines would fight alongside those noble souls, but first Julius had to find Colonel Detta who was leading the Histans into battle. There! Julius spotted the Colonel walking down the corridor a little bit ahead of him, from his body language Julius could tell that the man was lost deep in thought. Understandable given that some of his men were still fighting for their lives in the medicae bays scattered throughout the fleet. Julius removed his helmet and maglocked it to his thigh before he jogged after the Colonel, "Colonel Detta?" he said softly, being careful to not scare the man. The Colonel trned around when he heard his name and when he spotted the approaching Marine his eyes widened imperceptibly, but unlike most Imperial citizens he didn't seem to be afraid of him. The Colonel nodded at him and said "Captain Julius, it is an honor to meet you" Julius inclined his head in thanks and replied "Likewise Colonel." Detta turned to face Julius and gave him his full attention, feeling that something major was about to occur, "I'll be brief Colonel" Julius said "As you heard at the meeting my brothers and I would like to offer aid to you and your men in this Crusade." Detta nodded "I heard that indeed Captain, and I thank you for your willingness to aid me and my men in our time of need." "There is more" Julius said after a brief second "I have put in a request to Crusade Command for our two forces to deploy together next time we are sent out to war, and to facilitate a strong bond between our forces I would like to offer you and your men a chance to train with my brothers and have your quarters on board the Battle Barge my Chapter dispatched with me. I noticed that many of your own troop vessels are badly damaged, and 'Honor' has plenty of cots available for you and your men should you be willing." Detta couldn't speak for a moment. Most men went their entire lives without ever seeing a Space Marine, and now he and his men were being offered the chance to fight alongside them and train with them? He could hardly believe it. He was aware that his reaction to Julius wasn't a common one. Most Imperial citizens held Marines in a sort of terrified reverence, seeing them as avenging angels of the Emperor. Detta was different; however, for although he held great respect for the Astartes, he was aware that they were just flesh and blood like him. They were stronger, tougher, and faster, but at the end of the day they were flesh and blood like him. His confusion must have shown on his face because Julius chuckled softly and said "There's no need to decide here and now Colonel, I would like for you to bring my offer back to your men and see what they think about it. When you have come to a decision please send for my adjutant Sergeant Salonius." After that Julius walked off towards the section of this place reserved for him and his brothers. Detta stood there in the corridor for another moment before striding off towards his own quarters. He had a fair bit to think about.
Spoiler:
Since Julius offered aid to the Histans I figure I'd post up this little blurb. How will 2BJ1 respond? I don't know yet! I just hope I depicted his Colonel correctly.

Magos Harethion was standing and admiring a pair of Kastelan robots as Enginseer Lyra approached, "Magos I bring the report for you to examine." He did not turn to face her and instead affirmed his approval with a short burst of static. "All Imperial forces in the sector seem to be in slight disarray. It was a confrontational meeting that included multiple xenos." Harethion turned to view Lyra, "Can you confirm Xenos were guests at the meeting?" The Enginseer nodded, "Can confirm three Xenos at the meeting. Two with an Inquisitor. One transported aboard and was dispatched quickly." Harethion exhaled a short burst of static praising the Omnissiah before begining to leave the room. "And what of our goal. Did you receive any word of that?" Lyra was following Harethion before he made it two steps, "No. There is however a forge that was liberated by the guard." There was a brief pause in the Magos step as he deliberated the matter. "Alert the fleet with the coordinates. We move at once. Broadcast to the guard that we are on our way."
Spoiler:
Not sure who is running the Cadians as I can't seem to find the post, but if you could shoot me a PM that would be great!
As the fleet got underway a single light cruiser split from them and went in a separate direction. The tech priest aboard keyed the commands for broadcasting over a secure channel back to the main fleet, "Fernil dispatched. Destination received. Coordinates confirmed. May the Omnissiah guide us."
"The crusade's been hit hard, I won't lie. There's bound to be a welcoming party of something. Almost entirely xenos" Falkon said, while shooting a glance at the commisar.
"You still haven't said what it is you're fighting" Fairfax pointed out.
"Well, let's see. The crusade dealt with orks, and lots of them. A lot of their big baddies are killed though, but not all of them. Then you have reports of metallic horrors, who have something going on in the galactic North-East quadrant. Those aren't what bothers me though. They aren't what caused the Knife of Hista, the ship we were on, to get destroyed, along with countless soldiers who weren't fortunate to have escaped like we did." Falkon continued.
"What did then? We can't help you if you won't tell us what's out there, and the generous lord captain seems to realize this." Selka snapped before shutting his mouth at Edward's command.
Lars spoke up, "I'm not quite sure what they were. Like those monsters, the tyranids, but different, they were. I can't describe what they were like exactly, nor would I want to if I could. What I do know is that the main generators of the Knife were detonated to take out as many of them as they could."
"Tyranids. Then you lads will need us more than ever. I say we set our cour-" Again, the commisar was silenced at the word of Edward. He may have bad his voice taken away once more, but it didn't stop him from glaring at the two brothers while they continued their conversation with the Histans.
"What I can say is that the crusade needs as many man as it can take to push these scuttlers back, along with whatever else the xenos throw at us. If you get us there, I guarantee a weapons dealer could only make a profit." Falkon pitched in, hoping to distract Lars from the horrors he had seen, and to get the discussion back on topic.
Edward grinned, "Again, we aren't mercenary, but I do see the benefits of our arrival. Supplies are always short in stock when you need them most, it seems."
"Splendid. So, when will we arrive, do you think? I'm itching to see some of my comrades, and my brewvikk supply is running low." Lars said.

''Haven't heard of them, I'll check Imperial records once we get back on our ship, see who I've made an enemy of, by the looks of it, I'd say they're descendants of Dorn, like the Templar, so we might've alienated all those nice folks'' answered Gallus
''What about the link with Crusade command?''
''You'll be staying here, I'll send support crews once we're back, you're the best diplomat we have on board, after all, Riley!''
''Sir!''
''You'll be in charge of training our last bunch of rescues, drill e'm hard, I will be planetside, we'll try and avoid to isolate so much from fellow forces this time''
''Anything else?'' asked Riley
''We won't leave until we have orders, perhaps some insight on what's to come for the Crusade, hopefully they will come shortly, in the meanwhile, I think we better keep quiet, for now, we haven't made lots of friends today''
The Temepstor Secundus both nodded and the small group of Scion moved on to the mess hall, where they grabbed a bite. The mess was pretty much empty and only a man or two shot them a glance when they entered.
Havishan Minor a decrypted old world nearing the end of its long life. It was rumored by the Orks that Havishan was where the Arch Arsonist began his empire and that this world hosted great battles between the WAAAGH and the forces of the Imperium, but that was long ago. Now the world has nothing to offer anyone save death. The planet’s only sentient populace is the orks who are constantly fighting petty klan wars over what little resources the planet has. The orks are the only resource that Havishan Minor seems to have in excess, a resource Big Mek Nox Warprida plans to make use of.
A convoy of miscellaneously camouflaged ork trukks and buggies roared through the desert that was once a seemingly bottomless ocean. Behind the dozen speeding rides was a mob of red painted bikes and battle wagons. Korporal Ronin a Blood Axe Nob and commander of Sky Destroyers Storm Boy mob sat in the rear Trukk. The Nob kept his head down attempting to avoid fire from the Evil Sunz that chased after them. Jugga the trukk’s gunner was shot and killed when an Evil Sun Buggy got too close. Ronin growled and ejected the dead gunner from the vehicle, forcing one of the red pursuers to swerve to avoid hitting the dead weight. Ronin took up the big Shoota and let loose. The Nob hit a biker, that biker swerved into another causing a jeep like contraption to swerve and crash into a rock formation causing the crude vehicle to explode. The convoy entered a canyon and the pursuers broke off. The Nob shouted to the fleeing orks “Tell Boss ZurkGob I said he could shove it up his zoggin arse.”
The Orks came out of the canyon and rode for a while until they came to the place they knew as Da Big Dunes, on account as it was home to massive sand dunes.
The orks disembarked and began setting up yet another temporary camp, one they would hopefully abandon by choice not necessity. Ronin set down his Rokkit Pack, it was emptied to fuel the trukks, and as the Evil sunz controlled all the promethium pumps it was unlikely it would get filled any time soon. Ronin sat down on the the dune’s slope the orks desert camouflaged trousers filling with sand. The pale green nob removed his olive green flat cap and examined the silver blood axe insignia. The badge once meant he was to be feared and respected now he might as well be wearing a sign that said shoot me in the back of the head.
Ronin looked to the sky and saw something. Ronin thought it was another meteor shower but this one looked different. The Nob called out “Ticz get me ma binoculars.” The ork ran to the nob and brought the rusted binoculars to the ork. The image became clear dozens upon dozens of Roks came falling from the heavens. Ronin had heard about these crude drop pods only from legend. The pods made their thunderous touch down not far from the blood axe encampment. So the orks ran to greet their new visitors. Ronin saw the huge rock open and a ramp make contact with the planet’s sandy surface. Then a single massive ork atop great red bike came forth. Ronin had never seen anything so impressive before. The Biker turned his gaze to Ronin and rode to him.
The ork spoke “Oi you, who’s da boss of yer klan.” Ronin spoke “I suppose dats me technically.” The ork looked the Nob over “You don’t look like a right proper klan boss if I might say so. How did some one like you end up being in charge.”
Ronnin spoke thinking about how the last two months unfolded. “It all started with dat git ZurkGob Da self proclaimed “Red Skorpion of da Black Sands”. ZurkGob waz some nobody evil sunz warboss. Git had a shiny bike and a few ladz under his command nobody gave him a second thought. Dat all changed when he started taking over Bad Moon Promethium pipes. He started taking em one by one until he eventually owned every zoggin relay pump on da planet. Since he owned all da gas eventually more speed freaks flocked to his banner. Wif his new army he brought all da other klanz in line, Da Bad Moonz, Deff Skullz, Snake Bites, even da Goffs. But not us Blood Axes, Boss BadBone refused to bow to da git. Three dayz ago ZurkGob put a blade trough BadBone’s face at our base and all us Blood Axes have been on da run.”
The biker spoke “So dis Red Skorpion has all da klanz of dis world already under his control.” “yup” The Biker smiled “Dis iz going to be right easy.” Ronnin spoke “Who are you.” The biker’s grin grew wicked “Names Nox, Nox WarpRida.”

A board the Battle barge Honour Marshall Karak waited by one of the vast windows looking out upon the void of space at the many ships gathered around the ruins of gallor prime, the dead planets husk below stripped of all life during the battle it was a glassy dead world of ice, rock and dust, was such a place worth is cost in blood, such thoughts where put aside as Captain Julius and Acting-Captain Aurelius entered clad in shining blue plate, gleaming and perfectly maintained. "Brothers welcome, i will answer all questions in due course" Exchanging salutes, "Yes Marshall you where rather cryptic i must say, but in the short time ive come to trust you so here i am" "very good, you will be pleased, and Acting-Captain Aurelius will find this most interesting of all" "Aye Karak, ive come to regard you a brother and a friend over the course of this crusade even if it took a damn strike cruiser falling from orbit. " "aye, you have been talking to Vargos, The treason why i asked you here. This data slate should tell you why, Eyes only, Keep it secret"
Reading the data slate was a revelation, evidence of the link to pavus in the attack on lord general, a suspect in Pavus's own captains, Links to the man himself, Evidence and codes. "Feth, So this Captain, is in Pavus own senior circle and linked to attack on lord general, a attack by xeno mercenaries no less, all this from one man who was caught as a assassin. Damn" Karak looked at the acting captain, "i thought you might like that one, One linked to the scum who nearly killed you, don't worry if we can pull it off that ones head is yours" "Better be, that fething traitor owes me one" growled Acting-Captain Aurelius. " "So this is why you faked your own death Brother, now i understand deeper this runs to the very heart of your unity, damn, all because of of one mans ego he was so undone, you can count on our support when the time comes Marshall"

Nox rode rapidly through the barren wastes of Havishan. The cruel sun beating down on him and those who followed him. The Horde of Bikers was impressive, da ladz of Anorky, Nox’s personal honor guard, the fastest and killyest orks that Nox commanded. His WAAAGH began with the ladz of Anorky, fitting it should be these orks who help him claim this world. With the hundred ork horde of bikers rode the battered forty-seven blood axes, eager to avenge their fallen boss. The Doof and his kustom battle wagon rode along with the horde, playing his enchanting war tunes atop the speeding vehicle. Nox leading the pack was forced to restrain himself. While his followers all rode at top speed Nox was barely at half.
The party rode through the dunes and through the forgotten sea, until they reached the domain of the so called Skorpion. The Black Sands, a region where hundreds of Promethium pumps littered the ground all slurping that desperately needed black stuff from below.
Ronin shouted out “Dere it iz Da Skorpionz Den.” The Fort was simple but simplicity could still be deadly. A red neon sign glowed atop the fort that read Da Skorpion’z Den and depicted a ready to sting scorpion. The defenses came on and Evil Sun heavy weapon teams raced to get to their stations. Big Shootas, Dakka Guns, Deff Kannons, Mortars, all of these and more were fired at the approaching horde, and not one made it through Nox’s Kustom Force field. Nox spoke into his crude communication ear piece “Doof hit da gate.”
The Shaman grinned and changed up the tune he was playing. Soon after a few fast and heavy notes a great green fist of Gork appeared outside the steel gate. The first blow dented the door inward, the second hit destroyed all but one hinge, the final blow sent the door flying in to the base crushing several unlucky evil sunz.
The Orks cheered and WAAAGHd as they rode through the busted down gate. The Evil Sunz that defended the base were no match for eliete horde of Bikers. Some mounted their own bikes, but none defended successfully.
The orks blew through the weak defenses and stormed into the keep, where ZurkGob awaited them. The throne room was impressive. Heads of slain warbosses were elegantly mounted atop the wall among them was the former Blood Axe Boss BadBone. At the end of the hall atop a stone staircase sat Da Red Skorpion. The ork’s war bike was integrated into the throne. From above the war lord shouted “Who da Zog do you thin you are, rolling up in here like you own da place. I don’t fink you realize who yer messing with.” Ronin shouted “Yeah he knows, yer Zurk-Git supreme fat ass of da Evil Sunz.” The war boss growled “Ahh I thought you Blood Axes were all dead already. Don’t matter none yer all gonna be in a minute. But you on da snazzy bike. WHO DO YOU FINK YOU ARE!” Nox grinned “Names Nox WarpRida and I’m da new over fiend of Havishan Minor.” The Evil Sun shouted “Dere iz only one over Fiend on Havishan and Dats me. ZurkGob Da Great Red Skorpion of da…” The Doof interrupted him “Enough of all dis zoggin talking kill him boss.”
Nox revved his engine and sped towards his foe. ZurkGob dethatched his bike from his throne and did the same. The two drew near and clashed blades. The force of the hit knocked both riders free from their mounts. Nox charged his rival with his glaive while the Evil Sun Lord wielded a set of tri blade gauntlets that jetted forth from his wrist. The two exchanged blows and the orks locked weapons. ZurkGob Snarled as he pressed against the orks polearm “After I kill you I’m gonna scrap yer ride for bitz.” Nox countered by spiting in the skorpion’s open mouth. With the but of his Glaive Nox struck ZurkGob in the gut winding him. Nox pressed the advantage and ramed the head of his blade into his opponent’s chest. Ronin approached the still living ZurkGob and spoke “Diz ones from BadBone.” The Ork drew his combat knife and rammed it through the face of ZurkGob.
The Battle was over and Nox and his men headed out side to find a sea of thousands of orks gathered outside the keep. By the looks of them they were a well assorted lot. Bad Moons, Goff, Deff Skulls and others. Nox commandeered the dead ZurkGob’s sound system. “Lissen up ZurkGob is dead. I have freed you from the injustice of of being subjected to the rule of such a weak and pathetic overlord. I am Nox champion of Mork, da Warp Rida. Follow me into the stars and I promise to unleash you upon worthy foes. I promise you Loot and Plunder. You can stay here on dis rock and continue to fight yer little klan wars, or you you can set sail with me and show dis Sectah what da fury of da orks looks like. So I only got one question fer you boyz ARE YOU WIF ME!” The crowd of orks let loose with a mighty sound of WAAAGH and cheer.
Nox grinned and the Doof spoke “Wait till dey get a load of us.”

Subject: Crusade of Fury. (insert your forces into the crusade, for or against)
The Histan revelations caused quite a stir of interest in Fairfax's ear. His aides and scribes immediately setting themselves the task of researching how best to prepare. As the Lord Captain agreed to assist them, and offered any services they required, Edward leaned back in his seat and watched patiently.
Reynard was never going to have abandoned the guard to their fate. It wasn't in his nature. But to be too openly generous was to invite a soft reputation. So the compromise was to seem unwilling and allow them to sell their problem to you. Fairfax hid his boyish excitement to be able to assist in some manner, having no love for most Xenos races himself, and a sense of adventure ingrained from a young age.
As the meeting came to an end, the Histans slowly filed out of the hall, along with Captain Dekkal, a thoughtful looking Fairfax, and the scribe accompanying him.
Edward stood alone at the door, and as Commissar Selka made to leave, the seneschal held out an arm and briefly blocked his exit, "A word, please Garth." the door swung shut as the trooper ahead of them released it, leaving them alone in the suddenly silent meeting hall.
"That took some balls, telling me to be quiet back there," the scarred commissar turned to Edward, "you very nearly hurt my feelings."
Edward laughed, "You know I have to do my duty. Besides, if you had feelings, old dog, your face would look less like you ran into a-"
"Don't push it, Eddie," Garth grinned, showing an alarming amount of silver teeth, "now what's this about?"
"Maybe I just enjoy your company." Edward turned his eyes to the impressively high ceiling.
The commissar snorted in amusement, and stepped closer, nudging the seneschal, "Oh? You really must be short of people to talk to."
It was in some part true. As a seneschal, Edward found it hard to speak to many of the Sovereign's occupants as they treated him with fear, suspicion or utter sycophancy. In many ways similar to how guardsmen would react to the average commissar. And yet Selka, for all his faults, spoke to him on the level, and without varnish.
"I'll cut to it: You know that Reynard and I are no tacticians and certainly no war veterans. We need your eyes and ears on this one." Edward held out his open hands as a signal of his honesty.
"What about Dekkal?" Selka smiled wolfishly. He knew the answer, he just wanted to hear it from the well-spoken Seneschal himself. Have him admit to what they all knew.
"You know full well. He's unseasoned, untested, and we both know that our budget plugs the gap where his ass isn't covered." Edward tapped his fingers on the desk irritably.
"Watch that language Seneschal, people will talk." Garth laughed. It was a first in the presence of anyone on board, and not an unwelcome sound, "So you need to pick my scabby old brain to survive this one?" He leaned against the wall, looking thoughtful, "Then I will level too: If I were afforded a little more respect and honesty aboard the ship, I might feel as though my counsel mattered."
"Respect I can certainly help with, but honesty? What do you mean there, Garth?" Edward furrowed his brow.
"Not just me, Ed. All of us; we barely know what the other two ships spend their time doing. The Farthing you always say is our main trade vessel, which is fair, but the Guinea? Half the time I wonder if it's even part of the fleet."
"This is the Lord Captain's business," hissed Edward, his expression strained, "you know the Guinea houses classified individuals and equipment."
"Do you even know who or what? Does he even trust you to know?" Garth narrowed his blue eyes, studying Edward's expression, "No, I don't think he does. And you're not even the one tasked to fight in his name! I lead loyal men for a captain that doesn't trust us with the truth!"
Edward took an involuntary step back, "It's not like that, Garth, it isn't. I promise you." he looked suddenly miserable. A faint buzzing began building in his ears, and he felt increasingly uncertain.
Selka persisted, "Then who rides aboard the Guinea, who provides the intel we act on so often?"
"I can't say."
"Can't or won't?"
"Can't! I don't... I don't know. Reynard will not permit me to know." Edward looked for all the world, lost. Even the commissar felt briefly sympathetic for the man as he struggled to deal with the realisation.
"You're his brother." Garth saw the opening and pressed it slightly.
The seneschal cast his eyes down, as his gut sank, "So he would say. But I'm like you, Garth; a foundling. I was not true Fairfax bloodline. He took me on and had me adopt the family name."
Realising his error, Selka stepped across, rested against the high polished surface of the wooden table, and sat on the edge. He rummaged through his inner pockets and produced a small carved wooden flask, before gesturing to the table beside him, "Sit."
Part amused at being told to sit in his own hall, part relieved at apparently starting to speak civilly with the cantankerous officer, Edward sat close and stared up at the wall. The hideously pompous portraits.
Garth passed the flask over after swigging himself, and Edward drank. He coughed, surprised, "It's mead."
"What keeps me so sweet." the commissar grinned under his hat. Chuckling at the Seneschal's incredulous expression, he explained simply, "Honey is very easy to transport. Keeps forever. Takes up little space."
"I see," Edward handed back the flask, and sighed, "this is a mess. You're right. Before we had even agreed to assist, the Guinea had arrived near the destination and secreted itself to observe."
Garth growled, "So all that posturing was for their benefit, we'd already signed ourselves away?"
"You make it sound so dark." Edward closed his eyes as he spoke.
"It is dark, Edward. This is puppetry. I'm just not sure which is the hand; Fairfax or the unseen associates." the commissar held out an arm in frustration.
Sensing the brewing ill feeling, the seneschal murmured, "You wish to leave?"
The commissar turned to face Edward, his eyes alert, patient, "Of course not. I owe you and Fairfax for the chances you've given me. Given all of us. You've never led us wrong before, nor to their credit, have these mysterious individuals," he drank slowly from the flask, "but that doesn't mean I like it!" he extended his arm again, offering the drink, "And you, you're in the same situation, aren't you. Beholden to the fairest man we'll ever meet."
Edward accepted the flask and drank again, "Unable to resent him without feeling ungrateful and guilted." he felt strange. It was unlikely the alcohol, but something within him felt deeply disturbed, shaken, and yet oddly comforted to be able to speak so freely.
He stood up slowly, and then swayed, disorientated.
"Woah," Selka was on his feet and had caught Edward under the arms before he could stagger backward and harm himself on the table, "I didn't have you pegged for a lightweight."
"It's not that." Edward struggled hard to stand upright, the dizziness taking hold.
Swiftly kicking out a heavy chair from under the table, Selka forced the young man to sit, "Head between your knee-" he barely had time to step clear before the seneschal brought up his breakfast.
"I'm sorry-" Edward panted, before repeating the vivid conversation with the floor tiles several times, -I don't know what's happening." his dark eyes were streaming from the sudden onslaught, and his strength had deserted him entirely.
The commissar laid a hand on his shoulder, "It's okay, duck. I reckon that's shock." with surprising ease, he hauled the taller man to his feet, "one to puzzle out another time. Now, I assume there's a ratway out of here, one that leads toward your room." he supported Edward bodily under one arm, steadying him.
Edward nodded, and gestured to a painting further along the wall. As Garth half-dragged him toward it, he pressed a slight indentation on the gilded frame, and the wall panel swung out silently.
"Lead on, sir." the commissar stepped through, still carrying the woozy seneschal, pausing only to pull the panel back into position.
Outside the room, Corporal Falkon waited against the wall, patiently. Something about the commissar's fervoured hate for the Xenos caused Falkon to wonder if he had also encountered them locally. The man had clearly survived if he had, and first hand knowledge of the enemy was another bullet in the Histan's gun.
After a few long minutes, the corporal checked his chrono, then stood a little closer at the door, considering knocking, and feeling slightly foolish. I'm no schoolboy waiting to see the headmaster, he chided himself, they have been nothing but welcoming. The door was suitably soundproof, but he could hear faint voices inside. He elected to wait a little longer, remembering the sparking tempers of Edward and Selka.
A passing male orderly gave him a quizzical look.
"Just waiting for Commissar Selka." Falkon nodded to the young man.
"Rather you than me, sir" he nodded back, "but allow me to let him know you're waiting." he stepped through the door after knocking neatly, and e merging immediately with a puzzled expression, and pushing the door wider to show there was no trickery, "This room is empty, sir. I'm sorry. You'll have to try the barracks."
Falkon swept his eyes around the room briefly, spotting the displaced chair and nearby mess. Seems this ship has more secrets than they let on, he mused as he stepped away.

Attention to those in service of the Emperor, this is Inquisitorial Representative Hennard. Through the Emperor’s vast resources we have found a planet which demands our attention. Imperial records read this planet was once called Skagua. Skagua was once a colonized planet which shipped its core metals off planet. Before the orks took over this sector, Skagua’s atmosphere was corrupted by the local volcanoes. This caused Skagua to be unable to communicate with the surrounding planets and made interplanetary movement almost impossible due to the inability to communicate with surrounding planets. We believe this atmosphere has led to it being untouched by the Orks. A recent envoy sent to Skagua has not returned even with the best pilots. A probe has gotten close enough to take pictures of the land. Skagua has three major cities on its one land mass, now named Skagua Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. The land between the cities is with large amounts of fields and forests in between the locals seem to use for food. Before being shot down the probe was able to assess small amounts of the fighting capabilities, modern lasgun technology could be seen and the cities are well fortified with void shields and artillery dug outs. We can assume at this point they lack any more advanced technology. They have no air defense or air combat ships, the atmosphere seems to be their defense.
The inquisition believes they will not come under the Emperors guidance without a fight, we do not know for a fact but deem the planet as hostile. We must come with ideas how to take this planet back, any planet not bowing before the Emperor is a disgrace to his Holiness and I will not allow a Exterminatus this crusade seems to enjoy using.

Suolyn'ne twirled her black locks of hair around her finger. Contemplating her indescribable loneliness was the only pass time she had, though as of recent, another had taken its place. She took her time noticing the subtle changes in her tiny domain. The walls were no longer slanted in and the floor was flat. The ceiling was high and she assumed it also now possessed a dome. Over time, the dome was slowly enveloped by magnificent art work of the New Order's triumphs and victories. Pillars appeared later to support two catwalks that materialized on either side of the room. Her floor turned to what seemed to be a sandy-brown shade of marble and the walls followed suit. Two fountains flanked her throne which was now a solid gold cast with inlaid gems and other rare and precious materials. These changes peeked her interest greatly and it might have been in part to the fact that in seemed they took place over an eternity.
The next change was that of her portrayed form. Her lavender coloured skin was replaced by a dark bronze complexion. The tail she used to get around now adopted the patterns of a desert serpent and a rattle at its end. The great horns protruding from her forehead were now that of a bovine creature and her razor sharp claws disappeared altogether.
The last change took place in her psyche. She felt no pleasure from fleshly pursuits and found herself in deep distain for them. Her focus was on maintaining order, as ironic as she thought of it. How does a being of Chaos maintain order? She mused that thought for what seemed like thousands of years until the epiphany hit her like a brick.
I am not a being of Chaos any longer, am I? No... I am a being... a being of order... of the New Order she realised. And with that concrete realization, she left her domain and entered Ryus' observatory.

The Blade of Mork sailed brazenly through the infinite void of space.
Gadnuk sat at the ships command throne, the once noble chair was modified for an orks taste Brass Aquillas were removed and replaced with Icons of the twin ork gods. Gadnuk was tasked to find and steal as many ships as possible while Nox and Da Doof were on Havishan uniting the klanz. While Gadnuk had never captained a ship before he had spent a lot of time in ships when he served under Kaptin Grinbad and surely that counted for something, or at least that was Gadnuk’s reasoning. One of the bridge meks spoke “Boss we da mega Git Finda is picking something up, signature reads as one Eldar light vessel.” Gadnuk smiled “Should be an easy warm up, set a course it won’t be able to handle how much dakka we got.” The Mek spoke “aye aye Boss we got two minutes before we’re in firing range.”
The Elegant Eldar vessel came on screen. Gadnuk smiled “Easy Pickens. Fire da primary kannon.” The ork ship fired with the massive rail shot from the ship’s primary weapons, they landed a direct hit. The mek shouted with joy “Der hit boss looks like they’ve lost primary power.” Gadnuk grinned “Ready boarding torpedoes and open a hailing frequency with em.” Soon enough the Eldar came on to the view screen.
Gadnuk smiled at the sight of his defeated foe, “Attention Eldar vessel. Your ship iz now property of Da Great Nox WarpRida. You and yer krew are now property of Boss Arachus. Prepare to be boarded” The Eldar gave a quick laugh “Foolish ork, did you really think you’d take us so easy.” Gadnuk raise an eye brow “Honnestly yeah I did. And unless you pull a zoggin armada out yer ass right now…” Gadnuk looked at the Eldar’s glee and realized “Oh... zog.” The Eldar smiled and cut the transmission as a bridge mek spoke “Boss we got a dozen ships uncloaking signature reads Eldar.” Gadnuk shouted “Prepare for emergency Warp Jump.” The Eldar already began firing thankfully the Iron warriors had improved their shields and they sustained only minimal damage. A bridge mek shouted “Emergency jump in 3.2.1 Ere We Go.” Their view screen went purple and the shutters sealed to hide the madness of the warp.
Farseer Lilliana sat in her quarters when Captain Jacko entered. The Eldar who followed the path of the Mariner was old even by Eldar standards. His hair as white as snow and face battered by time. Around his neck hung an empty blue crystal that would become his new home in a few short years. The Captain spoke “Pardon the interruption Farseer.” The woman broke away from her meditation and spoke with a smile “Ah Captain, no apologies necessary, what can I do for you.” “Several of our ships set an ambush for those orks who have been selling our kin as slaves to those tainted sons of dogs on Fahren.” “Was it successful?” Jacko sighed “No unfortunately the orks fled before we could do any real damage to them. We did however get the name of the green skin who’s behind all this.” “Lets here it then probably something ridiculous like BigStomp or FaceBleeda.” “The orks refer to him as Nox WarpRida.” The name gave the Farseer chills, unnatural the name itself was not to be feared but something odd clung to it. Jacko spoke “You all right mam?” Lilliana spoke reassuring the old man “I’m fine, must have been something I ate. Some tea would soothe me; would you care for a cup Captain.” Jacko spoke “No thank you mam, I personally despise tea. Plus, I have some work to attend to” Lilliana shrugged at the battle hardened old man “Suit yourself.”
Gadnuk breathed a sigh of relief as the Blade of Mork came out of Warp. The Kommando gave a lot of thought to what he should do next. He needed more ships to transport the new recruits from Havishan and Wuldgrund, but risking their only kruza was not wise. Gadnuk pondered and decided he only had one option. Gadnuk shouted to a bridge mek “Set a course for these coordinates, and prepare a message to Da Boss, we’re going to be running a little late.”
Spoiler:
So rolled a minor defeat for the orks plan to build a fleet of stolen ships. Warkitten's Eldar ended up setting a trap for Gadnuk.

Colonel Detta did not have to think long about Julius' offer. To traverse the stars alongside the holy astartes was more than most men could even imagine, let alone have a chance of achieving. Detta did not revere these superhumans, but knew many in his ranks did.
The colonel allowed himself a smile. Of his men found out he declined this offer, the hybrids wouldn't be his greatest threat anymore. Besides that, thru would have to overcome their superstition if they could become a cohesive unit with the Ultramarines. No, he would accept their offer, and allow his own fleet to be repaired and resupplied in the safety of behind the frontlines.
Now, he just needed to find Julius amidst his brothers, and let him know of his decision.
Isos was walking to Vayden's personal quarters, knowing his friend had been hit harder by grief than he let on. Many of their trusted companions had died onboard the Knife, and none were unscathed by their absence. Isos found Vayden sharpening a knife, and the Sergeant recognized it as Corporal Falkon's.
"He left it in the mess hall. Must've been eager to see some action, if he forgot it. He's had it since he was still a greenie." Vayden said without looking up.
"Vayden-" Isos began.
"I'll put it to use again. He might be gone, but they won't forget his blade. Even if someone else uses it in his place." Vayden growled.
"We'll kill them. Every last one. But you can't sit in here thinking about them all day. It doesn't do anything but hurt you, and you know it. Think about this, we're being repositioned with the frakking Ultramarines. Then you can use your bird again." Isos said before Vayden could get any further.
At the mention of his sentinel, Vayden perked up slightly. "I haven't gotten to use her in awhile" he admitted.
"That's the spirit, now come on. I'm sure there's still some food left in the hall. Even if there isn't, the place has got to be better than the pigsty you call your quarters."

Lord Governor Hannibal Pavus sat at the grandiose war table before his council. Captain Kassani spoke “As you know Lord Pavus we have been attempting to track the Deep’s hive mind, and so far our efforts have proven less than fruitful.” Kassani summoned the next slide of the presentation, ten identification pictures appeared. “From what we understand the Hive Mind is a being of no small psionic capacity that relays all its commands to its charges psychically. So we hoped that perhaps allowing our psykers access to samples recovered from Kagrenz would allow them to track where the orders came from. However this did not go as planned, four of our men died when exposed to the samples. Three more went insane and were given the Emperor’s mercy.” Knight Lord Tennyson made the sign of the Aquilla “Please tell me these me did not die in vain Captain.” The Cadian spoke “It would seem so, the three surviving psykers report that they can track other hive fleets, but not the hybrids.” Kassani hit the next slide and a map of the western sector. “After the psykers were a bust we decided to return to basics physical scouting.” The Hound spoke “Did you expect these scouts to find a big ugly monster shouting commands.” Some of the senior officers laughed. Kassani continued “If you are asking if the scouts found the hive mind, the answer is no, but we did pick up a pattern.” Kassani pressed a button “The few scouts who made it back were those farthest away from Tyrell III. The closer the scouts got to this world the faster their survival rate dropped.” Lord Tennyson spoke “So that’s it, some dead psykers and scouts.” The Hound grinned “Its better than anything you’ve brought us.” The old Knight commander growled at the mans remark. Governor Pavus spoke “We have nothing but have learned one vital thing, the Deep is very protective of this world. Double our scouting efforts in this region and inform crusade command on what little we have learned, be sure to over play the significance of it.” Kassani spoke “Aye lord.” Pavus spoke “Council adjourned.”
Spoiler:
So Pavus is trying to locate the hive mind but has failed at it.

Lord General Zonand, establishing new commands, After our meeting scant weeks ago, I have deliberated on a new combat strategy for this crusade. At the request of Colonel Gisgo, of the Cadian 13th Remnants Regiment, I decree that we pull our lines all the way back, defending our outer systems. Then, when we settle down, we can send a few elite or expendable teams into the Hybrid lines, and find their leader, if the bastards have one. We find it, mark it, and send in the Astartes. That's the plan.
According to initial research and exploration from Faustian regiments, these creatures seem to be based around the planet of Tyrell III, a world the Crusade explorator fleets haven't yet reached. We have no idea what to expect. However, Tyrell III is not our priority. We need to establish an initial blockade zone and work to secure our most crucial worlds. Of all worlds, Arcturia and Trisburg are pivotal for both war material and reinforcements. To the defense of Arcturia, I task to the Cadian 13th, who liberated it, and to Trisburg, I allocate to our local Rogue Trader, Lord Captain Fairfax of House Fairfax. You must have experience in managing a planet's resources, I am sure.
Another commander will need to defend and escort the supply vessels passing through the Imperial lines from bandits and pirate fleets. There is no essential requirement for this role, but should a convoy be attacked, the Crusade will suffer, as will you from my wrath.
I would also like to dedicate a number of forces on our Western front to gathering intelligence and data on the Tau Commander Shas'O Voidspider, located on Julla. To this end, I task any faction to investigate this Tau's combat prowess. Bear in mind that Julla is out of Imperial lines, and thus will not have easy access to reinforcement and supply, and orbital striking will be out of the question, due to the advanced shielding mechanisms of the Tau stationed there.
The field commander of the Eastern Front, Lord Marshall Karak, I leave this to your good standing. Echison VII must be abandoned, the Imperial foothold on it is too little. This is, unless you can route the local ork warboss still on the planet and end the plague of greenskins. Otherwise, if you choose not to, I give you the choice of firebombing the mushroom plantations to deny them to the enemy, or leave them for possible Imperial recapture. Either way, it is your choice, Lord Marshall.
If we are to advance further into Hybrid territory, we will need to push further into the Western Front. Two routes are available: Novus Regulus, or Julla. Julla will be harder to take with force, but is more direct to Hybrid lines. Should a commander wish to contact me, they will be permitted clearance to assault either of these worlds.
That will be all. Lord General Zonand, signing off. Ceasing transmission.
Available Imperial missions You don't look normal... - Assigned to Buttery Commissar (Rogue Trader) Some of the civilians on Trisburgh being recruited into the local guard regiments are not quite typical characters. In fact, you actually caught one with a tail! You can choose to pursue this manner covertly, or confront the recruitment governors about it.
Convoy Chaos The convoys passing through the Imperial territory are at risk of being attack by unknown raiders. There is no guarantee that they will even be attacked, but if there is an incident, the Crusade will suffer.
Caught in the Web - Taken by Bobthehero (Scion 85th) Commander Voidspider of the Tau Empire forces on Julla represents a powerful threat that could spread into Imperial lines if not dealt with soon. His death is not essential, only his continued isolation on Julla. Any forces that could gather data on this commander would be appreciated.
Mushroom Clouds - Assigned to jhe90 (Black Templars) Echison VII must be abandoned to the void to save Imperial war efforts. You can choose to burn it's crops in denial, or leave it for the future. However, if you can neutralise the lingering ork threat once and for all (+/-15 success), Echison VII will be then be a valid Imperial holding.
Assaulting the Hybrids: Novus Regulus - Taken by 2BlackJack1 (Histans) and War Kitten (Ultramarines 3rd) Novus Regulus is very nearly in Imperial hands. After Field-Centurion Gaius began turning the tide against the Ork forces, the proto-Imperial Novans have begun to open up their borders once more. Any assistance in eradicating the last of these entrenched greenskins would make them more disposed to helping the Crusade's efforts. However, this will not be a conquest of military forces, but rather a political one. The support of the Novan Senate will allow Imperial forces to use Novus Regulus as a staging post, but only their support. Alternatively, you could attempt to destroy or dominate all of the native forces, if you're into that sort of thing.
Assaulting the Hybrids: Julla - Taken by Tainted (Tallarn) Julla is the fastest route to the heart of the Hybrid fleet. The catch? It's extremely well fortified by Tau troops, under Shas'O Voidspider. Engage in the lengthy campaign to rid Julla of Tau troops, and begin to fight towards the heart of the Hybrids. Orbital strikes, as before, are out of the question, due to the powerful void shielding.
Available Xenos/Chaos missions Froststeel Thievery - Taken by chazz huggins (Nox), 2BlackJack1 (Archarus) The froststeel forges on Arcturia are proving essential for Imperial vessels, which are riveting the incredibly durable plating onto the hulls of their tanks and starships. If your forces were to acquire some, you would become a formidable threat in the void. However, Arcturia is well defended by a garrison of Cadian guardsmen. However, you might find it easier to raid one of the Imperial supply vessels instead, and hope to find your froststeel there...
Vulture Food - Taken by War Kitten (Eldar) Echison VII is home to a huge supply of mushroom crops, capable of feeding an entire sector. They say an army marches on it's stomach, and the 41st Millennium armies are no exception. Seize the world and take what you can, provided you can salvage anything from the possible Black Templar firestorm...
A New Rim - Assigned to Benlisted (Genestealers) The arrival of Rogue Trader Fairfax has prompted a new opportunity. Rogue Traders could pass the Genestealer Cult far beyond the system. However, you do risk a lot to slip aboard his personal vessels and infect the crew.
Kicking whilst they're down The Imperial forces have pulled back, relieving the pressure on your forces. You are now afforded an opportunity: you can strike out at the outermost Imperial worlds without fear of huge retaliation. Do you seize this chance? The rewards are great, until the Imperium notice you... Alternatively, you could choose to strike at their convoy vessels, which will be laden with resources, ripe for the taking. However, the level of their guarding is debatable...
Spoiler:
NOTE: Most of these missions are open to multiple parties

Subject: Re:Crusade of Fury. (insert your forces into the crusade, for or against)
Inquisitor Raela was quite accustomed to blistering heat, though the temperature of the Warpath Furnace was driving her into a frantic sweat. Her trip to the Crusade Delegation had fallen far short of the Chapter Master's grand scheme. It was In her best intention to play the event off as it had not gone as badly, though her consequences would be dire in either situation. She quickly put a soaked handkerchief to her forehead to wipe the sweat from her glistening skin before pushing the door to Lord Ryus' observatory. Her Lord was looking out the forward ocuport. She closed the door quietly and approached his massive throne. Whilst kneeling in front of him, she pleaded her case.
"My Lord, I have failed, but I assure you that I can sway the leaders of the Crusade if you give me another chance," She said, head pointed to the floor. She dared not make eye contact with him.
She lies, Ryus. Every commander would skin her if they were given the chance. Her failure is more drastic than she lets onto, a whisper told him. It was the same voice that told him of everything else that happened in the Crusade. It was his Watcher, Suolyn'ne.
"You seem nervous, Inquisitor. Something troubling you?" Ryus inquired, playing a simple game that would most likely cause Raela to let her mental guard down. She looked up a bit to lock eyes with him.
"I am feeling ill, Lord. I do believe bed rest would be in order."
LIES, his Watcher informed him. The daemon was beginning to grow on him. He hardly recalled a situation where her presence was not appreciated. This particular situation was one he would appreciate for a lengthy amount of time.
"You are lying to me, Inquisitor. You failed me and there can be no victory."
"Chapter Master, I assure you that-"
"Quiet! I do not accept failure in the New Order!"
Raela stood up and was about to beg for forgiveness, but Ryus stuck his hand out to silence her. He stood and walked to his shelves of ancient books, skimming the spines of each one for a single title in particular. Once he had found his book, "Beasts of M38," he turned and paced back to his seat.
"Do you know the relevance of this book, Inquisitor?" Ryus mused, knowing perfectly well that her ignorance went deep. She blankly eyed the book as if it were some kind of humourless joke.
"It is an out-dated text full of inaccuracies, Lord Ryus... Why does it have anything to do with-"
"Because, my incompetent Raela, it holds a pocket dimension that I stole from a Necron Lord. Inside of that is a Daemon by the name of Suolyn'ne. That Daemon has done everything you have but with better results," Ryus answered. Raela stood in place out of shock. She pointed a finger at him and said something he has heard many times before.
"You... You are a Heret-" she began before Ryus grew bored of hearing it. She could not blurt out the rest with a power armoured fist nearly crushing her larynx. He allowed himself to chuckle at the irony of the statement.
"Oh, it is I who is a Heretic? Not the Xenophilic Inquisitor who is too busy romancing her bodyguards to focus on her assignments? I have control over my temptations, Raela. You, on the other hand, do not and fall short of my goals every time. It is with that notion that I am relieving you from your duties."
Ryus let her throat go and the Inquisitor fell to the floor, holding her throat and gasping desperately for air. She gradually made it to her knees before the cold metal of a bolt pistol touched the back of her skull. A single tear fell from her face and she turned to see Ryus holding his pistol to her head.
"It saddens me to do this, Raela, but you have left me no choice" she heard him say before everything went dark.
* * *
Ryus holstered his pistol after almost an hour standing over the prone body of Raela. In truth, he never fired a shot, not physically. Thanks to Suolyn'ne, he had the power to purge Raela's mind of select memories insert others through a well intricate network of lies. Her previous self could be restored, though not entirely worth it. Ryus would take the time to bring back his most disappointing servant.
Suolyn'ne slithered up behind him and rested her head on his shoulder, "Shall I go restore the trust of our allies? I do believe that would be our greatest option as of late."
"Do it... But be sure to inform them that the Inquisitor has been dealt with."

''Seems we get some leeway this time, here's the goals of the Crusade, I am not quite sure what to make of this, really'' he opened ''The most appropriate one would send us straight back at Julla, and this time we'd go at it alone, which means we wouldn't have to deploy in forests to support our forces. There's plenty of wasteland and barren land where the latest bunch of Tallarn we reforged would feel more than at home in''
Riley head shot upwards, looking at his commander
''This is a bad decision, sir, Julla was death for our men, and sending them back won't do good for morale'' he said
''Oh please Riley, we've suffered plenty of losses before, a hundred men is a cruel blow, but our unit isn't going to let itself be stopped by it'' replied Castella
''I lost men too, but in such a manner? So quick, with so little warning? No, it wouldn't sit right with me''
''Enough you two'' snapped Gallus ''Castella's right, we cant', won't recoil away from our duty, I've reviewed what I was sent, and frankly, and what Crusade HQ wants to happen on Julla is right where our specialty lies''
''What about those strange reports about Trisburgh guardsmen, we could easily send a few our men to pass in as recruits and see what comes from there'' said Riley
''Perhaps it is because none of the men from your Fist died, Riley, but the majority of the unit wants to be on an actual battlefield, they want revenge, not clean latrines because they've talked back to a drill sergeant who doesn't even half the experience they have, all of this just to figure why the recruiters allowed a few muties in their ranks'' answered Castella
''Castella's right, Riley, there's an Inquisitor here, and I'd rather not have my men be caught in his investigations'' said Gallus
Riley sighed and lowered his head ''Fine then, but at least tell me you're not going back there just because of this''
''No, I gave it some though, at least, as I've said before, we'll have a terrain where our men will excel at their jobs, but not only that, we know that our infiltration method works agaisn't the Tau, if it wasn't for those darn Knife-ears and the Hybrids, the Tau would most likely still not aware of our presence, even despite the somewhat sloppy ambush we prepared, But terrain and infiltration issues aside, we also have the Tau Atellus section brought back. He's still unable to talk, at this point I think we'll have to hand him over to Inquisitor Hennard, but only till we're done with him, and his equipement''
''Did we learn anything on that side sir?'' asked Castella
''Not much so far, we'll have to work more on it, first test show that our carapace should able to resist at least a few pulse shots, its not going to be pleasant for sure, but you've all been shot at by bolters before, can't be too worse. Our hellguns go through their armor with ease, its certainly not on the level of power armor, so we'll be fine on that side, hopefully we'll have learned more before we drop'' answered Gallus ''And you can stop worrying, Riley, you're going to be in charge of our recruits for the time being, you wont be forced to go down there''
''Fine, sir, it seems your choice has been made''
''He's not wrong sir'' said Castella ''Why even hold this briefing and ask us if you know where we're going already?''
''I wanted to know if you'd seen something I've missed, apparently not... I'll make further decisions once I know who else is coming with us, for now I'll go back to the Swift Guardian, Riley you're coming with me, Castella, you'll get extra personel coming as soon as we're on the ship''
With the small briefing done, both Tempestor Secundus saluted their commander with the sign of the Aquila before leaving the room. Castella went on to find who and where she'd work with as a liaison while Riley went on to find Atellus amd met up with Gallus at their Valkyrie.
Spoiler:
Riley was quite shaken by what happened at Julla, and you'll see that he and Castella don't exactly get along eye to eye. Furthermore, yeah I made my decision and I will send my men back at it, hopefully with better results. So I am choosing mission #3 Caught in the Web, rolls and stuff will follow
The Blade of Mork drifted silently through an unknown part of space. Gadnuk sat in the command throne when a bride mek spoke “GreenGutz station spotted ETA about half an hour.”
Gadnuk was quite familiar with the station. GreenGutz is a trade outpost ran by Badmoon merchants. Freebooters far and wide came here to resupply and sell their stolen loot. The station was massive thousands of orks could occupy it, however only a few hundred called it their permanent home, with that said the staition was always full of orks. Orks drinking, gambleing, buying, selling, stealing, and fighting in “Da pits”. The station’s defenses were defiantly impressive, in addition to the dozens of constantly roving freebooter ships that formed the station’s unofficial defensive navy.
Dok Krusha the unofficial chief of medicine aboard the ship spoke to Gadnuk “Boss why have we come all da way out here.” Gadnuk spoke “We’re looking fer a freebooter named BloodTalon. I met him back when I served with Grinbad. He frequents dis station a lot particularly a bar.” Krusha spoke “Dis gits gots ships fer us?” “Aye last I heard he had three.” “Why didn’t we try to find him before we went hunting for ships.” Bleeda Gadnuk’s lieutenant entered the bridge and spoke “Dats cuz Talon hates em.” Gadnuk retorted with a laugh “Nah Talon loves me.” Bleeda looked over to the dok “We didn’t exactly part on da best of terms.” Krusha spoke “How bad wuz it?” Bleeda laughed “Cost da git an eye.” The dok spoke “How did you plan to convince him to join up wif us.” Gadnuk smiled “I’ll be charming.”
The Blade of Mork drifted into position and maneuvered into a docking pattern with the station.
Gadnuk accompanied by Dok Krusha and his Gutrippa Kommando walked down the space station’s corridors. Gadnuk spoke to the retinue “You ladz just let me do all the talking” The party turned the corner and saw a green neon sign with only a boot. Gadnuk spoke to his posse “And ere we are da Boot of Mork. Remember you ladz just stay quite.” Krusha spoke “Right boss.”
Gadnuk opened the sliding door and grinned at the rowdy scene of the bar. An ork band played on a crude stage a poorly painted sign read “Floggin Mogrok.” A dozen orks sat at the bar as a trio of grot bartenders rushed to serve their ork patrons their fungus beer. At every table orks played all sorts of crude games everything from five finger filet to arm wrestling. But the main attraction was at the center of the bar. Two Nobz were locked in fisticuffs in a ring.
Gadnuk shouted as loud as he could “Alright everybody lissen up I’m looking fer a freebooter by da name of BloodTalon.” Everyone in the room stopped whatever they were doing, the band stopped playing, orks ceased their games, and the nobs ended their brawl. One of the nobs leapt from the ring a Bad Moon by the look of him. He signaled the at a grot behind the bar and the servant pressed a button sealing the door behind Gadnuk and his party. The Badmoon spoke confidently “You’re a friend of Talon’s I find we aint overly fond Talon or any of hiz git face friendz.” Gadnuk grinned “Easy now ladz nobody needs to get hurt.” Every patron in the bar began approaching the agents of Nox. Gadnuk spotted a bottle on the table he stood next to. “Well then ere we go.” Gadnuk grabbed the bottle by its head and threw it at the bad moon pit fighter. The bottle hit the ork directly in the face and the band began to play as an all out brawled ensued.
Gadnuk was charged by the second pit fighter, but the kommando was too quick sidestepping the marauder. Another ork came charging at Gadnuk with a knife Gadnuk grabbed the ork’s wrist and snapped his arm out of his socket. But the Badmoon rose to his feet and was charged at Gadnuk with full force knocking him into a wall. Dok Krusha drew his shiv and violently shanked the nearest ork attacker repeatedly in the stomach. Bleeda, Fingaz, and Grimsnikk turned their attention to the second pit fighter. But the Nob was strong, he lifted both Skagnet and Rippa off their feet and threw them towards the opposite end of the bar. The nob was only slowed by Squeeza who drew his knife and stuck it into the brute’s knee-cap. Larpo ducked the sharp side of choppa while Nexmex delivered a sneaky uppercut to the swordsmen. The twins Grizz and Dizz found themselves back to back taking on all comers. The drunken rabble were no match for the skill of the battle hardened kommandos. Eventually the chaos settled and only Gadnuk and crew remained standing.
Gadnuk looked at the destruction he caused and then over to the one of the grot bar keeps. “You where iz Kaptin BloodTalon.” The grot stammered “I.I.I…” Sleekit Gadnuk’s own grot assistant shouted “Out with it ya git or else.” Then Gobbles the unlucky grot who wanted to be the rebellious grot’s friend “Yeah out wif it.” Sleekit paid his fellow Gretchen a menacing stare. The barkeep spoke “He spends all his time in da Boot of Mork.” Dok Krusha questioned “I thought dis wuz da boot of mork.” The grot spoke in offense “Wat no, dis aint dat dump diz iz da Boot of Gork.” The dok looked to Gadnuk “Twere an honest mistake.”
The orks exited the bar and walked down the station’s corridors to find another sign of a neon boot, this one was red however. Gadnuk looked over to his posse and spoke “Just remember to let me do da talkin.” The bar door opened and Gadnu shouted “Alright everybody lissen up I’m looking fer a freebooter by da name of BloodTalon.”
The next thing Gadnuk knew a pair of Nobz grabbed him by his arms more orks grabbed his comrades and put blades to their throats. A ork came walking into the center of the Bar from the shadowy back region of the saloon. The ork was dressed head to toe in pirate garb one of his eyes covered by a black eye patch. Gadnuk spoke “Talon iz good to see ya its been years since we last…” The kommando was interrupted by the freebooter’s fist, Gadnuk fell out of nobz clasp and onto the floor. Talon snarled “You got a lot of Zoggin nerve showing yer ugly mug round here.” Gadnuk rubbed his jaw “Alright I guess I deserved dat.” The pirate growled “You deserve a whole lot more den dat you no good slimy worm. Stand him up.” The two nobs forced Gadnuk against a wall. Bleeda shouted “Easy Talon, there’s no reason we can’t be reasonable here.” Talon snarled “Oh don’t fink I forgot about you Bonebleeda, your next.” Talon refocused he gaze at Gadnuk “You see dis!” The ork pointed to his eye-patch “Dis iz yer fault.” Gadnuk spoke “Lissen Talon I’m really sorry bout dat it wuz nothing personal, Dat explosion wuz mostly Grinbad’s fault anyhow we aint wif him no more.” Talon spat “Excuses I don’t care, cuz all dat matters iz right now we are gonna get even.” Talon drew a silver handled knife and raised it over Gadnuk’s head.
The Pirate brought the knife down, sticking it into the wall over Gadnuk’s head, Talon busted out laughing as his men released Gadnuk. Gadnuk gave a breath of relief and spoke laughing “Oh, you got to zoggin kidding me, I thought you were serious.” Talon laughed "Oh zog me you shoulda seen da look on yer face." The guards released Bleeda and the kommando laughed “Dis iz why people steal yer loot and run off in da night you zoggin ass hole.” Talon spoke still amused at his antics “Nah, I can’t stay mad at you. You and yer Gutrippas always found some good fights to get stuck into. So what brings da legendary Gadnuk to my little bar.” “I need yer ships.” Talon laughed “So does every two bit goff wif a dozen gitz following him, and I know yer loaded but I don’t fink you can afford me.” “Its not fer me its fer diz Mek, a proper WAAAGH boss named Nox Warprida.” The pirate spoke “I’ve heard of him he da git dey all say rides da warp itself. Still though I got a right good offer from the Arch-Arsonist.” Gadnuk sighed and nodded to Bleeda. The ork tossed the Pirate a sheathed knife that fit a nobs hand perfectly. Talon unsheathed the blade and grinned “Dis iz a nice knife, where did you get it?” Gadnuk spoke “Dats really complicated, what matters iz will you help us?” The one eyed ork spoke “Lissen Gadnuk because I like you I’ll cut you a deal, I happen to be in need of the services of a kommando.” Gadnuk grinned “Yer looking at some of da best.” “You ever here about Frost Steel, stuff iz some of da toughest stuff in da sectah. Only fing iz dem humiez got it locked up tighter den a Bad Moon'z biskits. But word iz dere iz gona be a big shipment of frost steel real soon. You and yer Gutrippas help me take it and your Warp Rida will have his ships.” Gadnuk grinned “You got yerself a deal.”

Shepard was stood watching the drills, the new recruits where nearly ready and there training was better than expected, a few weeks ago many where useless and could barely hit a target at 50 paces with a las gun, now they starting to look like they could come out of a battle alive. "Attention, form up.... Right, now your nearly passing, good work though i still expect every single one of you to exceed the pass mark, next session 09.00 day after next on the firing range and the Hazed gear drills. Dismissed. The recruits filed out the hall quickly and Shepard was left to his own thoughts until Cadet Alenko entered. "Here sir, what was this important meeting you requested me for" Standing up, "follow me, and tidy up your uniform dress to impress" "yes sir, give me a second" Quickly using one of the windows to correct the errors, "Ready sir"
When they arrived at the deck "This is the Bar sir? Wait, thats.... " Laughing at the situation, "aye lad it is, you needed a nudge in the right direction, so me and Petra decided to skew the odds. You admitted yourself you liked her" "i did sir, but, " Cutting the cadet off, " you where too scared to ask, you can fight a war and not ask her out, that cannot do Alenko, Now go in there and enjoy yourself, put it on my tab. " "aye sir," stepping into the Bar as Petra left. "see told you i could get her in the right place at the right time, i have a few tricks you seem to forget i have" Looking on, signs looked good, and the amsac was already open. "I do think the Cadet will do just fine, now, if we don't get going we will be late for Iron Tooths New years feast" Taking Shepard hand, "after the last one i could barely fit in my Armour, guess thats not a issue now" gesturing to the bump" Laughing as they walked down to the officers lounge on the nearby compartment..

"reports Marshall, the scouting missions and the tunnel operations as requested" Sgt Tangir placing the dataslates on the desk and leaving on the sign of a nod from the Marshall. Taking up the first slate. a report on the scouts. Damn a massive failure, the over head scans revealed nothing due to interference from the mountains and the ground teams report, nothing, nothing, abandoned encampments, a cave not been used in years. Feth, how har can it be to find some bloody orks. Loss's reported as high, Heads found outside a outpost. damn orks got the scout teams as well, a Komando problem as well as Genestealers, this planet was a right mess.
The second report was better though, efferts to recruit and buy local hive gangs and mercenaries had been more effective and several had already reported killing orks and several genestealers in the sewers and under hives, though like all of those elaments there loyalty was never guaranteed and was highly prone to change on a day to day basis. Activating the vox link, "Tangir, order the ground team to deliver what we promised. FLak Armour, las weapons and the barrels of amsac. " Karak loathed to use such scum but they often proved effective and there fact of living in the areas ment they could track, and detect a intruder many many times sooner than the guardsmen or PDF troops. It was a risk but it was going to take risks if they wanted to bring the planet into the grouping of the loyal planets.
Activating a second message, "Drax, readty the warheads for deployment to the central space port. i want them loaded and able to deploy if we need them. "

Meanwhile down on the planet the Gang leaders and mercenary captains, all tough grizzled and veterans of the Darwinian under hives decided there futures. Alliance with the Imperial forces was never one of trust and these space marines where known fanatics, brutal and unyielding. Though this offer it it came good could make them very rich and powerful above the other lesser boss's who contested the ever changing borders of the under hives territory.

Amir took a final look at the encampment through his magnoculars. It was heavily guarded, but his own forces were of considerable numbers as well. What bothered him was the possibility that the enemy weren’t all xenos – it was hard to be sure under the mask of night, but it seemed there were several human auxiliaries amongst their ranks. He spat in disgust before turning to give orders to the mounted platoon behind him.
“Onward, my brothers, for the Emperor!”
As one the platoon rode, with the fury of a hurricane sent by an angered deity. As the tau base came into view over the horizon they levelled their lances in anticipation of impact. Momentum was everything for a cavalry charge; if all went as planned the enemy would be crushed before they had time to react, but if they faltered for even a second they were as good as dead. By chance Amir noticed something out of the corner of his eye, a metallic sheen in the starlight. When he realised what it was he cursed under his breath, and pulled out his bolt pistol to shoot the drone down. But it was too late; the enemy had spotted them, and the azure flashes of pulse rifles began to pierce the darkness in front of them. Around him his comrades were mowed down, but he rode on. Once the charge had begun there could be no turning back.
They hit the tau gun line like a meteor shower, the explosive tips of their lances tearing readily through the xenos’ armour and flesh alike. With the initial momentum of the charge over and their lances discarded the Tallarn troops took to the foe with combat blades in a gruelling melee. Some had dismounted, and were now fighting the tau on foot, while others chased down fleeing foes. Amir drew the curved power sword from his back, and began hacking down the xenos filth around him. Then came a sound like the engines of an aircraft. He turned to see a monstrosity of metal, humanoid in shape but easily twice the size of an average man, even taller than any space marine Amir had seen. It hovered on jets mounted on its back, and slung under each arm was a four-barrelled cannon the size of a tank’s sponson weapon. The battlesuit decimated the Tallarn soldiers around it with a torrent of pulse-fire. Amir charged past the behemoth, sparks flying from his power sword as he cut a deep gash into its flank. He jerked the reins of his horse, causing her to halt and rear up, then used the additional height this afforded to thrust his blade into the battlesuit pilot’s throat. As the mechanical colossus fell he turned back to the less strenuous task of scything through the fire warriors around him.
By the time the final xeno was slain the sun had begun to emerge, its blood-red hue taunting the ragged survivors in the ruins of what had been a tau outpost. Colonel Amir surveyed the carnage surrounding him. His eyes, which but a few hours ago had been a raging fire burning with zeal, were now barely smouldering embers. He had made a fatal underestimation of his foes’ strength; what had meant to be a swift and bloody raid had turned into a skirmish, and as a result he lost many of the men and women under his command, as well as a great number of fine steeds. They had taken the first step in reclaiming Julla, but the real fight was just beginning. It was a certainty that there were more bloodbaths to come.
Spoiler:
Minor victory. I killed some tau but lost a lot of people in the fight. :(

Edward awoke on his side, soaked in sweat, laying fully clothed on his bed. His mouth was beyond foul, and he felt no more rested than before. As he stirred, he also realised he wasn't alone, "Garth?"
The dark figure rose at the foot of his bed, as the commissar stood, "Hey. It's past midday. Wanted to make sure you didn't, you know, throw up again and choke." the gravelled voice and concern didn't quite mix, but Edward was appreciative that he had stayed. He didn't wonder what the commissar had been doing, patience and the ability to wait silently were well ingrained into most guardsmen. It was a matter of life or death in many cases.
"Thank you," he managed weakly, and sat up, his head was still swimming, but due to having emptied his stomach, rather than the bizarre effects of before, "I don't know what happened." he rose and stepped to a small wash basin in the cabin, flushed his mouth and cleaned his face, feeling less ruined.
"Well... I reckon you did know who's aboard the Guinea," Garth watched the seneschal's face carefully, "I reckon you've met them-"
"I told you no!" Edward bristled at the insistence, but the commissar raised his hand for pause.
"...And, I reckon that they made you forget. Your sickness was a warning." Selka pointed one handed to the seneschal's temple.
Edwards eyes widened, "You think this was because I pushed against a psychic block?" he dropped unsteadily back to his bunk.
"Exactly." Selka nodded.
They sat in uneasy silence, considering the various implications. Occasionally, catching one another's eyes and then hastily looking away. Psychic manipulation was not something to wish upon an enemy, never mind a comrade.
Selka finally broke the silence, "It potentially means a couple of things. That you were once trusted to meet or know of them, or that you encountered them on cordial terms. Anything less and I don't doubt you'd be dead. It also means," he looked at Edward's pale face, eyes ringed with exhaustion, "that it may happen again."
"Likely I'm an asset to them, or my brother's influence has kept my safe." concluded the seneschal quietly.
"Do you feel you could ask him about this?" Selka asked quietly.
Edward considered, "He's never lied to me before," he stood up, "and the longer I leave this, I'm certain, the more I'll feel influenced to drop it. I'm going right now."
The commissar tilted his head, "Drink or eat something first. No use you passing out on the route over."
Edward looked down at his crumpled clothes and imagined his own disheveled appearance, "Aye. Ten minutes getting sorted wouldn't hurt." he conceded quietly. Despite his rough and ready approach, Garth was still a political officer, and understood appearing scruffy and half dead to the crew was a poor idea.

Fairfax was alone in his office. Compared to the rest of his ship, it was ridiculously grandiose. And that was not to say the rest of the ship was not already ridiculously grandiose. But there was a consistent and clean look to the room. Instead of needless complication, everything was perfectly balanced to give an impression of coordinated style. Above the mantle was a large, ancient painting of the Reforged Sovereign in a dock, half built and surrounded by workers and architects. In years gone by it would have been recreated from a pictograph before that itself crumbled. It spoke that instead of nobility, there was an appreciation of labour. We remember who put us here, it stated very simply.
Business deals, hospitality events and most importantly, first impressions were made from the meetings and holo-casts held in the room. But today Fairfax had swept it all aside after a worried personal vox signal from his brother.
"Ed! You look dreadful." Fairfax rushed forward and took his brother's arms, his face wrought with concern.
Edward felt embarrassed, but also vindicated, "That's why I came, I'm sorry, I know you're busy with this campaign preparation."
"Sit down and tell me about it." his brother gently steered him to a richly decorated chair, "I will always have time for you."
"It's about the Guinea," Edward began, and the Lord Captain's stomach sank, "Selka pressed me to ask who is aboard."
"Selka! He did this to you?" Fairfax's face clouded with anger.
"No, no. Nothing like! Thinking about the Guinea did this to me," the seneschal gestured to his pale complexion and blackened eyes, "I tried to recall if I had ever been aboard, or met those there, and I began falling over, vomiting. Selka thinks it was due to shock," he paused, struggling to remember, "he reckoned I was touching a psychic block placed on me regarding the Guinea. He believes I met those aboard and someone then did this to protect themselves, you, or me."
Fairfax listened, allowing Edward to finish, "Ed, I... I can't tell you about anything aboard the Guinea. It's for your own safety-" he replied quietly.
"I don't feel safe!" his brother furrowed his brow.
"Let me finish, please. This is very serious. As far as I am aware, you have not been aboard nor met anyone," he raised his hand to stop Edward interjecting again, "but I believe you, and I trust Selka's instincts. If this has happened, it's without my knowledge or permission. I would never put you in danger like that."
Edward struggled to interpret the expression on his lord captain's face, before realising it was anger. Not directed at him, but at his treatment.
"Why can't you tell us, Rey?" he pressed.
The lord captain looked exceptionally tired, the anger draining away, "Because your ignorance means you're not culpable for my actions. If something were to happen to me, or if certain parties were to investigate, you would be found innocent of any involvement. The Sovereign could continue to travel under you."
"What've you got yourself involved in, Rey?" Edward felt deeply alarmed.
Fairfax smiled, "Nothing harmful. I protect the Guinea and those aboard, and in return they provide information, which in itself is a form of protection," he smile faded, "but they were never to meet or interact with you. This is a transgression I can't stand for," he sighed, "but one I don't have opportunity to deal with right now. The Guinea has already reached the sector we head for. Do you trust me to get back to you on this?" He gripped his brother's shoulder lightly, concern etched on his features.
"I do. I'm sorry to lay this on you now." Edward gazed down at the desk, ashamed of his selfish concern.
"You were right to!" Reynard scolded him, "Someone has harmed you, and you are my family." He raised Edward's chin up with one hand, "You are my family. If ever I give you any doubt of that, then I apologise. Please, go and rest now. I will have the other staff pick up your work for the day. We'll be arriving in system tomorrow, we need you alert, and that old dog of yours." he chuckled.
"Don't call him that." Edward frowned.
"You've changed your tune!" Fairfax smiled, "I thought you were ready to space him this morning."
Edward allowed a smile of his own, "Perhaps we all need someone ready to be as blunt as Garth. Just... Not all of the time." he conceded.
"Watch that mouth of his, Eddie. I can keep him safe aboard the ship, but if he barks at the wrong person out there, I can't go to war on your behalf. There will be Astartes, governors, and Throne knows who else..."
The seneschal nodded, "Understood, Rey. I think he just gets cabin fever here. He's Commissariat at the end of the day. Political."
Fairfax laughed, "As much as I hope you're right, seeing him held upside down by that ratty old coat and shaken for disrespecting the wrong man could be one for the calendar."
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." Edward fought to contain his smile, and lost.
"There's been a broadcast that the Guinea picked up," Fairfax casually handed a small chip to Edward, "it seems we are expected in the sector. Listen to it on your walk back. I think you'll definitely want to fill in your new best friend if he's still there."
"How did you-"
"You may be the eyes and ears of this ship, but Garth's the clumpy boots," Reynard laughed at his brother's puzzled expression, "he answered your room vox for you when you were unconscious. Said you were to be allowed recovery time."
"If we are expected, then the Guinea should make use of that time to contact the Histans." Edward ignored the gentle teasing and started ticking over thoughts in his head.
"Already putting something together. Go and rest, Eddie. Don't make me formally order you." Fairfax smiled and gestured to the door.
"Aye, sir." Edward saluted with a cocked grin and shambled out, clipping the chip into his headset as he left.
"Seneschal, pleasant kip."
"Night, Lord Captain."
*
"How did it go?" Selka was roughly where Edward had left him, sat at a side table in his cabin. A couple of tidied, emptied cups indicated that he'd discovered how to set the small drinks machine up for recaff.
"He believes us." Edward sank into the seat beside the commissar, starting to feel very weary indeed.
"That's something," Garth nodded, but seeing Edward's expression, queried, "but?"
The seneschal sighed, "He can't tell me anything. Says its to keep us all safe, that I'm deliberately in the dark as much as you are."
Garth waited for the rest of the explanation, sipping his recaff silently.
"Plus, with us heading into new territory, there's no time to find out what happened at the moment. Someone messed with my head and we just have to shelve it until later!" Edward balled his gloved hands into fists for a moment, before reaching and leaning on one arm of his chair, resting his head on his hand, "I'm sorry. Nothing can be done, but it feels like a violation of my... Self." he found himself lost for words.
Beside him, Selka watched calmly, "Understandable, entirely. But you trust that he will chase it up for you."
"Until today I'd have always said yes. But I trusted him to keep us safe, and this slipped through unseen," Edward pointed to his temple, "plus, it rather assumes we survive whatever mess awaits."
"I'm sorry." for once, Garth looked it.
"About that mess... The Guinea picked up a signal, we are expected. In fact, there's a mission for us. One I think you can get your teeth into." Edward smiled briefly.
"Oh?" Selka raised a scarred eyebrow.
"I'm going to get some food sent up, don't feel like joining everyone for dinner. Here, have a listen while I do that." the seneschal passed the chip from his headset to the commissar, who connected it to his own, less stylish clip. There was no asking Selka if he wished to stay; the opportunity to dine with a seneschal was nearly as rare as with the Lord Captain himself. The meals afforded to both were of a standard rarely seen, even by political officers like Selka. He listened to the broadcast twice whilst Edward sent the order to the kitchen.
Once they returned the Histans, they were to investigate rumours regarding an unusual Imperial Regiment. Garth's interest was prickled, his old instincts would be put to the test, and some discretion from anyone else involved would be necessary. He sipped his drink again, and stared at the ceiling in contemplation. He'd have to brief Dekkal if Fairfax hadn't yet done so. He rubbed his hand to his temples, it'd been a strange day, balancing his responsibilities.
*
"You've dumbed down for me." Selka laughed as Edward returned to the table with a large ornate tureen and two finely patterned bowls on a tray. He removed the lid to clearly reveal dark stew and dumplings, the steam rising and filling the room with a rich herby scent.
"Not at all!" Edward laughed as well, "The state I'm in, I needed comfort food. Something I can handle. Didn't think you'd mind."
"If I'm honest, it's a relief not to have to pretend to enjoy something." Garth watched as the seneschal doled out a generous serving and handed the bowl over.
"And when are you not honest, Garth?" he grinned.
The conversation turned to that of their mission, and how best to handle it. How to return the Histans safely, assuming their regiment had survived. Hopefully they could all arrive in the sector without causing too much commotion.
As the seneschal cleared the table and returned, they both fell silent again, the weight of the day sinking in slowly.
"Thank you for the meal, Ed. And the talk. I should go," Selka stood, then looked back at the defeated form staring into space at the table, and despite himself continued, "unless you really do need the company."
Edward raised his eyes slightly, and upon seeing the empty expression there, Selka sat back down. He stretched out his legs, pulled off his gloves, before fishing out a deck of worn cards, and growling, "But waste any more of my hooch, and you'll learn why half the serving staff avoid my quarters."
"Thanks, Garth." Edward replied quietly, sliding over a small side table to put their drinks onto, away from the game.
"You got one thing right in that shitshow of a meeting, and it's that we are all a form of family here. I'm not about to bail on you either." Selka replied simply.
Lilliana sat down in her meditation room onboard the "Flame of Isha" and mentally prepared herself for what she was about to do. A few feet away a very worried looking Korvel stood and watched her for the slightest signs of danger. The situation between the two of them had been awkward to say the least over the last few weeks. Korvel had won over the members of her Warhost when he had talked to them a forenight ago, conveniently when Lilliana was busy helping guide the ship through the Webway. Whatever the reason he had left for, he obviously didn't want her to know it, not yet at least. All of her attempts to search his mind for the truth had been repulsed easily, someone had helped him build formidiable mental shields while he was gone. Despite her best efforts Korvel and her still got along extremely well, even though she tried to hate him they were getting close again.... Lilliana shook aside those thoughts, she needed to concentrate now. When she had arrived at the human's meeting she had sensed the presence of another mind within that Inqisitor's. A mind that cold help the Eldar, Lilliana opened her mind to her power and began to scan the system for that mind. She would get Ryus to help the Eldar, one way or another. There! The Human's mind was actually not too far from her current location. Knowing that speed would be critical before she was shoved out of the human's mind Lilliana swiftly latched onto his mind and began to speak into it. "Hello Ryus" she began, already feeling his mind fight against the intrustion "I won't be long, I came to offer an alliance to you, one of mutual benefit." At the mention of benefit the human's mind stopped struggling so fiercely. "I want one simple thing, help to defeat the one known as Archarus and his Iron Warriors, I know that you and your kind have a particular loathing for them so you should thank me for this." Lilliana gathered herself before continuing. "In return for your assistance on this matter Iybraesil will help you get revenge on the Tau on Julla. Surely you remember all of the brothers you lost to their firepower?" Lilliana grinned att he thoughts she saw running through the human's mind. The Astartes had a burning desire to right the wrongs done to him, and Lilliana knew that she had been right on the mark. "I'll leave you to consider this choice, when you are ready with an answer I will find you again." And with that she left his mind and returned to her body back in her chambers where she found, to her surprise, that she had collapsed into Korvel's arms at some point. "Oh well" she thought, "there are worse places to be".

Edward shuffled the cards, "May I ask a question?"
"You can ask." Garth raised an eyebrow.
"What happened with your previous regiment?"
The commissar fixed him with a sudden steel glare, "Been doing a little digging of your own?"
"No! Well, only a very basic Imperial ID check. We do it to everyone we let aboard," Edward flinched at the accusation, "but you weren't listed. Not as Imperial, not as Commissariat. It's as though you never existed. But your equipment, experience and knowledge could only come from having served."
Selka smiled grimly, "You know the expression, "I wasn't born yesterday?"
The seneschal nodded, puzzled at the question.
"Well I wasn't born yesterday. Or any day, I haven't been born yet," seeing the confusion on his companion's face, the commissar continued, "warp travel can play merry hell with time. A month in the warp can be ten in reality. Or a day. Or very occasionally, it gets so bent out of shape that you end up in your own past."
Edward blinked, "I've heard of this phenomenon, but I didn't know it was so severe in reality."
Garth nodded, "I was born, lived, trained, graduated and fought nearly fifty years from now. I think. I try not to think on it too much. Nothing I can do."
A thought struck the seneschal, "You were married," Edward tilted his head, "will be? Are?" he struggled with the correct tense.
Garth raised an eyebrow, quizzically, and nodded again.
The seneschal shrugged, "I saw the ring when you washed your hands to eat."
"It's a pipe dream that I'll live long enough to return home and see my family again. It'd mean using rejuvenate and finances I simply don't have, but it keeps me going." Selka replied, his expression unusually serene. It flowed to its regular hard edged scowl as he returned his thoughts to the present.
The Imperial convoy sailed majestically through the void. The staunch battleships and cruisers were near a dozen all in a escort pattern for the valuable cargo ships who hauled precious Frost Steel. They were on route from Arcturia to the front lines of Julia where imperial forces were beset by both Tau and the Hybrid foe. This frost steel was desperately needed in this theater and these proud captains would see it there. However, the orks had other plans for the shipment.
Captain Kallihan stood at the bridge of Liken. The Admiral’s orders were simple ensure the cargo reaches Julia safe. The task did not satisfy his apatite for adventure but he was more then aware of the importance of the mission. Still they set off from Julia a week ago and nothing has happened not the slightest problem. Kallihan realized this a good thing, but hours of sitting on the bridge with literally nothing else to do but wait did take its toll.
A bridge officer spoke out “My Lord I’m picking up something coming out of Warp.” The Captain spoke “Battle stations, void shields up.” The voidsmen spoke again “Signatures suggest ork vessels looks like five kruza class vessels.” Only five vessels? They would be no match for the might of the imperial armada. Had this been any other foe Kalihan would have suspected a trap of some sort, but orks were prone to pick fights they had no chance of winning. The Captain shouted “Order all ships into Aquila formation. These brutes will want to fight us up close.” Then the crude ork ships emerged from their envelope of non reality. “Open fire let them know our fury.”
Earlier aboard Da Wurld Kruncha Kaptin BloodTalon’s flagship.
Gadnuk and the Gutrippas entered the massive bay area of the ship that housed BloodTalon’s Tellyporta. The bay had dozens of meks rushing about making final preparations for the kommando’s deep strike. A mek spotted the Gutrippa party and approached them “You must be da Gutrippas, come dis way we’ll be coming out of Warp any second now you and yer ladz gotta be ready to jump as soon as we hop outa warp.” Bleeda questioned “Why do we gotta jump as soon as we break outa warp?” The mek spoke “If we send you through when we hop outa warp, the warp interference that the tellyporta causes will look like interference from our warp jump.” Gadnuk smiled “And da humiez will be none da wiser we hopped aboard their ship.” The mek grinned “Dats right. Now quickly into da graviton chamba.”
The mek ushered Gadnuk and his men into the saucer like contraption and strapped each of the kommandos to the wall. The mek approached the restrained Gadnuk and held a device with a single button guarded by a clear shield to avoid accidental button pressing. The mek displayed the button to Gadnuk and spoke “When you find da loot all you gotta do is press dis buttona right ere and we’ll tellyport it and you guyz back ere. Got it.” Gadnuk repeated back “Find da frost steel and press da button. Easy.” The ship shook and the mek shouted “Zog looks like we came outa warp a bit early, ok ladz best of luck.” The mek tucked the button into Gadnuk’s pocket and ran out of the dish. The dish began spinning and ship began shacking from the imperial fire. The Mek shouted over from his controls “AND ERE WE GO!!!” the gravitron span faster and faster until Gadnuk and his unit were consumed by a blinding flash of light.
The ork ships came into space only a hundred miles away from the imperial ships. They immediately were hit by the imperials. The orks scrambled their fighters and began swarming the imperial ships. In reply the Imperials let loose with their own tiny vessels. The orks did let loose with their weaponry they kept their primary weapons in reserve. Captain Kallihan thought this odd, but still expected nothing from the green skins.
The Gutrippas appeared inside the imperial trade ship. They were in some sort of vehicle bay by the looks of it. They quickly took cover to avoid being spotted. Mobs of mono task servitors patrolled the bay preforming various tasks. Gadnuk knew from past experience those weird looking humiez with robo-bits didn’t know a whole lot. Then Gadnuk spotted someone who looked like he knew a whole lot. The bay’s overseer who sat at his office which overlooked the bay.
Foreman Halleck sat at his desk, he received word that the flotilla was under attack, but the battle ships had it covered, so nothing for him to worry about. The large man kicked his feet up and took a drink from his mug of lukewarm caffeine. He heard his door open and spoke without turning “About time you got back Sulldsmen you get those…” Halleck turned to see Gadnuk towering over him with his sluga aimed at his skull. The nob grinned “How’s it going.” The foreman reached for something but Gadnuk pulled the hammer back on his pistol to emphasize the severity of his situation, Gadnuk spoke “I’m gonna make dis real easy fer ya. Tell me where da frost steel is and I won’t kill ya.” The foreman stammered “How, how did you get in here.” Gadnuk laughed “Usually da one holding da sluga asks da questions. You gonna tell me what I want to know or am I gonna put a big fat hole through dat skull of yers.” The fore spoke “Ok the frost steel is on deck eight only one level below us.” Bleeda grabbed a clipboard and spoke “He’s telling da truth boss says it right ere on dis manifest.” Gadnuk smiled “Excellent.” The ork squeezed the pistol’s trigger and blew a hole through the overseer’s head. Gadnuk laughed “Oh zog me dat never gets old.”
On the deck bellow millions of pounds of frost steel laid the heavy metal absorbed the light rather than reflecting it. Dozens of guards were on constant patrol, though none expected what was about to happen. The celling above the guardsmen exploded and a man was crushed by the debris. Then a sentinel walker leapt down into their ranks and began firing its melta weapon at the guards. A moment later the rest of the Gutrippas came storming in through the roof. Larpo landed atop a guard and let at him with his mace. Burny living up to his name scorched the wave of men who attempted to reinforce their failing comrades. Dizz threw a axe into the back of a guard who was attempting to sneak up on his brother Grizz. BigRippa the squads heavy weapons specialist mulchified a guard who dared to charge him. Squeeza, Skagnet, Blagnabba, and Grimsnik were in a contest to see who could remove more human ears before killing the owner, Grimsnikk was in the lead with nine. Gadnuk watched as his men made quick work of the unsuspecting guards. A guard charged for him with a knife, but Gadnuk picked the fool up by his throat and snapped his neck. Finnaly the last of the guards were dead, and Fingaz exited the sentinel. Gadnuk grinned over at his demolitions expert Blakrog and smilled “Nice work wif dem melta charges.” The ork smiled thanks boss. Bleeda slit the throat of a barely living guardsmen and spoke wiping the blood from his knife onto his pants “Dats da last of em boss let’s get outta here.” Gadnuk smiled and drew the device from his pocket. He flipped the protective case open and pressed his thumb against the red button. And in a flash of light the orks were gone.
Captain Kallihan stood at his bridge when an ensign spoke out “Sir the orks are breaking off.” Captain Kallihan was shocked “Their retreating? So soon.” “Aye sir their making emergency warp jumps, shall we pursue.” Kallihan shook his head “Negative, our priority is our cargo not the orks.” Another crewman spoke “All five ork ships are gone sir.” The captain spoke “Very well resume course to Julia.” Ensign Bradly spoke “Sir I’ve received a report from the Hemmingway they were hit.” Kallihan growled “Impossible the green skins never made it past us.” “Negative sir report says they were boarded by orks. The Green Skins made off with the entirety of their frost steel.” Kallihan couldn’t believe it the captain shouted “Are you telling me some damn green skins just made off with HALF of our Frost Steel in less than a half hour!” Bradly spoke “Aye sir.” Kallihan sunk back into his command throne. The captain rubbed his temples unsure of what to do next “Maintain our course, hopefully we’ll all keep our heads upon arrival.”
The Gutrippas reappeared in BloodTalon’s cargo bay. They emerged with both the frost steel and some of the slain guards, and other various equipment including the stolen sentinel. Talon was waiting for Gadnuk and his men. Talon smiled “You did good Gadnuk real good. You have no idea how much all dis frost steel will go for.” Gadnuk spoke “Who did you plan to sell it to.” Talon shrugged “Aint sure yet.” Gadnuk grinned “I have lotz of contacts dat would love to get their hands on all of dis.” Talon smiled “Dat right?” Gadnuk returned the toofy grin “Dats right, keep up yer end of da bargain and I’ll make da necessary introductions.” Talon spoke amused at the havoc they would cause “You got yerself a deal.” Gadnuk smiled “Great lets set a course for Havishan Minor, Nox is gonna be happy to see you.” Talon spoke “I can’t wait to meet dis WarpRida of yers.”
