Very neat project. I look forward to seeing it develop.
Although natural light can be very flattering, perhaps you should look into getting a lightbox? Although perhaps its fitting to see the Kroot out among the lush foilage.

This seems like a really cool projekt! The raveners look very good and I like the zoanthropes too. Hope to see more stuff finished soon. What have you thought about doing for the carnifex and hive tyrant? Also what have thought fluffwise for this project?

Very promising! The Raveners are absolutely fantastic! However I think the Zoanthropes could've really used bloated GS head, with twodozen dradlocks, to really highlight the point what they are and what capabilities they have!! With Kroot and their abilities to absorb alien dna to shape them, this projects is almost fluff compatible too

Wow, I dig it! Love the idea and 'counts as' action is always a favorite of mine. Everything looks fabulous so far, whacky and wonderful and well-painted. My one complaint is the wildy different colors on the raveners, but perhaps they're seperate squads or the whole army is diverse like that ...
Looking forward to more, keep up the great work.

@ yakface - I've been considering a lightbox and I might be able to procure one this weekend. Or maybe next time I'll have the Kroot frolicing in the nasturtiums, I don't know. @ gurkmannen - The carnifexes will be converted from Great Kroot Gnarlocks. I'm working on those this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. As for the Hive Tyrant, I think the perfect base model for it will be the Kroot Mercenary figure from the Inquisitor game (anyone have a spare they want to sell or trade?). I think the scale will be perfect! Fluffwise, the army will be a renegade mercenary group that is trying to liberate Pech from the hands of the Tau - and before they can do that, they need to assimilate the genetic material of some of the most feared forces in the known universe. I think the idea of using Tyranid genetic material (bad juju!) shows their extremism... @ migsula - I am truly flatterd by your compliments. It gives me more encouragement to work on those Carnifexes/Gnarlocks this weekend! I agree with you on the Shapers...they need a little extra something to show they're different. Unfortunately I was up against the wall for time when I put them together for a tournament. However, I do see a head swap in their future. What I was planning on doing was cuttng off the back of the heads and extending it out 2-3 mm, but trying not to duplicate the Tyranid models (so no brain/vein bulges). The other option is to add glow effects on the paint job to represent their awesome psychic abilities (in addition to their Psi abilities levitating them off the ground). @ Boss Salvage - My KMA forces are differentiated by skin tones. However, with this 'army conversion' the skin tones will be mixed and the squads will be seperated by shoulder pad colors. I blame the 20-man unit of the KMA and the 32-spinegaunt units of the Tyranids. To some extent, the warriors and the raveners will reflect this, but mostly I do it to let me flex my painting skills and to keep things interesting. Instead of skin colors to unite the (Tyranid) army, I'll be relying on pieces of armor and trophies. Besides, the Shapers can't control everything the Carnivores eat.

The army looks great so far and I quite like the weapons of the first 'Ravener'. One question; where are the mounts from?

Frikken cool conversions! And I love the fluff. "Free Pech! Cannibal Birds of the Universe Unite! You have nothing to lose but your bird cages! Wait for the signal. This has been a message from the Pech Liberation Army." ahem. Sorry, got a bit carried away there.

@ SonofGuilliman - Thanks. As much as I wanted to give all the Kroot models scything talons, I have to stretch my supplies (I'm cheap like that) and get creative - hence the Spinefist Axe on Ravener #4. The weapons on Ravener #1 come from the 40K Dark Eldar plastics. I like using those because the weapon turned out to be a tip of the hat to the Indian origin of the Kroot...at least, it seems to me the looks and name of the Kroot have Indian origins. Edit: The mounts come from the mounted Junkers from Void. The FLAGS had them on clearance a few years back and I've finally put them to use. They come in two pieces: the rider and the mount. The riders have since...um, disappeared. Yeah, that's it. Probably into a Bitz box somewhere or into a Kro - erm...yeah. Void. Junkers. @ tinfoil - I'm glad you like them! Your comments made me think of the fan-created Sau'cea Sally presonality from the Eye of Terror summer campaign (which was based on Tokyo Rose from WWII). I think I might have to make some sort of propaganda character to act as an objective marker... Viva la resistance!

Cool. A Tyranid army not using Tyranids. I've always wanted to do a Tyranid army using Guard models, but this works just as well. BYE
