Overwatch reminds me why I think of Blizzard as a company that deserves no money, at all, and why I despise Jeff Kaplan.

Thank God I have Mass Effect for MP; where as soon as I finish out an item...it's pulled from the loot pool.

Overwatch has been the first Blizzard game I've liked. Still haven't spent a dime on it other than the purchase price; perhaps it's just me ultimately not giving a damn about cosmetics, but as enticing as they all are, that's what they only are - cosmetics. I'd have a problem with it if it was anything other than that, but they can knock themselves out with it as long as it remains to supply items that make zero difference to gameplay other than psychologically.

Something that should be noted though is the fact that all Overwatch "DLC" has been free, and will continue to be (hopefully). You could argue that the content of such "DLC" is nowhere near the quantity/quality that you would consider paying for, but I think it's good to know that, once you've bought the game, you aren't missing out on any important/game changing content if you spend no more money.

If everyone would just get their "Legendary" skins first try or within 4 or 5 boxes they wouldn't even be legendary.

It's odd, I finished the PVE on hard mode with no problems, then tried again and just can't do it again, after a dozen-odd tries. It's that last bit that's the killer, someone always charges out there solo, and gets KO'd where nobody can revive them.

I just finished it on Expert; seems like the higher you go, the more people know what they're doing and coordinate.

And notice, 10(9 yesterday, 1 today) boxes in two or three days isn't exactly a common thing. You can do that with the Arcade mode but beyond the "once a week" setup, you're going back to the whole schtick of grinding for one box.

Or making that higher tier stuff pay out waaaay better when it's duplicate.

Got the new legendary skin for Genji in the second box. A character I never play, silly RNG. Wish you could voluntarily sold cosmetics you never use or think they're ugly.

Luckily still had 3000 coins since Christmas so I could get Mercy skin.

The thing is....yes, the reward system is heavily slanted towards making you buy boxes in hope of getting the good stuff. The sprays and voice lines are probably just there to dilute the chances of getting the good stuff. It's how Blizzard are making money off this game, which they need to do somehow. I can't get too worked up about it, since nothing from the rewards is required to actually play.

I tried the PVE game last night, it was a lot of fun. So .. it's just a special event and then it's gone in 3 weeks? Why aren't they making it permanent? I'd really like to see them do one for every map and have a whole horde mode option, instead of just all pvp all the time.

I think, with Junkenstein's Revenge and now Uprising, they might be working towards a larger story campaign. Right now, they're testing mechanics and balance. Junkenstein let them collect data on how specific heroes did in a wave-based scenario. Uprising is letting them see how things work with different heroes in a more mobile scenario.

And I think, with the popularity of these events, they'll probably be looking into doing a larger, permanent PvE campaign.

BUT! Remember, this is Blizzard. The reason this stuff is so fun and balanced is because they take so long to quality test and design these things. If there's a permanent Campaign, it's going to be a long time coming, but very well done.

Though something they might do instead, is have a series of PvE events in a separate section of the Arcade, or in a 'Campaign' screen, in which case Uprising would be the first of many story-driven PvE scenarios.

I don't get why some people care so much about cosmetic items in games so much..

I do admit that the PvE thing is fun to paly.. but there are so many bads out there it just makes me angry..


Then I go paly Comp and get even more mad at the amount of bads there are

So it turns out the more 'Popular' a character is the less SP you earn in Comp...

This explains why I have a hard time getting to diamond.. as I normally paly a healer then tank

Part of the problem with the Comp point system is that there aren't many choices for healer or full tank compared to DPS.

Besides, it doesn't really appeal to me. I've actually switched down to D.Va's classic skin since I think it's the best one she has.

It's free, and last time I checked you could get the skin by playing vs AI on easy mode. (That's what me and my friend did when he wanted the Genji skin).

Honestly as far as MOBAs go, HOTS is pretty accessible. Not too good for dedicated MOBA fans because it doesn't do some things as well as it's competition, but fairly easy to get into.

HoTS is free, yeah.

I'd be willing to download it and try out for a D.VA skin. It'd probably be more fun with a few Dakkaites playing together.

A PvE mode needs to remain as a standard offering. You can actually defeat it on normal with a marginal team depending on who you have.

I've beaten the current one a few times on normal with only 3 remaining players when the makeup was good (Bastion/Orissa and a healer plus another character).

Speaking of, Bastion has to be the single best character in this PvE event. All his counters are gone (no sleep darts/roadhog/teleporters/genji), and the enemy comes to you. Plop and annihilate everything. Orissa or Mercy upping the damage is just icing on the cake, plus you can heal yourself if your team is stupid. Orissa and Mercy/Lucio being the next best pics.

Avoid Mei (freeze is to slow to really help)/Hanzo (his dragon spam isn't very effective on the level)/Symmetra(turrets die too quick).

Please for the love of god don't intentionally try to lose as some did to try and 'speed up' games. Getting the worst of overwatch was a problem during the previous event.

Kaplan said they might eventually put Police Officer DVA and Oni Genji in lootboxes. They weren't sure yet.

For the first event as you've pointed out, the rest require actual PVP.

Man 24 boxes and i get 2 torb legendaries and tohah roadhog.. feth me

30 boxes and I've gotten zero legendaries from the event.

Only have gotten 1500 credits from the crummy blue dupes too.

Doesnt seem to be a good event for drops.

i think im gona give up on some of them and just get a bunch of voice lines and junk.

i really wanted at the least the mercy skin and maybe the widow one. dont care much for tracers and definitely didn't care for torb.

Only one I wanted was the Widowmaker skin, as I didn't get the preorder one and the character model for Widowmaker is trashy otherwise.

Event-wise, I've gotten Bastion's Null skin and several sprays/voice lines.

Also, I take that back re: zero legendaries. I got Blackwatch McCree and forgot about it.

But still, 1500 credits with the amount of dupes I've gotten? Including several Legendaries for 76, Bastion, and Hanzo?

It's irritating. It just goes to show that whoever thought this game deserved awards for "Creative Direction" deserves a swift slap.

Yeah, bastion is amazing. In higher difficulties Orisa's barrier dies too fast so I prefer Rein, and Winston's spread out damage can be really helpful vs splicers in lower ones. What really bugs me is when we end up with no real barrier tank and a weak DPS in higher difficulties and you can tell that the team probably isn't going to make it, but can't quit because if you play perfect you might pull through.

I have played hard, but nothing beyond that.
