Well, I have a sizable Necron army. I would like to find a case that can comfortabley fit all my models.

I have the following:

Nightbringer

3 necron Lords

Destroyer ord

20 Immortals (old-school type)

10 flayed ones

10 pariahs

120 Warriors (old-school metal type)

20 scarab bases

5 Destroyers (old school metal type)

3 Wraiths

3 Tomb spiders

3- VDR dreadnoughts

1 VDR necron flier (1/72 scale Stargate Deathglider)

Monolith

3 Heavy destoryer

I really don't like metal models clanging together as is it too hard to repaint.

A guy at our shop uses a plain box that says "Adult Signature Required", but he fills it
with those foam transport trays so that none of it moves around in transit.

Linky to sabol transport stuffs

People also use gun foam or that eggshell stuff (same thing I'm guessing?)

I've seen people use magnets and a metal toolbox...

I would reccomend the sabol army transports.

Sabol is nice, but the soft case is a deal breaker for me. if it wasnt for that, they would get my full endorsement.

I use these for my cases...

(this one for the bottom)
www.ideastreamproducts.com/vaultz/VZ01270.html

(this one to rest on top of the cart)
www.ideastreamproducts.com/vaultz/LtrChest.html

And I fill it with this for foam:
www.thefoamfactory.com/packagingfoam/charcoalfoam.html

The same foam company can even custom fit your models into the foam
www.thefoamfactory.com/packagingfoam/models.html

Without the customization of foam, doing it this way is far cheaper than getting a platoon transport from sabol.

[edit]

One of these cases is used for my necrons. I have the following inside one:
1 monolith
2 foot lords
1 destroyer lord
6 destroyers
3 heavy destroyers
60 warriors
10 immortals
10 flayed ones
2 tomb spyders
20 scarab bases
3 wraiths
I stil have enough space for another 40-50 infantry sized models, easily.
Tthe best reason for using these, is because they arent badly priced, but they fit a monolith in the same case as the rest of my necrons. I havent seen many cases do that yet.

I stopped using Sabol years ago. Too much trouble customizing the foam trays. (Anybody want to make an offer on two slightly used army transports?)
I use Plano 4-pistol cases: http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/outdoors/hunting/gun_cases&start=10&selectedSKU=0347-02397-1404

easily available and cheap, with 3 pieces of foam. But I think Hellfury has the toughest and probably biggest cases.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

They are quite tough, but not as bullet proof as I would like (in comparison to say, a Pelican case. Not much gets tougher than that.).

I work at the Minneapolis airport, and last week I saw a gamer go through baggage check with his sabol. Battalion case.  Most of his models came out ok, but he was fuming pissed because it wasnt handled as well as it should have been. He told me that some of his vehicles got either dented up, or in a couple cases, smashed. He didnt bring it on as a carry on, he checked it...

Long story short, the problems he had woudlnt have happened with a hard shelled case.

I am not overly fond of GW cases because the foam sucks, but it is hard shelled, so it automatically has one over sabol. Nice customizability doesnt mean much when your army gets crunched.

Even cheapo pistol cases put sabol to shame, and are infinitly cheaper. All because of the hard shell.

I know alot of people will come on after me and defend sabol like its the Lord Christos, but really, think about hard shelled and soft cases for a moment. If you want something thatt lasts, hard shelled is the only way to go. if you want something just to go down the street to a shop with, sabol will probably be good enough.

I am thinking that if I can find some foam insterts (like GW cases with the custom-fit ability) I can just get a large tool-box. I think that that might be the only way to get a case big enough for the Monolith and the Flier in my army.

You could always go the totally over-the-top route and get something custom built from a road case company like http://www.rockhardcases.com/ or http://www.anvilcase.com/

Give your entire army an invul save....

Cuda: The link above shows you the Sabol stuff. You don't have to buy the cases. The
trays are sold separately.

That guitar case link is pretty awesome. I wonder how hard it would be to gut a handled
hardcase and make room for foam.

Imagine, 5000 points of Warmachine metal swinging from your arm...

I love pelican cases. I've used them for years to protect my camera lenses on whitewater journeys but I think they are a bit over the top for the average traveler.

I too must taut the virtues of the Sabol army transports. They are very customizable and work well for everything. They have many sizes to choose from and are sleek and stylish.
