Hi all.

I am currently reworking my entire Adeptus Arbite army trying to make them into a more coherant army, whithout losing the police feel.
As part of that effort I have decided to go for a "black and white" theme, using dark red and gold to spice things up.

In this thread I plan to post images of my Adeptus Arbite vehicles.
At first they will be in various stages of completion (both wip and pip).
I would really appreciate if you could find the time to comment on them in order for me to improve the conversions and paint jobs.

Please provide ideas on how to improve vehicles in this thread - and suggestions regarding other vehicles you would like to see in my army.

Regards
/Magnus Johansson aka "The Arch Heretic" (among fellow Arbite players) aka "Kendoka" (on forums) aka "oiMorrigan" (on ebay)

I was about to say that the jeep looks like a Toyota. And it's a Japanese Defence Force vehicle... so it makes sense.

How'd you do the bikers?

Love the searchlight on the speeder. Nice touch.

Woo, great stuff Kendoka. The razor is ace, and I'm a big big fan of your paint scheme & weathering style & such. Mad cred for the chains on hatches and bases on the vehicles!

So I'm guessing you're using marine rules now? Or an über-flexible home-brew codex? Looking forward to more!

I liked it because it looked a little odd and futuristic. Will add more GW stuff to it (lights etc.) trying to make it blend in better.

>How'd you do the bikers?

SM Chaplain bikes, converted AA second ed. bodies.

>Love the searchlight on the speeder. Nice touch.

Yeah, I wanted the "Police helicopter feel", using searchlights and FLIR to hunt down traffic offenders and fleeing criminals.

>über-flexible home-brew codex?

Yep.
IG with
- carapace
- shotguns/grenade launchers
- bolters/heavy bolters
- rending (shock mauls)
- access to more vehicles
- some special rules

Not exactly vehicles, but....

I would really appreciate feedback and suggestions (colours, additional gear, unit name, stats, points cost etc.).

Umm... wow. They can't've been cheap.

They look great, the only sad part being the fact that the Carnosaur doesn't have a lot of options as far as its pose is concerned unless you really start sawing into it and greenstuffing it.

And as far as the Toyota goes, I didn't say it looked bad or out of place - it looks great - it just looks like a Toyota. You could say it came from the Forge World of Toyotica Pacificus VIII.

Nope.
But as stated hundreds of times before in forums - collecting GW stuff aint cheap regardless of what you end up buying.

>...the Carnosaur doesn't have a lot of options as far as its pose is concerned unless you really start sawing into it and greenstuffing it.

Yes.
Although it is hard to tell from the image my three carno are posed differently.
Most visable if you look at their heads: "down-right", "up-left" and "closed mouth straight forward".

>...it just looks like a Toyota.

Yep.
Same problem as always when using 2k vehicles in 40k...
I have tried to wash away some of the present day feeling by adding GW parts. Hopefully it will look more 40k-ish when completed.

Thanks for the input.

Right behind you...

Kendoka-  Superb work.  I'm very impressed.  For the Razors- did you consider a pushbar or something similar for the front?  I think that would make them even more characterful for Arbites (pushing merchants carts, barricades out of the way as the Razorback moves forward into the rioting mob...)  Something you might consider is the idea of sentinel conversions for Arbites, although exactly what role they would fill, I'm not too sure- maybe Repressor support (w/ Hvy flamers)?

Again, great job!!!

I love those bullet-holes on the side of the Razorback: definitely evokes the idea that someone was actively shooting at the damn thing at some point.

Good idea, anybody got any reference pics (40k-ish)?

I do have a few AA sentinels - but when doing the AA remake I have neither decided their role in the army nor their weaponry.
Flamers (although perfect ruleswise for my urban fights) just doesnt feel Arbitish enough.

I am leaning towards equipping them with Heavy bolters or some sort of rocket/missile launcher or just big searchlights...
Restricting weapon types to a minimum (shotgun, grenade launcher, bolter, heavy bolter) has its charm.
Thoughts?

The dozer blades that came on the old SM vehicle upgrade sprue (for the old-style Rhino hull) had some sort of bar that you attached the blade part of the 'dozerblade' to.  It might be a bit too busy though.  I'll have to poke around in my bits boxes and see if I can come up with a 40K bit that works for what I was talking about.

Yeah, the flamer weapon on the Sentinel brings SoB to mind more than Arbites, but heavy bolters will require some sort of VDR rules???  What about the autocannon weapon variant? You could also add some sort of 'shockmaul'/taser bit to replace the chainsaw on it as well (but still have same effect in CC?).  Just ideas to throw around..

I will dive into my bits box and check it out.

>but heavy bolters will require some sort of VDR rules???

As my army is full of non-kosher stuff, that wont be a problem
(alternatively I can have them count as autocannons).

>You could also add some sort of 'shockmaul'/taser bit to replace the chainsaw

Yes.
Guess the "targetting fork" from the front of Landspeeders/Valkyries might work, they look a bit like tazers...
This said, I am not sure of using Sentinels in CCCC (crowd control/close combat).
In a real life situation I can see them getting swamped/tripped/entangled way to easy.

Anybody remember the side scrolling game (for the Amiga?) when you stomped the streets with a walker, wasting people who tried to climb your vehicle to throw in bombs??

Regardless of doing my sentinels CCCC ready or not. It wont be open topped (or else lobbing a molotov inside would be way to tempting for the street thugs).

Keep the ideas coming.

What about converting Heavy Flamers to be Heavy Water Cannons? Keeps the theme of riot control and what not... Corny, I know, just a thought...

Not a bad idea - I know of many AA players that field water cannons.
However, I have ordered my AA to leave all non-lethal weaponry at the precinct fortress.
They are at war and you dont bring a stick to a knife fight (well I would, being a kendoka - but thats a different story).
They will have shock mauls and some smoke/gas - but no water and web stuff.

IA3 has Sentinels with Heavy Bolters. They're Drop Sentinels, but you don't have to Drop them.

So no need for VDR.

Sweet, I might have to check those out myself.  I guess they are part of the Elysian Drop Troop list?  I remember Forgeworld having a Drop Sentinel, but I didn't recall the HB weapon option.  Thanks H.B.M.C.

Sentinels:

I don't know how to work the Sentinels into my army list.
Perhaps fitting them with a Heavy Bolter + a large search light?

Adeptus Arbites with Cyber Mastiffs:

I planned to field them as a special unit - but instead I'll probably attach them (as wargear) to patrol/suppression teams.
