Im sure these will be of interest to some people

These are all limited edition runs and the only place to find them is ebay.
the emperor is a 100 run miniature so dont expect to see him often the death knight is limited run of 200.

magnus the red has also been released however im to lazy to post pics.

The next release will be leman russ of which i have seen wip and hes looking great.

I have Horus and just orderd Death Knight and Sanguinous.

The Horus model is very nice, I wish I was able to get the Emporer model... I'll have to contact them about the Magnus.

Millest, you can only get them on Ebay... if you are lucky to find the auction before Ebay shuts it down. I have the sellers contact information and can get them directly through him.

I'll get that for you guys later.

Business seems to be going well! I like the scale and volumes of these, but the overall scultping could be sharper.

How does GW react to this thoug? I'd assume massproducing and selling work based on someone else's IP would be, erm illegal?

Emp and Horus follow the Adrian Smith art quite well, I'm impressed. Horus seems the best overall of the lot, though despite Mortarion's junky tek-scythe and smallish head (neck??) I like him quite a bit too. I assume that blaster is his "lantern" or whatever?

More power to this guy, best get casting while the casting's good!

GW's IP policy strictly forbids it. I am not sure how they are able to produce them (if they are legal or not), I just want the primarch models.

I'll get the info to the rest of you who want it once I am back home. (at work)

It is very hard to stop ronin from producing the miniatures. Afterall gw do not produce these miniatures they are only seen in there art and could be considered a conicidence, also after 100-200- or 500 are produced the moulds are destroyed making the model instantly oop. i would post a list of the models names however gw would probably have them removed from ebay.

Yea well IP laws and all that. It's a bummer that you can't steal things like that and make money off of it. Especially since the Emperor figure looks exactly like the picture owned by... dunn dunn duunnnnnnn GW.

It's not that hard to get Ronin to stop producing. In the US it's called Federal Prison.

Also with threads like this Ronin's chances of being shut down are greater. This thread shows that the models ARE being produced WITHOUT GW's consent, being sold as IP protected items illegally and that the person doing so is FULLY aware, regardless if they think they are in the right or have some loophole protecting them.

Criminals do tend to get a little cocky though when they think they have all the answers. I work with felons on a daily basis... it always ends the same.

Also the detailed account of how Ronin works the mould making, production run and mould destruction process will help GW too....

But yea the models are really cool!

 

The problem is they do not have a website of any sort. Also the sellers on ebay are re-sellers and not the manufacturers. There made in such limited numbers i doubt gw would bother chasing them up.

That may well be true. Biggest mistake that most of the defendants on my caseload made was thinking that no one would find them or come after them. It'll take ONE person on GW's legal team to launch an inquiry and then any of those "resellers" could get busted with things like "Conspiracy" and "trafficking"... hell Gorkel, you COULD be picked up for advertising them... we all could get picked up and questioned and/or subpeonaed.

GRANTED it's a hell of a long shot that would EVER happen, but I have seen people HELD on LESS but Judges.
Then again, is this not based out of the UK? I have no ideas about the laws across the pond.

I cant see why gw would make a big deal out of ronin making these miniatures i mean once gw decide to release them through forgeworld ronin will become a distant memory. I have seen the casts from ronin there of a great quality. However there proportions are a little off. Still there nice looking miniatures. That magnus the red is around 70mm tall a little to large if you ask me. I own a few ronin miniatures once i paint them ill post pics up.

Conversions are different. You are taking a GW model and converting it.

These appear to be one off's, created in the image of Copyrighted material and then sold for profit.

Scibor OTH takes already bought and paid for GW models, converts and adds putty all over it and then resells them. GW already got their money for the model the conversion is based on. Therefore the price is based on the talent and skill of the convertor.

Specifically, in a legal sense, I believe the term is "fair use". Scibor can buy the GW models, and since he now owns the model "fair use" allows him to resell them as he sees fit.

If no one could resell a GW mini because of that then no one would be able to sell off what they have purchased EVER. (Including automobiles and other items, not just models.)

So you can buy a GW model and resell it. Many people do, eBay is flooded with such.

You cannot make something copied from GW's IP, package and sell it using GW's IP in order to make a profit since you have not paid GW for that right.

Ronin Minis is creating the "Primarchs" in the images of GW's IP (including the names, descriptions, background and images), packaging them as such and selling them for a profit without the expressed written permission of GW.

I could take a Chaos Terminator model I paid for, convert it to look like horus and sell it as a conversion but I could not then make molded copies of it and then sell them for profit or gain.
