I tried to look to see if this was posted elsewhere, but i didn't see anything.

I am not asking for the legality of Forge World models in play or anything like that...here is my question.

I see nothing in the rules that states I couldn't take an IG Armored Company (i.e. all tanks) with Daemonhunter allies. Am i correct, or am I missing something in one of those books?

A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

I don't think there are any rules explicitly saying that you can't. IIRC, Mauleed(?) mentioned AC with WH for a Gladiator.

p. 25, WH book, under Using Witch Hunters as Allies

"...Witch Hunters units can be included as allies in any of the following armies:

(skip SM section)

Imperial Guard and its variants, such as Catachan Jungle Fighters and Armageddon Steel Legion."

That's pretty unequivocal to me. I mean, Imperial Guard Armored Company is pretty clearly an Imperial Guard variant.

I don't know that I'd agree with that statement. The (now obsolete) examples at least included references back to Codex: IG, and used something like the Force Org for an IG army.

Where is the current AC list? Does it include any references back to Codex: IG?

On page 21 of the Daemonhunters Codex, in the grey box on the lower right of the page, under the title "Using Daemonhunters as Allies" is verbage that allows Daemonhunters to be used as allies with "Imperial Guard and its variants" (which would include Armoured Company). There are some limitations, so check the codex.

A few references would include the following links

http://uk.games-workshop.com/imperialguard/ac-armylist/1/
http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/gaming/ac_operations/default.htm

Clearly, Armoured Company is Imperial Guard

Current AC  list can be found at us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/gaming/ac_rules/assets/ac_rules.pdf

And it does make references back to Codex: IG. For example, under "Imperial Guard Armory", it states "Full rules for wargear may be found in Codex: Imperial Guard." Under Elites, "Tech-Priest Enginseer, Per Codex: Imperial Guard." Admittedly, not many, but they are there.

Well since the Armored Company uses imperial guard tanks and imperial guard guardsmen, I think you got a hard sell trying to convince anyone that Armored Company isn't an imperial guard variant. That having been said, the direct quotes Mitsugi242 pointed out state that you can use witch hunters in an imperial guard army.

Does that mean that Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters are 'Imperial Guard variants' as well since they can take those units?

Not to put words in his mouth, but I would guess his answer to you would be no.

Do you have an opinion on the subject Ghaz?

Nope, just showing how that particular argument is flawed.

Actually, the PDF rules do answer it pretty clearly. It's not an "Armored Company". Repeatedly in the rules it uses the title "Imperial Guard Armored Company".

Page 1:
"Imperial Guard Armory"
"Imperial Guard Vehicles"
"Imperial Guard Armored Company Summary"

Page 5 header:
"Imperial Guard Armored Company Doctrines"

Page 7 header:
"Imperial Guard Armored Company Vehicle Inventory"
"The Imperial Guard army is not noted... Tanks of the Imperial Guard..."
"Crew: Imperial Guard"

So, I would say it's a varient of the Imperial Guard.
