Have more time to go through and do the metal parts of the Ironclad Dreadnought. I also put back the base color to clean up the edges/recesses emphasized by the wash from the previous step.
Next is to wash the metal color and add colors. Once that is done, time for basing.

I love the colors!
You should have drilled the barrels of the assault cannons. They look so much better drilled.

@sparkywtf: which size of the drill bit do you use for these? I don't think I have one that is of the right size since I drilled some before and they just look odd.
@spudkins: I looked through your blog but I couldn't find it. I must be looking at the wrong place :(

I used the drill bit from the GW drill. I use that for the assault cannons and bolters (although I may switch that one up). It doesn't look too much different, as it is kind of a small hole, but it still looks better than nothing.

I went to Walmart and picked up some stuff to build a cheap-o light box. My last attempt didn't go so well but this time it turns out to be pretty good. I still need to pick up some light fixtures so I can have a light box permanently setup next to my painting station and computer. This way I can have pictures like these taken in a jiffy.

I add a backdrop cloth to my light box. Do you guys like this more than the white background?
I am taking a picture of my librarian before I put him to the stripping pot.

All these models are washed with devlan mud and then layered up to leave the wash only in the edges. This is more visible on the terminator models.
My experience is that with only wash, the soft edge is too visible.

Thank you Young_Logan and 40kFSU.
I am now starting up the Terminators part of my army. I came into possession of a few shoulder pads so I pimped up my lightning claws terminators.
I also try a paper backdrop instead of a cloth backdrop. Which one do you guys prefer?

I have been feeling the painter's blues lately. Not being able to crank out good works. So I finished two more attack bikes. They are missing some detailing to really make their models popped. But I gotta work on my other models :-(. Time is so little.

A fellow Angels Of Absolution player! This is awesome! Beautifully modelled and painted army indeed, I'm in the process of expanding my force as well, if you have the time or inclination, have a look at my AoA pics here http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-57009-25163_Angels%20Of%20Absolution.html - very basic, hoping to expand these into a full article eventually when school lets up a little

So I stripped some tactical marines and gave one of them a plasmagun. Since the arms are in a strange position, I added some a scroll.
I can imagine him saying: "Look, I follow the manual but there is a blinking light here that says Getting Hot."

Gentlemen, I need your help. I am stuck on what would be a good color combination for a lascannon. I am repainting my Dreadnought and my devastator squad and I would love to have something that looks beautiful with my color scheme.
I am thinking of a boltgun metal base with the front muzzle in white and some white elements.

Well, let me start by saying your Tactical guys look great. I think your painting is getting even better with each squad. As for the white, It may be too light. Have you thought of bronze weapons and blue helmets? Maybe even green as a nod to their parent Chapter?
