Nearly finished the Heldrake now. Just waiting for the sealer to dry before i add the final highlights and finish off the inside of the mouth.
Todays job was to build and paint the base, and i would appreciate any comments, suggestions or criticism as this guy is due to be entered in a local painting comp next week.

well. i did say i was going to start the blade dancers next, but a lack of ideas has led to me putting them off again. The Heldrake is done now, so a new project is needed. while i wait to aquire either a knight or lord of skulls i decided to add more big guns to my army, in the form of a forgefiend. Ive not got a lot done on it so far, but theres a sneak peak below.

Made some progress on the forgefiend today. Got most of the basecoating done, as well as the shading and some of the layering done on the body. The head and one of the ecto-plasma cannons are nearly done, and the flesh parts just need highlighting. i'm kind of hoping for some feedback on this one as im trying to push myself to the next level.

Well. Its been a while, but I have kept myself busy. Work on the renegade guard elements of the army has progressed well, and I have another 3k of csm assembled ready to paint. All in all im at around 12k so far. Including a warhound, lord of skulls and deamon knight.

2 questions - 1, Is that Bane as a Cultist leader in his trenchcoat? And 2, is that Skaven piloting that flyer or are my eyes just getting bad in their old age? Regardless that is some awesome additions you've got there.

1 yes it is, he'll be a renegade commissar once he's finished.
2 yes again, all my pilots and artillerymen will be skaven eventually.

Renegade Commissar Bane is just brilliant, I can totally see that in a Reneguard army. The minotaur bulgryns are an awesome conversion. Also loved the table group shot of your Iron Warriors.

Only 2nd placed? Congrats dude, it is such an awesome job you did on him. Though I think it needs more skullz lol.

I'm liking the look of Grendel, is his faced all scared up or is that just a differing flesh tone, I can't quite tell. My only criticism of him (and its not really a criticism) is I thought his Mohawk would be a little bigger/more noticeable. It has been a while since I read my Iron warriors omnibus so I could be wrong about that.

Cheers dude. Tbh second was fair, the knight that came first was absolutely stunning. Grendels face is scarred, he was shot in the face with a plasma pistol releasing m'kar.

I didn't realise he was shot in the face while rescuing/releasing M'kar. I knew and remember him being scarred but I thought it happened before they got to the star-fort and M'kar. I could be very wrong, as I haven't read any of the Honsou stuff in a while.

Would that be the purple and white Knight in the background in the Lord of Skulls pic above? He does look pretty awesome. And is that a Giant hiding at the back as well? I don't suppose Chaos or Lords of Skulls go in for rosettes but congrats again on the 2nd place

Anyway, I've been busy again working on squad Grendel, to be played as melta chosen. Plus a little kitbash to lead my homebrew spacewolf renegades (void wolves). Hopefully I'll get plenty done this week as im off work.

Looking really cool as per usual. Are Chosen the ones that can have loads of meltas in the squad? I'm sure I've seen someone mention that to me before.

3 things I've noticed:

1: Woah!!! Look at the size of those horns sprouting out of that guys helmet in the back left of the Squad Grendel pic. You could put someone's eye out with those. Is that a normal Chaos helmet as I don't recognise it.
2: Maugrim looks awesome but are his lightning claws supposed to be pink or is that just photo glare or something?
3: Will your Void Wolves be completely Homebrew? The idea reminds me a lot of some of the Space Wolves who went nuts/crazy/Wulfen and turned and joined Huron Blackheart when his Red Corsairs attacked and captured The Wolf of Fenris battleship. I was wondering if maybe they were representing a part of Huron's gift of forces to Honsou before he sets out to attack Ultramar.

All in all I cant wait to see what's next and I'm quite interested and intrigued about what you'll do with the Void Wolves.

In answer to the questions, yes, chosen get to choose from the best wargear, kind of the chaos version of sternguard veterans. the helmet is from the chaos sorcerer that comes with the chaos warshrine, the claws are going to be purple once he's finished, I need to re-glaze them with blue, and the void wolves will indeed be part of the renegade marine contingent of the bloodborn. Along with a small detatchment of Deathbringers and some others. Every time I re-read the books, I notice more things I need to include.

Eventually I'm planning on each "component part" of the bloodborn being a playable army in its own right. The whole army will only be brought out for apocalypse games

That poor Ultra used as a Rhino hood ornament :( what did he ever do to you lol. Seriously though they all look bloody awesome, I'm especially loving those Terminator heads. They make a nice difference to all those big tusked ones and fit with the aesthetic of the helmet on the Iron Warriors emblem. Nice touch.

Void wolf terminator squad, completely at last. Theres about a hundred little bits I could do to improve them , but they're a strictly tabletop army so I'm calling time on them.

Whoo more free-hand hazard stripes I do always love your commitment to those things. Your Void Wolves are looking good. Questions though - where did you get that nasty evil looking purple sword on one of those Terminators? Will the Valkyrie be part of your Reneguard?

Cheers dude, the sword is from the chaos knight kit, which I bought for the horses (skaven roughriderz), and yeah the valkrie will be used for dropping melta veterans onto high priority targets. I've also started my second deamon knight.

I just realised that this guy is missing from my thread. I got him back on friday, after three months on display at the warrington gw store

Does a second Daemon Knight mean another 100+ skulls for the shoulder pad or will you save yourself from that insanity?
