Uh... What's wrong with people? These are higher than tabletop standard. Tabletop standard is the bare minimum to get them onto the table (three colors of paint, excluding primer). These are a fair deal better than tabletop standard.

Thanks dude and much respect to you and your wonderful moustache. I still think my painting is of a tabletop standard though, lets face it I'm not exactly golden demon standard. Lol.
I just try to paint to the highest standard I can achieve, then I call it tabletop standard.
Wow. I think I just broke the world record for using the word " standard "in a post,

Due to poor weather I've been unable to seal my marines yet again.
So I decided to start work on my sorcerer, he started out as the plasma cannon marine from the DV box set.
I cut off his head and replaced it with the cultist leaders from the same set. Then added the high collar, gave him new arms and a weapon made from two marauder swords.
He's still a bit rough ATM but I'm fairly pleased so far.
C&c always welcome.

Easily tabletop standard or above. The freehand's not bad, I like the colors and those are some pretty Boss bases. So take the constructive criticism, ignore the hate and keep at it.

Well. It's time for my other iron warriors squad to receive some attention, I painted these about a year ago and by my current standards they're looking a bit poor.
The squad contains a mixture of, csm battleforce parts, AOBR tac squad, iron warriors upgrade kit, and forgeworld mk3 armour.
It also features some of my first conversion attempts, which will be re-worked.

Thanks dude. Although I wasn't aware of any hate, and I actually welcome constructive criticism. As I've said before, it's what drives me to improve. Please keep it coming, after all its a lot easier to be "honest" about someone else's work than your own.

Thanks Bobaram. I agree whole heartedly about practice making perfect
Started the re-work today, the guy at the back had a massive arm from an Ork nob which I figured could be explained as a mutation.
I then read that the iron warriors replace mutated limbs with bionics, so the arm had to go. Unfortunately I had no bionic arms to replace it with. Cue some fiddly cutting and gluing( as well as a lot of swearing)

Love your work. I love how the CSM look tainted. Very nice. Once you're all done, you've gotta take a full army pic.

The story so far. Two csm squads ( left hand squad in the process of being re worked), one terminator squad, hellbrute, biker squad, land raider and vindicator.

Also included in a separate pic as he is currently not in my possession. The man himself....

To be honest dude I'm kinda desperate for game time at the moment.
Picked up another tac squad today, plus the new vanguard veteran set, mainly for the jump packs. I don't think the current raptor kit fits the iron warriors look so I'm going to convert my own.

For taping the lines out, Hazard lines on a figure is not something I have done personally, but I have used tape and an airbrush on a lot of canvases.
For even spacing of the lines, lay tape over the whole thing, and the pull up alternate strips. This way you get a pretty solid guide line to keep the line widths equal all long.
Another tip (i dunno what kind of tape youve used) is to look for what is known as 'fineline' tape. Its used in the custom automotive paint industry, can be curved if need be. its kind of plasticy, low tack. Purposed designed for painters. Regular cheap masking tape can be used well, but its working against you rather than with you.

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

Erm. I'm not using any masking dude. I'm painting everything by hand, no airbrush, no masking, just my own brush control.
Yep, I know it's not perfect but its just my style. I am aware of fineline tape as I'm a fully qualified automotive custom painter, I just prefer to doit all by hand. Stupid I know but I'm pretty stubborn. Lol.

Just a quick update to show I haven't quit yet. Lol. The re-work on my second csm squad continues, plus I have my 5 man raptor squad waiting for paint, plus my "chosen" awaiting some attention.
The stripes on the lascannon marine need sorting out but it'll have to wait until the lacquer is properly dried. Also I need to finish the new backpacks for two of them

Maybe, but you captured the feel of chaos perfectly. Nice work!

Wow. High praise indeed.
Well I've not really done much this week as I've been working, I have been plodding along slowly though. Squad two now has 4 completed marines, including one with a heavy chainsword and custom made bionic arm. Plus another 5 csm awaiting weapons, backpacks or basing. No10 is awaiting parts as I ordered the iron hands upgrade pack for the bionic legs.
I am also awaiting delivery of their transport, a rhino, plus fw extra armour kit and doors. Feeling a bit guilty over spending £50+ on a rhino, but I'm hoping it'll look cool. Will post pics once its arrived and assembled.

hey dude, you might not need this, (insanely expensive rhino for the win) but using regular masking tape, you can mark out line on vehicles quite well.
Take the tape and take some of the tackyness off it (stick it to the desk a couple of times) and apply to model and run a watered down varnish along the edge of the tape. It forms a good seal against paint being applied by brush, but should peel easily and without damaging the underlayer. Just move onto each stripe as and when.

but iron warriors look epic, especially Honsu. That's a really nice conversion. Now, can i justify warning stripes on space puppies??

Edit to include the question i orginally wanted to ask, how did you buff our your vindi, in particular the base of the exhaust stacks? was it a bit, or did you craft them?
